my mind is plagued with thoughts of timothy stoker.

the fact that most people at the archives couldn’t get close to him because of the walls he kept up. the fact that we see him grow bitter and resentful, towards jon specifically. the fact that, after learning about not-sasha, he only trusts jon even though he could never forgive him. the fact that he fully intended to die while stopping the unknowing. the fact that the unknowing never could have succeeded. the fact that he died for nothing.

and i know he would’ve been tearing out his eyes as soon as he knew they were his ticket out of the archives. honestly, if tim were there, jon might’ve gone to him first after learning about it.

i need to yap about kris and dess.

i personally believe ( based on very little info, i know ) that kris looked up to dess. i think they thought she was the coolest person in the world, and tenna does say that they all thought she was really cool. i have a hc that dess had a dyed white streak in her hair, which is why kris has that in the rhythm game. that’s probably not true, but i like the idea.

if dess is the knight, something i believe wholeheartedly, that means we have seen kris try to emulate her in their poses ( the act pose, and the crossed arms one ).

i also think the fact that both characters are heavily tied to music is very intentional and will be important later in the game. another hc of mine is that dess was the one who initially taught kris how to play piano. she plays a lot of instruments ( violin, flute, drums, guitar ) even though guitar is her main one, so it isn’t far fetched. dess is likely a songwriter ( the homemade band posters and the fact that she most likely wrote raise up your bat ), so it makes sense that she would utilize piano when writing music. i think kris enjoyed it, practiced hard, then surpassed dess when it came to skill on the piano.

i also feel like the lost girl portion of raise up your bat is dess talking to kris. at least, that’s how it reads to me.

i really love dess ( she’s my 4th favorite ), and i am very intrigued with her relationship with kris and how that might have affected the promise kris made.

does anyone else ever wonder why elias hired martin as an archival assistant?

jon didn’t hire him. he chose tim and sasha to be his assistants. jon says in the first episode that he didn’t want martin as an assistant.

also martin worked library beforehand, not research like the other three on the archive team. and elias knew martin had no formal qualifications. so he hired martin because of something to do with his evil plans right?

so i’ve been thinking more about all of kris’s pranks on noelle because of that “gosh kris, remember when you used to dip me in tar?” post. that post, and its additions, are comedy gold to me.

most of kris’s pranks are directed at noelle. this is all from the top of my head, so i might be missing some, but if i remember correctly all of their pranks are as follows: putting ketchup on their arms and pretending it was blood to scare noelle, telling noelle i-cee is real and eats kids, putting a burnt i-cee’s pizza box over their face to scare noelle, hiding under noelle’s bed to scare her, pretending to rip out their heart using one of carol’s pillows, then chasing noelle around with it, and shaking the ferris wheel cart at the top of the ride.

none of kris’s pranks pose any physical harm to noelle. kris’s only goal seems to be scaring her. this is why i think pranking noelle is their way of showing her affection. kris isn’t particularly physically affectionate, nor are they expressive with their emotions, so i think scaring noelle is their way of being affectionate. noelle does like being scared, after all.

i want to take this interpretation and use it to evaluate two scenes. the first one is in ch 2, and it happens if you step off the switch in the city and almost electrocute noelle with the lightning. she does the same to kris, but they look hurt by noelle doing this. i think this is because kris would not put noelle in danger if they wanted to prank her. the player made the choice to do that, and noelle doing the same thing hurt kris because it isn’t something they would willingly do to her, even as a joke.

the second scene is in ch 4, when susie and noelle come back from the basement. susie jokingly says that the severed hand followed them up from the basement and puts her hand on noelle’s shoulder to scare her. noelle’s reaction is what matters to me. she screams, but then laughs it off and calls susie a big meanie. noelle’s fondness for susie in this moment shows me how she feels about kris’s pranks. maybe she didn’t think of the pranks as fondly when she was a kid, but she definitely thinks about them fondly now.

am i the only one who kinda hates the papyrus egg man theory?

maybe before ch 3 and 4 i could understand it, but i’m honestly surprised it hasn’t died since. the only evidence for it is that art (is it merch?) of papyrus peeking out behind a tree holding an egg and the egg that is just there during his date.

