Fake Dating's a Beast
By Emily Fluke
I read this as an ARC and it was wonderful. Beauty and the beast retellings are some of my favorite things to read. This was such a quick and spooky read. Which was perfect for October.
Belle is about to turn twenty-five and she is cursed. Her family has had bad luck for generations when it comes to love. Brett has come come home to run for Mayor and is unsure of how it will work. He was the town bully growing up and he has to face that reputation. He has moved back into his childhood home which just so happens to be Belle's ancestral home. He wants to knock it down and she wants him to leave it alone. To stop him from knocking it down, she threatens to promote his opponent. They then decide that what is best for each other is to “date” each other.
The two of them find that they have more in common then they realized when they were kids. They are constantly talking about books and cats. The two go on a journey of self discovery. They both have issues with themselves in regards to their pasts. It's nice that they were able to work on themselves together.
I really enjoyed the dynamic between Belle and Brett. They had amazing chemistry and I'm glad they had so much in common. They enjoyed a lot of the same books and they both have a love of felines which was amazing! Got to love the cats!
I loved that the two of them went on a journey of self discovery which they both needed to do. Fake dating is an amazing trope. I also love the miscommunication. Honestly this was one of my most anticipated reads and it did not disappoint. I am looking forward to more retellings from Emily.

Reading in October
So reading in October has been nonexistent. I read one ARC which was Fake Dating's a Beast (which was amazing!) I will be posting a review soon just trying to find the right wording.
I had a lot to do this month. My house has been under renovations. We had to move out for two weeks (starting today) with our two cats. Got to love old houses with their jankyness.
Also I've been having upper raspatory issues recently. Got to love allergies! I find that when I'm sick, I cannot pick up a book to save my life.
We are currently staying in a hotel and I have a whole basket full of books that I hope to read.
I want to finish King of Battle and Blood while I'm here. I can't wait to read it. It seems so good.
I'm really close to my local B&N so maybe I'll end up in there to read or work on this blog. Lol. I have to make sure the cats are really comfortable before I do that though. My partner is working from home most days of the week, so I want to be here to make sure they don't really bother him.
I hope October was a better reading month for other people. What was everyone's favorite spooky read? What are people looking forward to reading come the holidays? Let me know.

Escape with Me (ARC)
By Amy Long
So I read this book as an ARC and it was wonderful. It was an excellent quick read that I am excited to read again at some point. I am also excited to be able to read the series as it comes out.
Cassie has had enough of this life. She has worked multiple jobs for a family that doesn't care. She has finally saved enough money to leave, but her car is missing. Jake aka Vince the King of the Park has been looking to leave his life behind. He hates living here, but he doesn't want to leave the girl he loves. When he realizes she wants to leave as well, he decides that they should leave together. The two drive across country to start again. Jake joined a company with several of his friends from the army and they were able to help him when they needed it.
I appreciated the relationship between Cassie and Jake. They both really wanted the other, but they weren't ready to be together. Jake was constantly worried before they left that Cassie would be in danger because of who he is. Their romance was really cute.
They also have an amazing relationship with their friends. They really care about what is going on with the main characters. Once they realize what is happening, they do everything they can to make sure that they are ok.
There isn't much that I didn't like about this book, but there was one (but this wont stop me from reading the rest of the series). The two of them have really good chemistry and they want to do all the things with each other, but it doesn't get into it. It fades to black! I just really want to visualize it. I really appreciate the dirty talk, but was slightly disappointed by the off screen sex. However, this will not stop me from reading the rest of the series. I can't wait to read the series.
The story was fast paced and lovely. The characters were incredibly well written and funny. I would love to read an ARC of yours again. I can't to see where the rest of the series goes.

Spooky Season Reads
So I had so many books that I wanted to read this spooky season. However, with everything going on with the house (we are renovating literally the whole house), I won't be able to get through all the books that I wanted to read. So I cut down from my original list of ten books to six books.
I will be trying to read:
Love in the Time of Serial Killers
King of Battle and Blood
Court of the Vampire Queen
Vampire Academy
Long Live the Pumpkin Queen
Crave
The books that I had to cut are:
Midnight Sun
The Lost Apothecary
Madeleine's Ghost
Haemans: The Complete Duology
Not sure how many books I will be able to get through. I have a whole house to pack by the end of the month, multiple guests over several weekends, our wedding anniversary, and our towns haunted house. I will be reading these books either later this year (or the start of next year) or I will save them for next spooky season. What are other people reading for spooky season.

The Love Hypothesis
By Ali Hazelwood
So The Love Hypothesis was the first book that I read when I joined Book Tok this year. I was with my best friend who got me into the clock app and I had been seeing it everywhere so when we went book shopping the next day and I immediately picked it up. I read it and it took me like 5 hours straight to read this the first time. I could not put it down.
Olive is trying to get her best friend to date the guy who she was at one point casually dating. To convince her friend she was over this guy, she told them that she was on a date (which she wasn't). She went to the lab to work when she sees her friend. In a panic she asks the closes person to her if she can kiss them and then proceeds to. The person she kissed Professor Adam Carlsen, the professional asshole of the department. Every student leaves his presence in tears or frustration as he tears their work apart. To convince her friend that she is over this guy, Olive and Adam decide to fake date for about a month. Adam has said that fake dating Olive would help him convince Stanford to release his funds he needs for projects he wants to finish by the end of the year.
It was incredibly cute and the banter with Olive's friends was incredible. “You put in expired contracts? Just a little expired. What's 'a little'?” was a sentence within the first few pages of this book. I could not stop laughing.
I really enjoyed a lot of the tropes in this book: strangers to lovers, teacher / student, fake dating. I enjoyed the fact that Adam was totally in love with Olive before she realized what was happening. Adam makes Olive feel loved and safe no mater what is happening around them.
This book has become a comfort read for me. I've read this book several times this year. I've bought another copy of this book due to the fact that there was a bonus chapter available in Adam's perspective. Honestly I would love to have the rest of the book in his perspective as he has always been deeply in love with Olive.
I have read the rest of Ali's books and I love them. They are so nerdy and fun. I look forward to reading more books by her.

My Reading Journey
Hey Readers!
Welcome to my book blog! I love reading. Once I figured out how to read properly (there were a lot of issues growing up learning disabilities and such), reading became everything. I always have a book in my bag no matter where I go. I would read books in the car growing up (not so much anymore because car sickness is literally the worst) any my brothers could not figure out why.
I have a lot of time on my hands and have been reading like crazy. I have read about 47 books this year alone and I have not read that many books in a long time. This year I joined Book Tok over on the clock app (its really bad in the best possible way because it keeps expanding my TBR, but I love it). I don't post anything over there, but I enjoy seeing what other people are reading. Since joining, I have drastically changed what I have been reading from YA and fantasy to romance (more like dark romance with some romcoms thrown in there).
So I am going to be posting reviews on the books that I am reading. These books many not be for everyone and that's OK. People can read what they want and that's amazing. I want to create a safe space fore people and hopefully help people fine new adventures that they want to go on through books.
So keep calm and read on everyone!
