very normal about the implications of the way viktor reacts to harold degrading him and pounding his fist into the book. the nice part of me says it was just his powers making him extra sensitive and therefore the sound worse but the evil and fucked up part says that this was something reginald did whenever he was "out of line" to get back at him

Behind the Scenes of The Giggle - Part Nineteen
Excerpt from Benjamin Cook's set visit for DWM #599
"If it’s not unprofessional to say,” proffers Chanya, peering up at Neil perched on his Galvanic Beam, the early-evening sun behind him casting a radiant halo, “you’re looking very handsome today, but also really, really evil sat up there.” Neil beams – a searing, galvanic beam. “Then I’m doing my job correctly,” he says. “Or someone is. Wear the visage, don’t let it wear you.” I’m not sure what that means, but I want it on a tea towel. “I am just as flabbergasted as anyone that I was given such an incredible honour and opportunity,” Chanya tells me, when I ask her about landing this directing gig of a lifetime. “I genuinely am a really big fan of Doctor Who. I really, really, really love and admire the show. My extremely dweeby formative years were spent watching Christopher Eccleston, and then David Tennant’s first tenure, and I absolutely loved it. I had a Billie Piper [Rose Tyler] action figure, which was in my room at university.” Best not mention Doctor Who dollies in front of the Toymaker. You’ll give him ideas. “That’s true,” she laughs.

Things i swear i will do if i ever become a writer/showrunner on doctor who:
- Show. The. Companion. Rooms. At least the ones currently being used, but also give me a slow pan down a corridor lined with old doors. One of them WILL be cracked open and inside there WILL be a racecar bed. no i will not explain. - The TARDIS console is covered in miscellaneous trinkets. tiny baubles. inexplicable clutter. Stuff the Doctor picked up centuries ago and doesn’t remember acquiring. One of them squeaks when pressed. the Doctor denies ever having touched it. - I WILL write in a fun montage of the doctor picking out their post regeneration outfit (preferably set to a beach boys song, I’m thinking kokomo)
- I’m bringing back companions who are not modern day earth girls.
- I WILL make the doctor play at least one weird instrument, at least one you wouldn’t expect. Like Trombones. (am I biased because I play trombone? Yes. Yes I am.) - The Doctor gets a personal snack. Not jelly babies. Not fish fingers and custard. Theirs. In that moment. That regeneration. Right now I’m thinking tajin on watermelon or strawberries. *tajin is a seasoning mix of chili peppers, sea salt, citric acid and dehydrated lime juice - Make the Doctor nonbinary/genderfluid. like. textually. canonically. in-universe. And keep it consistent. Also, I want a trans companion and I want them to do crime together.
I'm available and my inbox is open, BBC.

I was watching some historical episodes of Doctor Who (as you do) and had a thought:

What if the Doctor meets a historical figure who they don't like, but they're forced to protect them from some evil alien plot because of fixed points in time or whatever.

Idk I just think for a historical show Doctor Who tends to either white wash certain historical figures, not really acknowledge them or their actions, or just completely avoids them all together.
There's an entire episode set in Nazi Germany with Hitler literally in the title and he gets like less than 5 minutes of screentime before he gets shoved into a cupboard and is just never seen again? What was the point?

Like, I don't want them to protect someone like Hitler lol, but what about maybe a Rasputin? Napoleon? Any US president? Idk, I just think it'd be interesting.
Vincent and the Doctor is remembered as one of the best episodes of NuWho because it actually portrays van Gogh as a brilliant yet complex man who's battle with mental health couldn't just be solved with a bit of Doctor magic.

The scene in which they take Vincent to the art gallery to see that his paintings are actually appreciated is great and the episode could have just ended with Vincent returning to his own time all smiles knowing that people do think his art is good, but it doesn't end there.
Instead we get to see how Vincent's mental health issues couldn't just be solved with a trip in the TARDIS and that the Doctor isn't a miracle worker, and that for me is what makes the ending so powerful.
I think what I'm basically saying is that I want a reverse Vincent and the Doctor:
Doctor meets historical figure they don't like
They're forced to help because timey wimey
The Doctor successfully saves the person and ensures history happens how it should, but the victory feels icky since the person they saved is gross and the history they saved is bad.

Me: You know what kind of character I like?
Tall. Skinny. Blue-eyed. A mess of wild curls. The guy full of Whimsy. The socially awkward, offbeat, out-of-place-in-a-crowd but totally good with kids type.
The one with the energy of a mad artist or an unhinged scientist, rambling on about strange topics. Bonus points if this guy has long fingers and can play an instrument or fix a machine😍.
The one who knows how to love, who dares to give it all, expecting nothing in return.
Kind, soft-hearted. Wants to do so much but often can't. Cries for the bloody awful reality, yet still does the things that needs to do—even when they lead nowhere. And if this character gets whumped a lot, I'm SOOOO in👻.
Me: I know, I know, my taste is weird and these demands are oddly specific…
Steven Moffat and the DW crew: [creates the 12th Doctor, whole 3 seasons and several specials]

my roman empire will forever be how dedicated arthur was to merlin. he was merlin's true ride or die. because sure merlin was the same way but merlin had insider knowledge and a destiny that arthur didn't have. arthur was just THAT obsessed with merlin for who he was
