Why 'grounding' is so essential right now.
WHY
Without grounding we're like leaves floating in the breeze - Not an entirely unpleasant experience if desired but always best if you also have the ability to re-establish your roots.
Often misunderstood as some kind of 'airy-fairy' notion, this essential human experience is often overlooked and undervalued.
Grounding is the basis for balance and the first step to becoming centered, aligned, in-tune, harmonious and happy. When done properly, grounding is a connection to an awesomely powerful regenerative force, which when established, feels like the best homecoming ever.
We all know someone who isn't grounded - "Head in the clouds", it's someone who's unsettled, hard to pin down and easily falls into fight or flight.
Life is always going to be littered with challenging times. If we're not very careful, life's relentless requirements result in overload and fatigue. There's rarely a moment to rest. The vast majority of us can't just decide to take the day off, just 'because' we 'don't feel like it'.
So whilst we can't always control our socio-economic conditions, we can change our responses to it. If our base of stability is ever shaken and we feel driven to fight or flight, to grasp or seek that which we need, then preparation is key.
At these moments we can choose to be the bull in a china shop, or run around like a headless chicken, or just maybe perhaps take the time to settle, calm, ground, make a plan and act wisely. It is the act of grounding that enables a well considered and executed approach to any situation.
Being grounded is undoubtedly our most fundamentally important feeling. Without these foundations, anything we create will be on shaky ground.
HOW
Complex, sensitive beings, we can at any moment be any number of different ways and ultimately how we are depends entirely on how we choose to craft our internal landscape, despite what is going on around us.
Achieving sustainable grounding is aligning what's important to you, with what's important for the WHOLE because we are and always will be an element of the whole, no matter how disconnected we may find (or make) ourselves.
Being any way other than aligned with the whole is like screaming at the sun to stop shining, or attempting to reverse the Earth's spin... fruitless endeavours which will inevitably, sooner or later result in nothing but exhaustion and frustration.
So, grounding begins with the acknowledgement of our place in life and reality. It's the accepting of the many forces beyond our control, which we can contentedly surrender to. Chief amongst these forces and the one closest to us, is the immense being right under our feet, the Earth.
We need only cast our attention beneath our feet for a moment to detect the majesty of this vast planetary being we inhabit, without which we would quite literally cease to be.
It is the Earth which sustains, holds and if we allow, guides us. We need do nothing in particular. We don't need to achieve anything. We don't need to retreat to the forest, or seek a mountain top in the far east. The feeling of being grounded quite literally manifests without any effort, no matter where you are because at least for the most part, on her we are.
Being grounded is synonymous with presence. Someone happy to be where they are, just as they are, feels present and seems present. The experience fills a body and clearly emmantes for all to see.
For those who are unfamiliar with this experience and are going to be trying anything like the following exercises for the first time, please, just relax... keep in mind only that the Earth is there and all she wants is to hold us.
Try the below 3 exercises. Please get in touch if you'd like any further guidance and support... xx
1. EARTH AWARENESS
i. Bring your attention inward.  ii. Settle into your breath.  iii. Project your attention downwards, acknowledging the presence of the Earth.  iv. Seek for the power the Earth emanates.  v. Allow this feeling to permeate every aspect of your body.
2. CONSCIOUS WALKING
i. Stand on level ground, barefoot, preferably directly on the Earth.  ii. Close your eyes. iii. Breathe into the belly and centre your attention there.  iv. Walk as slowly as you can.  v. Walk even slower... vi. Consciously observe all the feelings this exercise produces.
3. BREATHING SQUATS
i. Body relaxed and aligned, stand barefoot with feet flat, hip width apart.  ii. Breathe in as you lower into a slight squat.  iii. Exhale as you return to standing.  iv. Synchronise your movement range with your breath range.  v. Descend deeper with each consecutive squat.
With these, as with all else in life, feel what's happening. Our subtle experience extends through the sub-conscious and opens to the infinite. Tune-in with your internal experiences. They will lead you to magic. Ask and answer - What's real? What's alive in you?

