phantom's thoughts on: ectobiology

this one will be a bit different from my others, in the sense that i will likely add more on later because hoooo boy i have come up with a LOT of stuff related to how ghosts function biologically, especially danny. firstly, though, let's talk about general ghost biology.

as i've previously covered, ghosts (more accurately ecto-entities, given that not all are ghosts in the literal sense—more on that in the future!) are made of ectoplasm, which is a highly emotionally charged substance. because of this, a ghost's form is tied to their emotional state, largely how they view themself. this does mean that a ghost could change form, however it's not very common considering it requires a complete change in someone's view of themself, which doesn't usually happen. generally the changes that will happen might be things like hair growth or small changes due to a ghost's expectation that they would happen.

realms-born ghosts are a bit of an interesting case because there wouldn't really be the expectation of those things occurring, due to the fact that they never were human, so they tend to be more static. however, other ghosts who were might affect their expectations. this is also completely not touching on non-humanoid ghosts, which is a completely different matter.

i have more thoughts on danny's biology specifically, but i'll likely post them separately because i can yap for so long about them. let me know if there are any questions or things i should discuss in the future though!

every single time i see a fic that is like "and then TALIA told JASON to KILL BRUCE because he DIDN'T AVENGE HIM" it kills me a little inside. like.... girl. she literally stalled him for what is implied to be at LEAST months if not years. all so that jason would realize he doesn't want to kill bruce.

i am also personally partial to talia being at least an okay mother and seeing jason as her son in some regard.
