So have y’all heard of Thirst for Vengeance, (written by @seafoamgalaxy ), aka one of my favorite vampire fics of all time, aka the initial reason I made a fic rec collection? Well NOW YOU HAVE and if I’ve done my job right, you’re now very eager to go read it and leave a gushing comment.

I drew most of this art a while ago—gosh, like 6 months—but due to Seafoam’s recent reboot of a different four swords vampire au, I was inspired to go and finish this to post it. (You should go read that one too. It’s awesome.)

In conclusion: go right now to read Thirst for Vengeance, an 8.2k fic with vampires, some of my favorite kinds of whump, a healthy dose of the best kind of vidow, an awesome Blue pov, a fantastic mage Red, a smart Green, and some of the best atmosphere I’ve ever read in a fic. Ugh I can’t say enough. (I already said a lot in the comments…) (seafoam is my friend and a very good writer besides) (so this is me recc’ing more of their works too)

The generators you've made have been really helpful with brainstorming when I get stuck on trying to make decisions, so I'm wondering if you have any random generators for locations? Like, Faron Woods in Sky's era, Lon Lon Ranch in Four's era, etc.

Aww thank you so much!! :) I'm glad you find them useful!!

I don't have a specific one for locations, but the general LU prompt generator does have one kind of built in! If you check only the "canon-adjacent" box for the "AUs and Settings" portion, that will get you a location that is in one of the games. :)

For those of you who don't know, I have some fun LU and LoZ (and general) generators! I input all of the options myself (sometimes copy/paste from wikis) and the program picks one randomly with the right parameters. Here are a few of them:

Linked Universe Writing Prompt Generator: generate a small group of characters, a location or AU, and a short tag-like prompt.

Legend of Zelda Enemy Generator: choose which games you'd like to use, and generate a random enemy! Good for getting a greater variety of canon monsters in your work.

Linked Universe Crossover Mania!: lists the LU boys and randomly assigns a game or three to each of them. (E.g. "Four: Breath of the Wild, Triforce Heroes)

Whump Prompt Generator: not LoZ, but helpful anyway. Generates a "stress," a "cause," and a "twist."

Go forth! Make fun things! Comb the wikis for more reasons for angst!!

(Feel free to ignore) I love me some good ol Sky (LU) breathing issues fic, but the way most folks default to asthma symptoms made me curious if like, reverse altitude sickness is a thing? And apparently it is! It's called High-Altitude De-Acclimatization Syndrome, and some of the symptoms include dizziness, headaches, insomnia, restlessness, fatigue, shortness of breath, nausea, memory loss, and something I haven't looked up yet but am intensely intruiged by called oxidative stress.

Anyway I'm learning fascinating things about the Sherpa and Quechua people and the different adaptations that they've developed living at such extreme heights.

Ahaha no worries!! I love learning new things, the world is so big and beautiful. That's a very interesting condition, would be neat to give it or something like it to Sky for sure!!

in my post-canon verse I think Vio doesn't try to bring Shadow Link back

actually, he actively tries to avoid outwardly acknowledging Shadow was even a part of his life. Vio wants Shadow to stay dead.

Vio betrayed Shadow for the sake of Hyrule, and if he could go back in time, he'd do the same exact thing again. but it doesn't change the fact that he damaged Shadow and his counterparts' trust in the process. maybe, in a way, it makes it worse. like he's appalled at himself for justifying how much pain he's caused. if Vio could excuse himself for betraying Shadow and hurting his comrades for "greater good", then what else would he excuse himself for? how far would he take it?

I think in a convoluted way, Vio doesn't necessarily feel guilty for what he did. he feels guilty for NOT feeling guilty in the moment. it's like a "wow I really did that" reflection kind of guilt

it's a deeply uncomfortable feeling to have, and Vio has no idea how to work through it. so instead, he just tried to repress it. Hyrule is saved, Zelda is saved, his family is alive and well. that's all that matters. Vio has to tell himself this in order to live with himself

but then Shadow comes back into Vio's life—against both of their wills—and Shadow is furious. that's when Vio realizes he doesn't have a choice: he can't run away from his guilt anymore

Link, well Four if he kept the nickname, though he didn't know if he actually needed it, had had to accept part of his nature was 'crybaby'. He wouldn't call it that out loud… well, okay, he absolutely would if he split again, but the point was it sounded better to say he was empathetic.

'Uh huh, crybaby.'

Yes, yes, Blue, we all know what you think.

Anyway, that was fine, he could deal with that, and right now he was cutting a deal with that big-feeling part of his soul. He was going to have such a good cry, okay? It was going to be great, he would grieve Shadow and his Father, and being portalnapped, and the fact that the merging of the disparate parts of his soul obviously hadn't worked properly, and he was now fundamentally and perhaps irreparably broken as a person.

But, BUT, he wasn't allowed to let it overwhelm him yet. He had to get somewhere safe first, had to schedule the breakdown. Because right now he was trekking across monster-infested countryside with a smug dickhead who was obviously going through some shit, and the pretty boy platonic ideal of a perfect knight (his father would have adored him) who kept looking at Four like he was working out the correct way to handle him.

Ha! Too bad Sir Sparkles, even Four didn't know how to handle himself!
