i hope logan knows that he is badly missed on the f1 grid by many. pretty sure this is the first miami gp in a hot minute without him on the grid and- throughout all the media coverage i'm mostly thinking about him. i miss having an american driver on the grid. i try not to think about all he's given up throughout his life to reach 'the pinnacle of motorsport'. i wish we could watch him kick field goals and throw footballs and do all the 'miami floridian american' things that is vaguely novel for these drivers but is heritage for him. don't get me wrong i'm so happy the guy seems to be living his best life but i also just want him to know that he left an impact on the grid that can't be filled so easily. miami gp is still his home gp to me.

saw people sorting f1 drivers into hogwarts houses and having some horrifically bad takes and i badly want to correct it and set the record straight but FUCK jk rowling and ethical interaction with the harry potter series is getting complicated given how much of a pain in the ass she is so...maybe i'll just proxy name all the houses something dumb like "puffleshuff" and "flytherin" or something

y’all have to be joking. there’s 24 races this season and he’s already raced for like 8 or 9 seasons BUT YOU ONLY HAVE ONE FIRSTBORN CHILD??????? of course if his baby is on its way HE’S NOT IN THE FUCK ASS 305

and have you all considered that ferrari must be the red car on the grid at all times because that's 95% of the reason charles wanted to be a ferrari driver??? have you considered that the only thing he ever says about ferrari is that he saw the red car and knew he must drive it?? have you ever considered that the ferrari powers-that-be may fear that if he ever saw the car in some other fuck-ass color, the red may lose its hold over him?? what then??

Here are a few of my thoughts about our duo:
Lando’s self criticism isn’t petulant and defeated—it’s aching, full of intent, and a desire to deliver. He understands his mistakes and shoulders responsibility, all while continuing to show up with openness and honesty. It’s grit and resilience. A championship mentality.
Oscar’s natural stoicism does not lack passion and intensity. It shows a relentless pursuit of excellence under pressure and a quiet confidence that is never rooted in arrogance. He bounces back quickly, not because he’s cold, but because he’s passionate. A championship mentality.
They are different. Complementary. A championship won by either one of them will look differently. I stand by them both. I believe in them both.

i think it's frankly ridiculous that lando has to keep explaining his archetype to people and justifying 'a lack of confidence'. i think it's ridiculous that the mainstream media continues to pick apart whether lando's 'mental health' is a hindrance to him winning the world championship. isn't this exactly the kind of thing he's fought his entire career to prevent?
i am not a confident person. i come off that way because i'm slightly brash and i have a lot of opinions and i hate injustice but at my bones, in my spirit, i'm a bit of a coward. i am always afraid of my own propensity for failure. and i am extremely cautious, even in the areas where i have skill. that's how i was raised- told over and over that arrogance is unseemly to the point that confidence bled into the same definition. that does not mean i am not worthy of success.
when lando is assertive, we find his arrogance 'off-putting'. when he shrinks back, we find his humility 'cowardly'. when he is frank, we wonder how someone so open and transparent about their worries could ever have the mental toughness for a championship. when he holds things back, we 'miss the old lando'. none of us fucking deserve him. in a way i find him just like charles - when everything is stripped away, and they have emerged from the car after a session, and it's not a stupid social media video or a fan stage - it's about the racing and its about the fight they've dedicated themselves to, they are both entirely human. their emotion is obvious, the way they cannot settle for their own inadequacies or their team's inadequacies. it is something wrung from the very depths of them and it is what makes their successes so damn satisfying.
what i want from my favorite racing drivers is everything that they are – brilliant on track and clearly hardworking passionate individuals off it. forcing someone to apologize for their "lack of confidence" is a fun new kind of fucked up torture. and it's happening all over the place this season and i can't stand it. lando deserves so much fucking better than this. the point of mental health awareness is not to generate two horrible extremes: never talking about it or blaming every failure on it. it's acknowledging that everyone has bad days. it's acknowledging that that's a facet of building greatness, but everyone reckons with it differently.

MAX FEWTRELL AND PIETRA SAYING OSCAR'S FUCKING BRILLIANT AS A PERSON AND AS A DRIVER I'M SCREAMING NO ONE TALK TO ME
i am actually praying for lando and oscar to stay as respectful and close as they are despite fighting for a championship; we need another rafa-federer that's like competitors on the track all love off the track because that's what sportsmanship is. leave it all on the track – blood, sweat, and tears. losing and winning are part of the process. but a solid friendship with a generationally talented teammate (on both sides) is worth its weight in gold and is incredible representation for fans young and old.

just saw a team torque throwback of logan sargeant talking about how badly he wanted to fly in an american fighter jet hot on the heels of williams dropping that teaser of alex and james flying with the blue angels for the miami gp (LOGAN'S HOME FUCKING RACE) anyways that was a really great reminder that despite how much i like carlos and alex and despite how much in the vacuum of 2025 i respect james vowles the way williams treated logan was so fucking sick and twisted. even with all of my favorite drivers and my favorite teams logan sargeant was my country's driver. that lick of patriotism that always exists in me wants him back so damn badly. he deserved a good nurturing environment and time and he got williams pre-glow up.
