You Need To Be ‘Pet Prepared’
One never knows if they will have to evacuate their home for any number of reasons, for any amount of time. Reasons for having to evacuate maybe as simple as loss of power for two or three days. If you do not already have people who will take you and your pets in, you have to be prepared to stay somewhere that will except your pets as well.
Road To Recovery Animal Relief Project strongly recommends that you have an evacuation plan in place for you and your pets. You will want to contact hotels, motels a bit outside of your immediate area that you know are pet friendly. It’s important to find place to go outside of your area because the same conditions that are forcing you out of your home maybe also effecting the hotels and motels close to your home.
You need to have pet food, bowls, litter, litter travel box ready to be packed up. Have travel carriers ready if you need them. Grooming Items and Sanitation Needs: Include grooming supplies and sanitation items like litter and waste disposal materials. Pack favorite toys or bedding to comfort your pet during evacuation.
Also, get to know your neighbors so you can share information on the current conditions at your home, in your neighborhood. Especially if you or your neighbors plan to stay during the event. Keeping a line of communication on your immediate area is crucial for everyone. #storms #plan #dogs #pets #cats #evacuate

The Facts On Vet Financial Assistance
When a pet is faced with a medical emergency due to injury or illness, those pet families who have planned ahead fair the best for their pets. The cold hard facts are that not everyone can get pet insurance or, create their own pet veterinary fund. What makes it even harder, is that a lot of pet families of the elderly on a fixed income won't even qualify for financial assistance with many pet veterinary financial assistance programs out there. Road To Recovery Animal Relief Project wants to change that for elderly on a fixed income.
Be aware that few, if any, organizations will pay for ongoing medication that pets will need for extended periods of time.
It is unlikely that any one organization or program will pay for expensive procedures in their entirety. So be sure to contact as many sources as possible. The grants might be very small, but they can add up if you get help from multiple sources.
Try negotiating with your veterinary clinic for a better price or the ability to finance the cost of care over time. Also, consider getting price comparisons from other providers. CareCredit provides financing for veterinary care; check its website to see whether you qualify.
If possible, contact any possible sources of pet financial assistance before procedures are done. Few sources are willing to pay bills for care that has already been provided.
Most organizations take applications only through email or online forms. If you aren 't computer-savvy, find a friend, relative, or neighbor to help you.
The inclusion of services, organizations, or programs listed below is NOT an endorsement or recommendation. We cannot vouch for these programs, and you should check them out yourself before asking for their aid. Source: www.bestfriends.org

Road To Recovery Animal Relief Project Permanently Suspended From Soon To Be Banned TikTok???
We can't even make this stuff up. Don't wish to spend too much time on this but, the suspending of Road To Recovery Animal Relief Project on soon to be banned TikTok is without a doubt a head scratching disappointment. The Road To Recovery Animal Relief Project joined TikTok one month ago and we have been posting informational 30 second reels. Nothing even remotely controversial but in the spirit of animal awareness. We even verified 'possible' copyright violations through TikTok's own copyright vetting system and was given a green light each and every time. For violating TikTok's terms "multiple times", the Road To Recovery Animal Relief Project NOT ONCE received a notification that we ever violated one term of TikTok's terms of service. Not once. Even though within their terms, they 'claim' that TikTok must send you a 'banner notification' explaining what terms of service you are supposedly violating. Again, no banner was ever sent.
In doing some research, TikTok apparently bans thousands of accounts daily who may or may not have violated their terms of service as a way to show (their stock holders?) that they are generating new accounts every day. Bottom line. No reason to waste time and resources on a social media platform that can destroy your following with a flip of a switch, a flimsy excuse and with no warning.

