Welcome! I'm a newcomer to Islam. I thought an online community could expand my horizons. I need an outlet for my inner findings and all my questions. I'd like it serve as a blog for the appreciation of Allah and for keeping my iman strong and fresh. As long as you're respectful I'd discuss religion related matters with you, who knows, maybe both of us will learn something from it.

Dear Reverts,
Don’t give up.
Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: “We believe,” and will not be tested? Surat Al-‘Ankabut [29:2]
You might feel alone. The loneliness in your heart because you can’t tell your family who you are. You might...

Quote
Do not try to run away from trials and tribulations, but endure them with patience. They cannot be avoided, and there is nothing for it but to endure them with patience. How can you expect the whole of this world, and all that has been created therein, to undergo change and transformation just to suit your convenience? The Prophets are the best of all creatures, yet they have always had to suffer afflictions and so it is for their followers, those who tread in their footsteps as they walk along their highway, emulating their example.

So will they not repent to Allah and seek His forgiveness? And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

intro post
This blog serves the purpose of learning more about Islam and encourage myself and others to share the faith and love. I've reverted to Islam recently, in the light of events I'm afraid I cannot talk about yet. An epiphany dawned on me (sure it was more complicated than that.) and I started to see some things clearer, and I'll say Alhamdulillah for that.
I'm not so comfortable sharing unnecessary personal info but here's all you'd want to know:
- I'm 21. Female. Neither Arabic nor English is my native tongue, so I hope you'll excuse me when I don't understand some terms of Islam. I want to learn as quickly as possible though! I have college, all my life I have lived a very different lifestyle than a Muslim lifestyle and so do all my friends/family so I'm a little confused whether I'm doing most things right lately.
- My knowledge about religion is limited. I know the very basics of iman but I don't have enough knowledge to pray or practice Islam yet. I mean, I only memorized 3 Surah's! I make dua (that's the right term right?) with those and from my heart. I was not brought up religiously, my family is quite secular so they're against forcing beliefs on other people, I was merely taught some stuff about Islam and all my knowledge comes from that.
- A few weeks ago I reverted to Islam and I feel I don't know enough I'm anxious to know more about it! I have no one to teach me how to pray etc so I find everything quite hard and confusing. I made this tumblr in order to learn more from helpful Muslim brothers and sisters.
- I'll make a clear point of where I come from though: I was an agnostic person with the need of scientific proof. An aggressive one at that. I did respect those with belief and I supported their right to it but sometimes I did get caught off guard and thought less of them. I had declared that we cannot know anything unless we get proof whether a god exists or not. I believed that if there's a god and if there's indeed afterlife, god would be pleased with those whose good deeds are more than their bad deeds anyway. That being a good person in the world; helping others, being respectful and kind, loving those who are close to us and all of mankind would be the ones to get rewarded. But I realize now, I've missed an important point:
- As little as I've read Quran, I could tell what's clearly stated, that the first and foremost rule of being rewarded is the iman and the praying. You could be a great person at heart, feed a thousand hungry people or make hospitals or become a doctor and save lifes, it won't matter because when you're denying the word of Allah, you're committing a big sin, Shirk.
- So yes, still questions come in my head; Some people were so good and giving to society, like Gandhi, like Mother Theresa, won't they get rewarded because they weren't Muslim? So I think only Allah knows the true deeds in people's hearts and if they are good or bad people.
This was supposed to be an intro post but it got quite lengthy :) Please, feel free to follow me and say hi/ask me questions in my ask box. Respect goes a long way, please don't be negative about personal things. All of the constructive criticism is appreciated.
