mhm, annabeth straight up kept everybody alive, even people who she didn’t interact with in the og pjo books. like she helped train Magnus and Alex, went on numerous quests with Sadie and Carter (i’ve yet to read those i just know they exist and that’s enough for me)

even in the show, my point still stands, ANNABETH CARRIES WHATEVER SHES IN AND THE WEIGHT MUST BE CRUSHING

something is so very wrong with Langdon’s marriage and it’s been gnawing at the edges of my brain since i finished the Pitt. because what does he have to beg to talk to his kid?? who the hell gets a family dog when you know you’re leaving everything about the damn animal to an already overworked, overtired, unpaid SAHM and not shouldering any of that responsibility??

THEORY TIME: Langdon’s marriage is already falling apart and the drugs just rotted an already weak relationship. behavior like that does not come from nowhere, it was either present the whole time at full capacity and ignored by both parties OR happened so slowly that neither of them really cared up until this sort of tipping point - perhaps the wife finding the Librium or his bipolar ass moods OR (the theory that seems super probable) the wife already left, it’s an ongoing divorce, Langdon is in denial - hence the still, ever present wedding ring - and using the pills as an escape

i’ve just seen a post about DDBA episode 5 and a lot of people (at least the ones that i’ve seen) don’t enjoy filler episodes but here’s where i think they’re messing up:

- filler eps literally build up the foundations of every single relationship with in a show/series/books/piece of continuing media. simple interactions and small acts can speak VOLUMES about a character and how they interact within the world. a couple minutes of a character blundering through something or finally gaining progress on something can lead to stronger connections to us as viewers

- why are y’all (filler haters) so against seeing characters in day to day situations?? talking with coworkers, regular people, doing things like GO TO THE BANK?? just because is doesn’t move the plot in a forward motion doesn’t mean you should immediately disregard it. these characters are supposed to be somewhat realistic in how they show basic pieces of they personality. it’s hard to should such small things like this when everything is “GO GO GO” or “PLOT PLOT PLOT”, right? and life is not all “MUST HAVE SOMETHING HAPPENING!!” is it? it’s little things that can make or break your day, simple interactions to put a smile on your face

- part of the reason i learn to love characters is because of the small things that show how human/human adjacent (like aliens trying to be human) and it can show so many character flaws that can further be explored or even exploited later in the show. we all love foggy because of who he is and how important his relationship with matt is. but what happens when you take all of the filler eps away?? the relationship between matt and foggy gets sort of thrown at you. how are we supposed to believe that they ARE actually good friends when we have no context

- which leads me into my next point: FILLER BRINGS CONTEXT!!!! i will scream this shit from the roof tops. in the original daredevil show, we saw so many turning points of matt’s life (meeting Stick, explaining how matt knew electra, meeting foggy in college, MATTS CONNECTION TO RELIGION) that we can confidently point out how those situations made him into the character we know today

side note: not that i’m calling those examples the most important parts of the show, but that they gave us a glimpse of how many different things lead matt to where he was/is rn

- AND ANOTHER THING ☝️filler episodes can allow you to actually see the mental state of characters, ya know? (not the bring in another fandom, it’s just an example) but in how many episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine did we see that someone was either unwell, in a particular mood (whether it be happiness or sadness or rage) ?? A LOT MY DUDES, A LOT
