All the Shakespearean tragedies with their lovers and terrible deaths leading to Nuala associating death and romance, which is why she saw solving murders with May as romantic…if that’s anything

Okay question one since it's pride what are nulua, may and eric personalitys. Nulua i think is a pansexual one, may i think is uhh maybe straghit ally or bi and eric i think is aco ace(dont see him dating anyone or getting a love inteset) question two did Kitty found her true love in here,question 3 what happened to daisy family(except bertie, felix, aunt e and aunt lucy. And finall will Nulua may or eric get love interts or is it never gonna happen

Eric I think is up for debate, as I’m not sure he’s worked through those questions yet. I show Nuala being attracted to, or at least interested in, characters of different genders, so I think you’re right on that one … but May is absolutely not cishet. Her gender is somewhere between ‘pirate’ and ‘horrid little boy’ and her sexuality is … up for debate, she wouldn’t admit to being interested in ANYONE yet but that’s not entirely true.

Something very weird happened to this ask, a brand new and fascinating tumblr glitch, so I’m answering it here.

The thing I will say about merch is that the rights to produce it are generally reserved to be bundled up with film and TV, and sold as a package deal - a film studio/tv company would want to be able to produce merch (Funkos, costumes, diaries etc) that ties in to its production. So that’s why you haven’t seen much merch until now. We’re just gonna have to wait for that tv deal …

In terms of crushes, yes and no? I think to write about someone your character has a crush on, you have to imagine you have a crush on them yourself. So as Hazel I have a crush on Alexander, as Daisy I have a crush on Amina and so on, but as Robin Stevens I think they’re both … sort of my children, like all of my child characters. I have had absolutely mega crushes on fictional characters in my time but they’ve never been in books I’ve written, just books I’ve read!

Hi I was just wondering why so many of your characters now fall in the LGBTQ+ community? This is just a question as in the first books it was an occasional character but now it feels like every character. I don’t mean any offence by this they are your characters and you can do anything you want with them, and you portray them really well, I was just wondering if there was a reason for this?

Hi, Robin! I just wondered, right now I’m on Mistletoe and murder, and I was wondering, in jolly foul play, Daisy and Hazel get into a big argument (You know it’s about my fictional crush, Alexander.) I wanted to know if ever you feel bad for your characters, putting them in fights? I write books myself for fun. But when it comes to putting them in arguments, I just can’t do it. How do you do it? And, in mistletoe and murder, do you recall writing about Chummy saying ‘Two Chinese people, we English people are beginning to feel outnumbered!’ ? Same thing with that. My heart ached for Hazel. You know? Just wondering if yours did too?

I think the most important thing to remember about writing fiction is that it’s a form of play. And a really crucial function of play is practice. It’s kind of like a rehearsal for real life.

So when I write about sad things happening to my characters, I’m doing it for two reasons: first, as a form of practice for myself - how would I cope if this happened to me, how did I cope, how might I have coped better, how might I avoid doing this or that cruel thing? And second as a form of practice for my readers. A lot of people will experience big life moments (loss of a grandparent or parent, first crush, friendship breakup, a big move, parents divorcing) through my characters first, and that will help them know how to react when it does happen to them in real life.

Think of writing as a way to get out all of your fears and worries. I know that some people write to comfort themselves - and I do that for sure! - but I also think it’s important to write to explore the less comforting parts of the world. If you express it, you usually find that it’s less scary than you might have been imagining, and you begin to imagine how you might triumph over it.
