imagine you’re just a normal guy doing normal stuff when one day your mom dies. it’s really sad, and prompts your dad to move back to bumfuck, nowhere and become a farmer. then your dad remarries and your step-mom already has a son who you’ve never met before. so far, normal family drama.

then your new mom gets kidnapped and murdered, and your step-brother comes back and just fucking murders everyone associated with step-mom’s death. over the top, but still understandable.

then everything goes off the fucking rails. the normal government is replaced by an evil space wizard dictatorship. your step brother, also an evil space wizard, fucking snaps and murders a bunch of kids and then a ton of other people. it’s chaos. 

then some random guy (also a space wizard) shows up and hands you and your new wife a baby. “this is your nephew,” he says “by the way, the empire is probably gonna want to hunt him down. they also want me dead, so I’m going to live about an hour away from you. cool? cool.”  and you’re like….I guess? so you raise your nephew to the best of your ability and do farm stuff, only to end up tortured and then killed by the government anyway.

like, all things considered, owen lars really had a fucked up life.

This youtuber got herself braids a few weeks ago and got so many comments on how and why it was wrong. She educated herself and even made a research on the history of braids, dreads and cornrows.

She posted a video where she removes her braids and explains to other Korean people the importance of these hairstyles. She’s a good example of how someone can learn from their mistakes and spread awareness.

Don’t hate on people who ignorantly appropriate cultures. Try to educate them with facts!!

Talon and Mara are my favorite characters alongside Thrawn, FML.

I mean I love Luke, Ahsoka, Obi-Wan, Satine and many many characters, but... For some reason Talon Karrde is my all time favorite. And I will never see him or read about him again and we don't even know when he was born or anything LOL There's just so much to explore about him and Mara and all the other amazing EU characters like Jaina, etc.

I just-

5 years ago today the Expanded Universe was re-branded as “Legends.”

I have a lot of feelings about this. I can’t believe it’s been 5 years since so many of my favorite characters and stories were swept aside as “myth.” And while I like the things Disney has done outside of the saga (I thoroughly enjoyed Rogue One and Rebels), I can’t say I’ve been too impressed with where they’ve taken the story in place of the EU.

And before you say, “The stories still exist, no one is stopping you from reading them,” I realize that. But it’s really hard when your favorite characters are Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade, and they took Luke from being this wonderfully smart, charismatic, empathetic hero to a bitter, cynical, isolated hermit, and Mara doesn’t exist in canon anymore at all. I would’ve killed to see Luke and Mara happy together onscreen. And the “Legends” announcement effectively removed any possibility of seeing Mara again even in literature. I think that’s the hardest part for me. We don’t get any new books with Mara Jade, or Talon Karrde, or any of the other awesome EU characters. Yes, we got Thrawn. And that helped considerably. But I’ll still be sad about losing Mara.

Don’t mind me, I’ll just be over here sobbing into my tattered copy of Heir to the Empire today.