i also personally feel that papyrus will be one of the least relevant undertale characters in deltarune. he has no connection to the main characters and no major role in hometown.

i also just kind of hate the theories trying to give the egg man an identity. it’s not like the knight, who is much easier to place as a specific person and not an idea. also, quick aside, i do 100% believe that the knight is dess, or at least her body.

in game, speech patterns are all we have to go off of if we want to determine the egg mans identity. they don’t match papyrus’s speech or gasters (more important for him, cause we basically can only identify him from his speech patterns).

so who do i think the egg man is? well, i don’t really think he’s an actual person exactly. the egg rooms are heavily tied to kris’s past trauma; the tree acts as a way to repress what happened. this is the main reason why i think papyrus egg man is a bad theory. papyrus is new in town and would have no involvement with kris’s past trauma, so why would he be the egg man? continuing with why i think the egg man is more likely an idea or a representation of a real person. for me, omori comes into mind as a comparison for this aspect of deltarune; i mean, there is a high chance that there could be similarities here, going off of that one, admittedly vague, toby fox tweet. in omori, “something” follows sunny around, acting as a visual representation of his trauma as well as a distorted version of mari. i think the egg man could be more similar to something. the egg man isn’t something kris wants to remember, but he’s not someone they can get rid of. there’s even bits where he appears in the light world, which nobody talks about when discussing his identity.

i’m sorry if this post is kinda incoherent. i just have a lot of thoughts.

it’s honestly so interesting to relisten to the magnus archives for the first time.

i just finished season three, and there’s so much shit i didn’t catch the first listen. in ep 160, i was honestly a little confused for most of elias narrating jon’s dream. on my second listen, i was able to recognize everyone in jon’s dream.

AND there’s also that one statement about the house on hilltop road where the woman goes into the basement, falls into the crack there, and ends up in a different reality. everything clicked hearing that for a second time.

it’s just really cool having all those pieces fall into place.

one of the more minor changes in the weird route is the gerson dialogue when you say you’re going nowhere.

he somehow clocks that kris is having “relationship troubles” and he says that he’s seen it all at his age.

i understand her intentions in that scene ( i think…), and it’s not like she knew kris was listening, but it makes me sad to see her say that.

anyways, tma x deltarune has lived in my head ever since. i’ve been thinking about who would be and avatar of what. i can’t get the idea of weird route noelle as an avatar of the hunt.

noelle and kris’s feelings for susie are very similar.

both of them are in situations where they lack freedom. noelle is restricted by her controlling mother, unable to fully explore her interests in scary movies/games or her interests in different fashion (possibly alternative fashion from what little hints we get). she’s been pushed into the role of a straight a student and the nice girl next door, even though her actual interests don’t align with those stereotypes.

kris, on the other hand, lacks freedom in a more literal sense. even when they are “free” from the control of the player, they still have their deal with the knight, and the restrictions of the prophecy. hell, the prophecy even calls them a cage, they are the least free a person can get.

neither of them feel free, but susie could change that. with noelle, it comes when susie stands up to carol, supports her interests, and just from susie’s generally rebellious attitude. noelle says in ch 2 that that is why she likes susie so much, because she isn’t afraid to break the rules. noelle wants to be bolder and braver but feels like she can’t. but, by getting closer to susie, she starts to gain that confidence.

when it comes to kris, i interpret how they view susie through her disruption of our choices. she chooses on multiple occasions to go against what we (through kris) say. sometimes, this is even necessary for story progression (ex: the sweet cap’n cakes fight). susie is also the most aggressive towards the knight and has stated her intent to prevent the end of the prophecy. susie can defy us; she isn’t bound by our choices like kris is, like ralsei and noelle are (to and extent), and she is determined to face against the knight and face against fate as well. i think kris may believe that susie could help them regain their freedom (if they could actually find a way to approach susie about the whole “possession” thing). regardless, susie is a force against the things keeping kris locked up.

i think the idea of susie representing freedom to kris and noelle acts as the base for why both of them like her so much so quickly. obviously, both of them like her as a person, i just think it’s interesting to think about the similarities between kris and noelle’s feeling for susie.

