First things first.  Yes, Iris is in this alot.  No, there is no secret marriage. This is not a spoiler, this was referenced in the previous story in this series. The Carlos in this universe is a step to the left of the Carlos in canon, and he has different experiences.  Also, this is my unhinged AU, which means I get to pick and choose which bits of canon I work with.   I did not vibe with that one.

Second things second.  This was going to be a caper, y'all.  It was going to be a short caper.  Carlos and TK were going to go to NOLA and help the Leverage crew take care of some business , and, I don't know, eat beignets and popsicles.  Why popsicles and not po'boys?  Because the last time I was in NOLA I had the best popsicles of my life - they sadly no longer exist, but I can resurrect them for fic.  I also had excellent po'boys, but the popsicles were better.

[eyes fic] I don't know what happened?  Okay, I do know.  One of the weird upsides to writing a series is that you get to deal in consequences and messy afters, and the way that making a decision isn't the end to that decision, and what you did last time around keeps echoing in what you do this time.  Nothing exists in isolation.  And, I love love a story about what happens after - after the war, after the quest, after the reveal.  How do you rebuild, what happens next.  That is my die-hard kink.  Also, there was S4 of Lonestar and I had . . . thoughts, questions, concerns, reactions.  I worked them out in fic.

Third things third.  My characterization of Trudie in this fic owes a debt to Mags Bennett in S2 of Justified.  She was terrifying, and ruthless, and totally in control, and one of the most interesting characters - she's why that season was so good.  Also, go watch Justified, it's fantastic.

Fourth things last.  As ever, don't try this at home y'all, this is not how any of this works.

It's going to be Tarlos's first wedding anniversary next month! How do you think they'll celebrate?

They’re celebrating their first wedding anniversary by finally taking their belated honeymoon!

Their wedding anniversary will always be bittersweet, a reminder of the people they love who were taken from them too soon. Still, it’s their wedding anniversary and their love for and commitment to each other is worth celebrating.

TK’s taken on planning their honeymoon, it’s been a tough year for Carlos and his focus is on taking care of his mum in the lead up to his dad’s anniversary. TK doesn’t mind, he loves Andrea and loved Gabriel too. He wants to do this for Carlos.

Besides, a few months ago, when TK mentioned planning their belated honeymoon to Enzo, he’d cleared his throat the way he always does when he has news.

“You know,” Enzo had said carefully, “your mom always knew Carlos was it for you, that it was only a matter of time before you proposed to him.”

“It could’ve been Carlos,” TK said.

“She knew you, that it would be you.”

TK’s heart had twisted at the reminder of the way his mother had seen him.

“Anyway, she’d set aside money for your honeymoon. She wanted to give the two of you that. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you earlier, it’s just that…”

Enzo didn’t need to finish the sentence. So much had happened in the year leading up to their wedding. Too much for anyone to bear really.

So, with his mother’s gift, TK starts planning a trip to Tuscany because Carlos had mentioned Tuscany once. He’s thwarted when he realises that Carlos doesn’t have a passport and that he can’t exactly obtain one without telling him.

He’d asked Carlos if he could surprise him with their honeymoon - the destination, at least; a contained surprise. TK knows that it had taken an extraordinary amount of trust for Carlos to say yes to even that. His husband is - and TK loves him for it - a control freak. The kind of man who would want to research and plan the minutae of any travel; another reason why Tuscany was probably better left for another time.

TK takes Carlos to Montauk because the idea of spending a week with his husband by the ocean, hopefully wearing very little, is very appealing. They’ll spend some time in New York after that.

TK has plans, most of which involve staring at his husband while they lie on the beach, salty kisses in the ocean and then tasting every inch of Carlos’ sun-warmed skin.

He makes good on those plans, devouring the sight of Carlos spread out against a sea of white cotton, kissing the salt of his skin and letting the sounds he makes etch themselves into the very marrow of his bones.

I do have one unpublished Tarlos ficlet that's kind of a Queen Charlotte inspired future fic that is the saddest thing I've ever written which is the result of @howtosingit saying "whatever you do, don't think about X" which of course meant that I did and I wrote it in a fever dream, cried then buried it in my gdocs.

yes and I love it! I've done collabs where we each write a chapter, one where we each wrote a chapter and then fully co-wrote the final chapter, a full co-write with @welcometololaland (that ended up morphing into each of us alternating chapters), and I'm in the process of another co-write with Lola atm.

What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I don't like to say never, but probably the SC paint & sip au

What are your writing strengths?

based on the comments I get - smut with feelings, banter/dialogue, characterisation

What are your writing weaknesses?

World building, pretty metaphors, I'm far too fond of run on sentences to the point where if I was beta reading my own writing there are SO MANY sentences that need to be cut down so that the reader can breathe.

Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

If it fits the character, I love it! I generally ask a native speaker to help me with translations for accuracy
