on that note do i ever think about doomed yaoi where huck and tom (mostly tom) are telling themselves they’re only best friends while acting like more than that? and huck finally caves and asks tom to be with him, seriously, or he’ll leave??? but tom says no because he wants to stay in his comfort zone and never rock the boat? and maybe tom becomes the perfect, successful man that everyone hoped he’d be and he has a wife and children and he’s beloved by the whole town, but he privately hates himself because he knows the coward he truly is, despite all of his ego??? and huck is not living up to society’s standards in the slightest but he’s genuinely happy unlike a certain someone he knows? yes.