something i forgot to mention in my krusie post:

one of my favorite krusie scenes is the ch 4 fountain sealing scene where we see kris’s thoughts about susie’s smile.

kris thinks that susie’s smile shines so bright that the light of the soul, which literally just killed a world destroying monster, can only imitate it.

my thoughts on krusie:

a lot of things i think make them a good pair romantically can also be said about them platonically. same thing for why i find their relationship pretty devastating.

they are pretty similar people which is why they get along. all of the moments of them being weird are a highlight of ch 4. kris struggles with self hatred, more so in the weird route, but i think those feelings still exist in the normal route. susie makes them feel ok being who they are. susie is also the only one who we know has made kris smile or laugh, which i also think is very special.

of course, susie is going to find out about us at some point, which of course will be devastating. she already has all of these insecurities about friendship and about her friends being “real” or if they just see that friendship as a joke, so that’ll definitely be crushing. i don’t think she’ll be able to process that kris does genuinely care for her. then kris is also working with the knight. those two realizations combined will destroy their relationship. i hope it can recover, but i’m not sure. i do think kris wants to chose their friends over the knight, but they are shackled by this promise they made.

then, additionally devastating when looking at their relationship as non-platonic, is susie’s relationship with noelle. i’m like, 90% sure kris has a crush on susie. it is still up in the air, but i’m pretty confident. most players want to see noelle and susie get together. the concept of kris trying to set their crush up with someone else by the will of the being controlling them is kinda horrifying. but i think kris will go along with this because of their self hatred and because of the soul and their deal with the knight. also i think they want noelle to be happy. to kris, noelle is deserving of susie while they are not.

part of me is hoping that the whole “garden scorched by jealousy” thing isn’t just referring to asgore being jealous of sans, but kris being jealous of noelle. obviously, it’d be a more complicated jealousy because kris cares for noelle. that’s honestly why i kinda hope it’s a double meaning. but, i also think kris won’t want to get in the way of what noelle and susie have.

basically, if kris has feelings for susie, they will keep those feelings to themself. they might be unrequited, but they might not, and kris is just shooting themself in the foot by not asking susie out. but, noelle’s feelings are also part of this equation, which makes everything messier. this is a bit of a side note, but i could see her asking kris in ch 5 not to third wheel at the festival, but i also don’t know how we the player would see the suselle festival date if they aren’t there??? ofc, i love krusielle, but idk if these three are gonna be able to figure out their feelings for each other like that at age 15-16.

this was a really long post and i may have repeated myself a bit in different places, but i just really love krusie. i still have more thoughts about the similarities between kris and noelle’s feelings for susie, so that’ll be another post sometime soon. i’ll also probably make some kriselle posts because they are actually my favorite deltarune ship.

ok so i need to rant about the new deltarune fans

admittedly, i only first played undertale and deltarune in 2023, so i haven’t been around that long, but i know the fandom wasn’t always this weird. yes the 2016 undertale fandom was probably worse than this, i’m sure people who were there back then can attest to that.

first is the erasure of queer rep. people love to ignore kris’s gender and pronouns. they say they can “project onto kris” even though kris being their own person completely separate from us is a major part of the story ( it’s also one of my favorite things about deltarune ). THEN ( and this ties into my next point relating to the new fandom ) is the cuckelle shit. 0/10, worst joke this fandom has ever come up with. it’s weird to make sexual jokes about minors, and it also acts as a way to erase the lesbian rep we get in the game. i LOVE krusie, like i love it so much, even more than suselle, but the people making these jokes ship krusie because they see it as a straight ship, which it is not. also, by ignoring suselle and the chemistry those two have, you miss a vital part of what makes krusie so heartbreaking and interesting ( to me, at least ), but i could make a whole other post about why i find krusie interesting, and why i think suselle and krusie are complementary ships.

THEN there’s the sexualization of minors. if i see another person say they want to crack ralsei istg… it’s just so weird. like, guys, tenna and queen are right there, along with many other adult characters.

tumblr doesn’t really have these issues, i see most of this shit on tik tok. i kinda want the popularity of deltarune to die down a bit so the seasonal fans will leave and we can get back to some normalcy.