The revolution of botanical non-alcoholic spirits
There's an escalating interest in all things botanical, inspired by a deep desire to reconnect with nature and all things natural. No surprise then that the drinks market are innovating with botanicals, blending them into increasingly more elaborate and enjoyable concoctions.
Non-alcoholic spirits
Traditionally the term 'spirit' has been reserved for drink products that have been distilled. We'd like to challenge this categorisation because the process of distillation strips the flavour from the plant's essence, resulting in a tasty drink without any of the botanical vitality. In other words, none of the plant's SPIRIT is in the resulting product!
We believe that the term 'spirit' should only apply to drinks that have as much of the botanical spirit in it as humanly possible!
"Every breathe is a dance between you and the plants"
Susan Weed
We've been working with the plants for many years creating innovative blends that inspire a reconnection with nature. Our latest range uses a very gentle extraction process, ensuring the end product has as much botanical vitality a drink can contain.
  Nature's way
Nature holds many of the answers we seek - reducing stress, healing disorders, enhancing clarity and empowerment. 80% of over the counter medications contain compounds extracted from nature and side-effects are due to these compounds being stripped from their original states.
Asides from their obvious benefits, they offer us a range of such amazing taste sensations!
Check out our range of botanical non-alcoholic spirits, as well as our serving suggestions here x

Master Fire Tonic
I have been thinking about my health this week while doing a 3 day cleanse. It was half term, which requires quite a bit of energy and I wasn’t sure I could do it but it was actually much easier than anticipated.
Four years ago I struggled a lot with my health, I was getting 6 colds a year and these were not just runny noses, I would almost always end up with sinusitis and a chest cough and it would take 2-3 weeks to get over the bug.
This was when I first started wondering what could I do in a natural way to support my health and wellness as the GP just offered antibiotics, which always had lots of unpleasant side effects.
Back then, apart from my old beloved nightly glass of wine, I ate a mainly organic paleo diet, but with the pressure I was in at work it seemed no amount of good food could offset the levels of stress that I experienced.
One night I found a recipe for a ‘Master Tonic”. It was an apple cider vinegar concoction pitched as a natural antibiotics. I was prepared to try anything at this stage so I made a first batch. One month later it was ready, but it tasted awful and the effect was overwhelming!
However, having a shot a day and 3 when I got sore throats, my cold count decreased from 6 a year to 1 or 2. It was amazing! The ingredients were all regularly in our meals (onions, garlic, turmeric, ginger) but there was something about the combination and them being in raw form that kept beating the bugs time after time.
For the most part, humans have used water or alcohol to extract the goodness from botanicals but it turns out that apple cider vinegar is just as good. It's a powerful extractor and also preservative. Considering how good ACV is for you, it's a win on many levels.
Over the years we’ve improved the recipe making all kinds of adjustments, adding other powerful plants for taste and effect. By the beginning of this summer the recipe was complete.
The current version is more rounded and easier to take but still packs a punch and keeps the colds away. It took me a year to drink the tonic straight but I find the new version much easier to stomach than before.
I don’t think I would have been able to do this cleanse without any cravings if it hadn’t been for these Master Tonics. It has changed my health, I owe it much, and I am pleased we are able to provide this for others and hope they will benefit as I have.

How to access the infinite
Firstly it is necessary to identify the Essential Self: The eternal, unchanging self. The aspect of ourselves that remains after death, transcends the duality and connects us to source. The simplest way to this is by identifying and isolating the Ego.
The Ego is the tool consciousness utilises to navigate this material dimension. It is the individual ‘I’, that maintains separateness and sovereignty. Without it our atoms would disperse and our reality return to source. Entwined with Essence, it is one half of life’s delicate design.
The Ego is the Yang to the Yin of Essence. Ego is the structural organisation of material and Essence the force that gives it life. Whilst it is possible to manifest our intentions in reality, it is also reality that is manifesting us.
Quantum mechanics also provides some insight. Every atom is 99.9% empty space and the observable 0.1% is constantly disappearing and reappearing at the speed of light. What we consider solid matter is in fact elusive vibration both ‘here’ and not ‘here’.
The subtle realm is beyond the rational mind. To access it we must surrender everything we hold onto and fully enter Yin. Yang is the framework our reality is built on but finite and its boundaries veil the infinite.
Yin is the emptiness that contains it all, cradling the opportunity to manifest. It has no boundaries and is the route to the infinite source of all. From the seat of the silent observer we can sense life’s truths, know what is beneficial and unravel the mysteries of existence.
This all begins within. We are microcosms of the macrocosm. Revealing our own hidden truths illuminates all life’s highest achievements and there is no better method of examining the subtleties of Self, than through the lens of the Chakra system.