The Critical Roll Of Service Animals For Those On A Fixed Income.
The 'Road To Recovery Animal Relief Project' works with your generous help (Thank You!!) to serve animals of pet families on limited or fixed incomes. Typically our elderly pet families.
For seniors with service animals, these animals are not just pets but essential companions that provide crucial support and assistance in their daily lives. Service animals are specially trained to perform tasks that help individuals with disabilities maintain independence and improve their quality of life. As such, the well-being of these service animals is paramount to the well-being of their owners.
When faced with veterinary expenses for their service animals, seniors on fixed incomes may encounter difficulties in affording necessary care. Veterinary costs can quickly add up, especially if the animal requires specialized treatments, medications, or surgeries. In some cases, seniors may have to make difficult decisions about prioritizing their own expenses over those of their beloved service animals.
The inability to promptly address veterinary needs due to financial constraints can have detrimental effects on both the service animal and its owner. Delaying or forgoing necessary medical care can compromise the health and well-being of the animal, potentially impacting its ability to perform essential tasks for its owner. Additionally, the emotional distress of seeing one’s service animal suffer due to lack of funds can take a toll on the mental health of seniors.

Employee Benefits For Pets
Some people may not realize that their employer provides pet insurance. Providing pet insurance makes owning a pet more manageable financially for employees.
Comprehensive pet insurance policies typically cover a range of services, including wellness exams, vaccinations, chronic conditions, acute illnesses, and injuries. These policies can help offset the costs associated with veterinary care, which can become expensive, especially for pets with severe medical issues that require ongoing treatment or surgeries.
Check with your employer to see how you can get health insurance for your pet(s).

Fostering Sick Or Injured Animals
As a reminder, you can volunteer to be a 'fostering' pet family member at many shelters in your area. Shelters need animals coming off of medical treatment a safe home environment while the animal rebounds.
When fostering a pet, make sure you consult with the shelter on any special arrangements, the animals medical condition, and in case of an emergency plans. Also consider boundaries between the healing sick and injured fostered animal and your own pets. THANK YOU!!! So very much for your service!!! Also a special shout out to those who go above and beyond by financing medical costs for their adopted shelter animal friends! Thank you so very much

Some Pet Parents Gave Up Pets Due to Inflation
We don’t know the factors on why this individual abandoned this pet outside the gate of the property owner who captured this photo, but pet abandonment is on the rise. A Forbes advisor survey of 2,000 dog and cat owners found that nearly two-thirds (63%) of pet owners said inflation has made it more difficult to pay a surprise vet bill. Some Pet Parents Gave Up Pets Due to Inflation.
While the majority of pet owners have held onto their pets, 3% of pet owners said in the past year they gave their pet to an animal shelter, rescue organization for adoption or to a friend or family member.
Of those who gave up their pet, 12% said that inflation made it too expensive for everyday costs such as pet food and veterinary care, while 7% said they could not afford their pet’s medical bills.
Some pet owners (10%) cited rising rent and the necessity to move to a non-pet-friendly apartment as a reason they gave up their pet. A smaller percentage (5%) of pet owners said that their landlord’s pet deposit was too expensive and caused them to give up their pet.
Today, about 70% of U.S. households have pets. Many owners struggle to cover the costs of veterinary care. - Source Forbes
Today, about 70% of U.S. households have pets. Many owners struggle to cover the costs of veterinary care.
Amanda Hilton is the Pet Resource Center and Intake Manager at the Young-Williams Animal Center in Knoxville, which takes in about 1000 animals a month. Hilton says roughly 20% are owner surrenders, often because of housing policies that prohibit pets medical care owners can't afford.
"It does happen often that seems like the only option. I know I don't have the money to go take my pet to the vet. There's one option left, and that's the local shelter."
Source PBS
Animal shelters are getting hit with pet abandonment on two fronts. One, is the rising cost of pet care. Second, is from owners that can’t afford vet bills to heal their pet(s) Compounding the pet health care problem is pet illness has been on the rise such as cancer cases.
The Road To Recovery Animal Relief Project funds the Road To Recovery Animal Relief Fund. The goal of the fund, is to provide financial relief in the form of grants to pet families who are on a fixed income and can not budget a medical fund for their sick pet that needs immediate medical assistance. Thank you so much for your help!

