how to find literally any post on a blog in seconds (on desktop)

there are so many posts about ~tumblr is so broken, you can’t find any post on your own blog, it’s impossible, bluhrblub~

I am here to tell you otherwise! it is in fact INCREDIBLY easy to find a post on a blog if you’re on desktop/browser and you know what you’re doing:

url.tumblr.com/tagged/croissant will bring up EVERY post on the blog tagged with the specific and exact phrase #croissant. every single post, every single time. in chronological order starting with the most recent post. note: it will not find #croissants or that time you made the typo #croidnssants. for a tag with multiple words, it’s just /tagged/my-croissant and it will show you everything with the exact phrase #my croissant

url.tumblr.com/tagged/croissant/chrono will bring up EVERY post on the blog tagged with the exact phrase #croissant, but it will show them in reverse order with the oldest first 

url.tumblr.com/search/croissant isn’t as perfect at finding everything, but it’s generally loads better than the search on mobile. it will find a good array of posts that have the word croissant in them somewhere. could be in the body of the post (op captioned it “look at my croissant”) or in the tags (#man I want a croissant). it won’t necessarily find EVERYTHING like /tagged/ does, but I find it’s still more reliable than search on mobile. you can sometimes even find posts by a specific user by searching their url. also, unlike whatever random assortment tumblr mobile pulls up, it will still show them in a more logically chronological order

url.tumblr.com/day/2020/11/05 will show you every post on the blog from november 5th, 2020, in case you’re taking a break from croissants to look for destiel election memes 

url.tumblr.com/archive/ is search paradise. easily go to a particular month and see all posts as thumbnails! search by post type! search by tags but as thumbnails now

url.tumblr.com/archive/filter-by/audio will show you every audio post on your blog (you can also filter by other post types). sometimes a little imperfect if you’re looking for a video when the op embedded the video in a text post instead of posting as a video post, etc

url.tumblr.com/archive/tagged/croissant will show you EVERY post on the blog tagged with the specific and exact phrase #croissant, but it will show you them in the archive thumbnail view divided by months. very useful if you’re looking for a specific picture of a croissant that was reblogged 6 months ago and want to be able to scan for it quickly 

url.tumblr.com/archive/filter-by/audio/tagged/croissant will show you every audio post tagged with the specific phrase #croissant (you can also filter by photo or text instead, because I don’t know why you have audio posts tagged croissant) 

the tag system on desktop tumblr is GENUINELY amazing for searching within a specific blog! 

caveat: this assumes a person HAS a desktop theme (or “custom theme”) enabled. a “custom theme” is url.tumblr.com, as opposed to tumblr.com/url. I’ve heard you have to opt-into the former now, when it used to be the default, so not everyone HAS a custom theme where you can use all those neat url tricks. 

if the person doesn’t have a “custom theme” enabled, you’re beholden to the search bar. still, I’ve found the search bar on tumblr.com/url is WAY more reliable than search on mobile. for starters, it tends to bring posts up in a sensible order, instead of dredging up random posts from 2013 before anything else

if you’re on mobile, I’m sorry. godspeed and good luck finding anything. (my one tip is that if you’re able to click ON a tag rather than go through the search bar, you’ll have better luck. if your mutual has recently reblogged a post tagged #croissant, you can click #croissant and it’ll bring up everything tagged #croissant just like /tagged/croissant. but if there’s no readily available tag to click on, you have to rely on the mobile search bar and its weird bizarre whims)

So I was prescribed lorazepam for my panic attacks back in 2021 and I need to share my most recent experience at the doctor

so I got these meds in 2021 and I'm highly medicated (according to the nurse practitioner at my school) and luckily my meds work really well so I didn't really ever need my panic attack meds so I very very rarely used them

well this past year has been SO bad and so I've had to take them more often and since I never used them up in 2021 these suckers are WAYYYYYY expired so I'm like OK yeah I should probably get some more so I bring my bottle with me to the doctors office because I figure I should probably have proof that I was actually prescribed them since the psychiatrist who originally gave them to me retired

and it's a good thing I did because I learned lorazepam is a benzo???? like I had no idea

so then I'm telling the NP how when I was first given the pills I took them every single night to fall asleep because ironically the thought of taking them gave me anxiety and I assumed I should probably take them every day because I had never been medicated before and this is an anxiety med so I should take it every day right?

DO. NOT. DO. THAT. holy shit bro

like my original psych failed to tell me that they were only for like panic attacks/super high anxiety every so often- it was not an ssri or a daily med or anything it's actually highly addictive (and I did become dependent on them to sleep) and again it's a benzo (controlled substance)

anyway my new NP was shocked that it was never explained to me properly and like I eventually figured it out back then and stopped taking them every night- and now that I'm on a new course of meds from when I was first prescribed it I don't need it that often anyways (which is a super good thing)

but damn I had no idea I was taking

A. super expired drugs lol (I never checked the expiration date... it was fine though just possibly less potent)

B. a second addictive and controlled substance

so like... moral of the story is to ask your care team why you're getting certain meds and how to take them properly lmao

also do research on medications- I did back then but I still assumed I was supposed to take it every day because I felt anxious every day I'm glad I was put on a different sedative that I actually can take every day and that I stopped that bad habit super early/quick

I think it is incredibly rude and homophonic that my university dryer made me stay up an extra hour and pay another $5 to dry my clothes because it didn't do it right the first time

I am SLEEPY but I'm too wired to sleep because I have an unfinished task (I can't fold/put them away because roomate is trying to sleep and thats rude I already made her stay up late with me by watching youtube to stay awake)

my entire campus cheered when we hit totality I heard fireworks going off from the block party uptown the bird were all silent as they assumed their day must have been extra short everybody I knew had eyes on the sky and were taking photos and videos. we saw Jupiter and other stars twinkle at us while we were celebrating that earth gets to see beautiful things like this and we get to watch it with people we love

which for birds is over 8.1 BILLION base pairs and they did the ENTIRE GENOME that's coding and non coding that's all the viral history, mitochondrial dna, and all the ancestral history like that's so fucking coooooool but anyways they redid the phylogenetic tree!!!

and we were surprisingly close before this study (which like JUST came out- I'll try to find it when I'm sober) but now we have things like flamingos and pigeons or hawks/owls/eagles being all shifted around- I'll try to explain this later when I can THINK

also guys. I need to stress again how cool the WHOLE genome sequencing thing is especially in birds!!!

birds are ANCIENT much older than mammals I mean they're reptiles after all but with that comes like a fuck ton of genomic data

majority of these strands are "non coding" which means they just kinda exist and don't do any work but this is also composed of your genomic HISTORY which means it has your viral data

viruses inject their DNA sequences into your chromosomes and then they get replicated by asexual reproduction and those slow gradual injections of these viruses over time will change the phenotypic traits- that's what evolution is! (kinda- don't forget that babies also combine new DNA together so then you have mom/dad and their viral history allllllll mixing together- kinda?? man idk)

do you catch what I'm throwing here??? this shows the history of all viruses since the age of birds!!! (kinda... sorta? don't think about it too hard- I'm not! I can't think)

jeez I got off topic.... but the point is (I think) that they have 8.1 billion base pairs in a modern bird wanna know how many a human has? a human who can be like 100x the size of one of those little bitty bir-