WHY WE NEED TO UNDERSTAND THE CHAKRA SYSTEM
Life is almost unfathomably vast. We frequently feel subject to forces beyond our control and insignificant in the grand scheme of things. There comes a point in everyone's life when we contemplate the big questions. Why are we here? What is life all about?
Life’s totality may be grasped only by those who are prepared in terms of both willingness and training. Disillusioned by their era’s convention and driven by an insatiable urge, there are many who have sought life’s hidden truths.
The greatest teachings are etched in time and paths well trodden by those determined to make the journey are discoverable to those who want the grandest of all life experience.
There are many paths and signposts. Amongst the most clear are the Chakras, a system that charts an ancient schematic of our essential selves, detailing the subtle, unseen mechanisms of our feelings and life experience.
A 4000+ year old map, it has stood the test of time because it provides a comprehensive, direct route to self realisation. It's story has been told through many eras and countless generations. It is interwoven in many religions and non-religions. It speak of essence and walks the line between the reality we see and the one we don't.
Whatever it may be that we feel, no matter how lost or elated, one can reference the system. There is nothing outside of its scope. It is an immense, life changing system of understand but it requires more than a scratching of the surface.
After a little research many people will have no doubt rejected the suggestion that there are a variety of coloured spinning energy wheels in their body. After looking a little deeper you may realise that these are symbolic tools; signposts to a deeper understanding of ultimate truth, the journey to which forces away layers of illusion and brings about greater union.
It is a journey and for those of us in human form, it is a lifelong one. Whosoever is willing to delve deep into the Chakra system, will discover their journey in a new way and eventually, the answers to life’s big questions will become clear.

Sensing National Tea Day
It’s national tea day today - a calling to escape the tea-comfort-zone and try something new!
Our teas offer the perfect opportunity to do just that. Highly tuned blends specifically designed to work with the ‘Chakras’ - very important aspects of our energy system. When our chakras are balanced we experience life in a very difference way. How can drinking tea help you to experience this I hear you ask?
If you take the time to be in stillness, breathing-in the smell of the herbs, spices or fruits, you are accessing the now, not in the past with what should have been or in the future, it’s all about the now.
The more present we are, the more energy and vitality are available to us and a simple cup of tea is enough to help us to experience more. We just need to give the moment our full attention.
Each of our teas are designed to work with each of the body’s 7 chakras. When you smell them you can feel your attention shifting in your body. With our Root Chakra Tea your attention will naturally shift downwards towards the pelvis, with the Crown Tea, it will elevate up to the top of your head and beyond.
We all have the ability to sense how herbs affect us - we can all learn this skill. I invite you to take more time with your tea today, no matter what tea you are drinking, take a moment to marvel at the magic in the cup.
Be with it as the brewing plants defuse, feel the texture of the tea in your mouth, identify the different tastes in the front, middle and back of your mouth. Be aware of the plants, the water, nutrients and sun that was used to grow them. Those plants you’re drinking are becoming part of your body - they are a gift from nature.
What can you learn about your connection with nature, or the power of plants today?
See your tea differently today, see it as the magic it is - a plant or collection of plants that have been combined to create a magical infusion just for you.
Today, let’s be thankful for everything about our precious tea xx

How to experience the Chakras - Part 2 of 2
At any moment, our minds can grab onto any of the many thoughts that traverse our awareness and there are limitless ways in which one can interact with the world. Despite all our potential power and options we still frequently reach for distractions, or habitual behaviours to adjust the way we feel: to escape our state, or recede into familiar spaces.
The pace with which we are developing as a conscious species is accelerating. We are becoming intensely aware of own conditions as well as those of others. There is much to do, in order to prepare ourselves for the changes that are in progress. There is a conscious awakening occurring and as more and more of us raise our level of consciousness, there has never been a better, or easier time to tune in and ascend.
If one is seeking to master oneself, understanding the Chakras is enlightening. The model charts an ancient schematic of our essential selves, eloquently and succinctly revealing the mechanisms and structures of the unseen workings of our subtle selves.
Each Chakra has its own reason for being, relating to specific aspects of our lives; our conditions, drives and tendencies; all leading ultimately to our sense of self and where we fit in the world. Individually, they speak of primordial impulses and they collectively comprise the entire range of human experience.
One of their main roles is as beacons, directing us to dysfunctional and painful aspects of our lives we have yet to clear and resolve. Conversely, each offers us a rich experience of our ultimate selves, each providing our consciousness with unexpected somatic wisdom.
Understanding which is which, where it is and what it relates to is an important part of the process but it is extremely useful to begin with an experience.
For this, we return to the suggestions from Part 1; silencing the analytical, linguistic left brain and becoming aware of internal sensation. Let us begin with the Heart, the centre of our energetic engine:
Take your attention to your heart area and silently observe the sensations therein and thereabouts.
Close your eyes and breathe in deeply from the belly, up to the ribcage and into the heart area.
Visualise the heart area filling with light and feel for the sensations you are actually experiencing in the heart area.
You might let out a sigh as you exhale, or chant the word JUNG, directing the vibration towards the heart.
After only a few breathes you should begin to feel the effects. It's really very simple! Silencing the analytical mind opens us to the perception of subtle sensation. First and foremost, we are conscious energy beings.
Try this simple 4 step Heart practice until you feel you are becoming adept at it. It's a bit of a "wipe on, wipe off" Karate Kid process (showing my age there!), meaning it's a result that's only achieved through practice, willingness and surrender.
You really can do this anywhere, anytime. In fact I encourage you to, particularly when you're in a space where little Heart is experienced - a commuter train, in your office, walking along a high street...
When optimised, the Chakras vibrate in a glorious, harmonious unison, to the eternal sound of the divine. To reach that climax, one must explore each in turn, detect what needs resolving/clearing and attune one's self to the deep life lesson each Chakra offers us.
Next, we'll be exploring the Root Chakra, own literal foundations.
In love x