The story of Thomas the cat is a much big story than just Thomas.
First off THANK YOU!!! for your donations to straycatrelieffund.org for helping Thomas get his life saving surgery!!! The importance of YOUR donations to the pet / animal fund of your choice is more important that you may possibly understand. Funding these life saving medical interventions is not just needed for stray animals but, pet family members on a fixed income also face (no pun intended) the same financial challenges that faced Thomas the cat on getting his lifesaving surgery. Which is the mission of the Road To Recovery Animal Relief Project https://www.road2recoveryfund.org
Life saving medical intervention is not just limited to dogs and cats. Pet families with larger and smaller pet family members also face finical difficulties in times of pet medical emergencies. There are also aquatic animals that need immediate medical attention. Again thank you so very much for your financial help

The Truth About Vet Billing Payment Plans
"The truth is that many vet clinics are small businesses that are not set up to offer payment plans. If they didn't get paid, they couldn't keep their doors open. They would need whole separate staff to administer payment plans, plus eat the cost of clients who bailed on their payments. This would likely drive up costs for the rest of the clients. Other clinics belong to a few nationwide corporations, and they've probably even stricter about not offering plans as a part of corporate policy. The few times I've seen payment plans were exceptions for trusted long-term clients, or a few cases that slipped through the cracks and we didn't have any other option." -From a veterinarian
If you are NOT on a fixed income it is very important that you start your own pet health care fund for your pet(s)
Here are some other resources that may (and MAY should be the key word) help if you are having financial issues with paying for vet clinic bills. https://www.thewildest.com/pet-health/help-paying-veterinary-bills-for-pet

Thank You Harmony Pet Care!
Avoid veterinary rage at the cost of your pet... From Harmony Pet Care...
"We took this kitty in as an emergency urinary obstruction on top of our fully booked today.
The client told us they'd already spent over $4000 with other vets, but the cat was still obstructed.
We treated the cat immediately and resolved the urinary obstruction for $1,200.
We discharged the cat on Sunday despite being closed to make sure that the cat got to go home a day early.
We told them we would be there at 9:00 a.m. despite policy being that we do not to pick ups on Sunday. So my staff took time out of their day off to meet this client. And because they had to wait 30 minutes because they misheard the time we told them, which is on a recorded phone line, this is the kind of threat we get.
I'm sorry to the kitty who will need a new veterinarian clinics BEFORE', because we do not tolerate threats and abuse."
From Road To Recovery Animal Relief Project...
It is extremely important for pet owners to 'vet' (no pun intended) out veterinary clinics BEFORE a pet emergency occurs. Unfortunately, there are pet clinics with a not so good reputation. The client had been to other veterinary clinics to heal this (Savannah) cat. During such a time this client was charged for services by the other clinics that did not heal the cat. This obviously produced a lot of stress (that could have been avoided) for the pet family. No matter the amount of stress we have to keep our cool when dealing with the new clinic trying their best to heal the pet family member. Thank you. Road To Recovery Animal Relief Project will research best clinic vetting tips for pet family members moving forward.

Animal funds can also be set up to not only help animals like this burn victim dog, but funds can also be set up as a 'reward' ($10,000 in this case) fund to find the guilty party(s)

Wild fires don't just effect people, they effect animals that need help as well. With the latest Texas wild fires animals suffer from respiratory injuries due to smoke inhalation, burns of course, and with horses the super heated ground can cause hoofs to get so inflamed that the hoof comes off altogether in about a week's time.

If you're not on a fixed income yet, can not afford pet insurance, start your own 'pet emergency fund'. Add to the fund each and every time you can add something to it. Over time, you can use the fund to pay for pet insurance, keep adding to the fund so you can also pay for any up front costs that the pet insurance may not cover.

The Compassion Animal Project awarded National Honor Society student Nasira with a grant to help Cooper (in photo) recover from fractured femur after being hit by a car. Cooper is the last remaining link his owner, now Nasira, has to her grandfather.
When a illness or injury occurs to a pet, the pet family due to no fault of their own, can't always afford the necessary car for the pet. Organizations like the Compassion Animal Project and the Road To Recovery Animal Relief fund help save animals because of people like you.
