I both pity and envy vocaloid fans who came into the community after the era of horrible subs. Like yeah a majority of the old sub channels are horrible but come on can you really hate a channel that uploads a subbed vocaloid song with translations like: “Ants are moving hard, I will live hard too.”, “I stepped you by fault.”, and the legendary “That night the boy died from missing.” I’m not kidding these are all real lines from whstmdgks’ translation of Ant Observation. Point is, although early subs may have been most of the time terrible and inaccurate, they have a very distinct charm to them and where would I even be without Lordxwillie’s atrocious subs.

To be completely honest I have mixed feelings regarding (Not) a Devil, because I do like most of the song I just think that PinocchioP and Deco*27 don’t mesh together super well and (Not) a Devil feels more like a Deco*27 song with some different Miku tuning rather than a mutual collaboration between the two is that makes sense. I also think the song is a bit repetitive but that’s just me. All things considered I do think (Not) a Devil is a good song, I just think that both Deco*27 and PinocchioP do better things on their own. However this is just all my personal opinion as someone who knows very little about music composition and all that so take what I say with a grain of salt.

I know everyone makes fun of Pane Dhiria but not gonna lie although the Kaito tuning is…questionable, the instrumental version goes so ridiculously hard and it’s honestly really cool.

I’m feeling sentimental tonight, so I’d like to just like to write a bit about something. I was listening to the Vocaloid Songs Ten Years Later by Pinocchio-P, and for some reason, as I lay there alone in my bed, I cried. Vocaloid is something that I don’t think I’ll ever be able to separate myself from, because for me at least, vocaloid goes beyond the music. It’s many things. It’s my memories of 6th grade, when I was introduced to it by a friend, us sharing earbuds as we waited for our bus to leave. It’s my emotions when I was preparing to graduate, when I was left alone as the only person in my friend group to like vocaloid after middle school, but then found others who shared as much love for vocaloid as I do. It’s my creativity, when I wrote my first song, with clumsy lyrics and messy composition. Looking back on the memories and friends I’ve made, I can say that vocaloid played a large role in many of them, all the songs pile up in my mind as I find it harder and harder to imagine what my life would be like if I had never listened to a vocaloid song, on that rainy day, waiting on the bus.

Thank you to everyone who has made the me I am now a possibility through your vocaloid songs and music videos. Thank you for everything.

If you like vocaloid shoegaze I highly recommend the EP Blood Color Flower by Wintermute, it’s hands down one of the best vocaloid shoegaze albums I’ve listened to recently. Also the song Coffee Made Body from that EP has had a stranglehold on me for like the past week.

I burned a CD for Ippo.tsk’s new album Seeyalater Stratocaster! I wanted to capture the energy of old notebook doodles, and I think I did a decent job.