How to experience our Chakras - Part 1
Many have heard of the chakras but few grasp their significance and even fewer really experience them. They relate to parts of the physical body but are better understood as aspects of the subtle body.
Modern days humans have been taught to believe only what can be proven by replicable scientific study, or whatever is deemed to be true by mass consensus. However, there is an entire realm that lies largely undiscovered by most people, especially by us in the developed world.
If you grew up in the west, it's highly likely you are left brain, yang dominant, concerned primarily with structure, concepts and planning. The subtle realm is accessed via the right brain, when structure and form are subordinated to the experience of awareness and presence.
One of the most popular TED talks features Jill Taylor, a brain scientist who explains her experience of a stroke that shut down her left brain's function. As her motion, speech and self-awareness ebbed away, she was left with only pure consciousness.
I'm not suggesting that a stroke is the best way of experiencing the subtle self, just illustrating the simplest method by which one experiences it. It is only once the mechanical, structural left brain is subdued, that the right brain can become more prominent.
As we stand here and now as human adults, our left brain function is strongly dependent on language, image and expectation. Language is the method by which we form our understanding of the world; image, the structural form of memory; and expectations are the catalysts that ensure these structures pervade our future.
There's nothing 'wrong' with the right brain and its associated structures, its just that these need to be put down in order to connect with the subtle self and its beautiful, expansive potentials.

The Magic of the Mudras
Perhaps you've been doing Yoga and Meditation for a while, and maybe you'd like to explore the Mudras. Perhaps that's why you're here!!
The primary purpose of a Mudra is to create a circuit between the meridians, so that the essence that flows along them circulates more easily. As you know, we're into Chakras around here, so we've been exploring the Chakra Mudras! And we'd love to share them with you.
As you explore the below, sense internally the subtle shift in the flow of your energetic self. It may be a localised sensation in the hands, or more frequently, it's experienced as a shift throughout the entire system, as an intensification of presence, or solidity.
 ROOT CHAKRA
Let the tips of your thumb and index finger touch, extend the other fingers, palms up, resting on the knees.  Concentrate on the Root Chakra, between the genitals and the anus. & Chant the sound LAM, or LUNG.
SACRAL CHAKRA
Hands in your lap, palms up, right hand on top, tips of the thumbs touching gently. Concentrate on the Sacral Chakra at the sacral bone (on the lower back). & Chant the sound VAM, or VUNG.
SOLAR CHAKRA
Put your palms together, slightly below your solar plexus, finger pointing away, right thumb over left.  Concentrate on the Navel chakra located on the spine, a bit above the level of the navel. & Chant the sound RAM, or RUNG.
HEART CHAKRA
Join your index finger and thumb extending the fingers, palm up, with left hand on your left knee and your right hand on your heart. Concentrate on the Heart chakra in the centre of the chest. & Chant the sound JAM, or JUNG.
THROAT CHAKRA
Cross your fingers on the inside of your hands, without the thumbs. Let the thumbs touch at the tops, and pull them slightly up. Concentrate on the Throat chakra at the base of the throat. & Chant the sound HAM, or HUNG.
3RD EYE CHAKRA
With the middle fingers straight and touching at the tops, bend the other finger touching at the upper two phalanges. The thumbs point towards you and touch at the tops. Concentrate on the Third Eye chakra slightly above the middle of the eyebrows. & Chant the sound OM or AUM.
CROWN CHAKRA
Cross all of your fingers, with the little fingers extended, together and pointing up. Concentrate on the Crown chakra at the top of your head. & Chant the sound NG (as in siNG).
Play with these gentle at any time and enjoy the magical effects of these simple tools. They are a particularly nice addition to your yoga and meditation practice xx
