Well, I thought, and hoped, to the very end, that Eugene would play a role in Varians redemption. I mean, it made so much sense to me, it would have been a cool Team Awesome moment, and it would have been great for showing Eugenes Character development.

In the end he didnt and I was honestly a bit disappointed for wasting that potential.

I really hope Varian has a role in Cass’s redemption. It’s the only thing that seems fitting to me; Varian, who betrayed Rapunzel and Corona, who was brought back to the good side with help from Rapunzel, helping Cass to make up for what she did to Rapunzel and everyone else. Obviously he won’t be the only character doing so, but I just want him to be involved a lot because their arcs are so similar and it just makes sense. (This is in the case that she gets redeemed and doesn’t die immediately)

I am, admittedly, indifferent to Varian’s role in Cassandra’s redemption. I’m not particularly invested in their relationship (platonic or otherwise) as a whole.

In Tangled EA, Arianna says "those were my grandmother's wedding rings!" and upon closer inspection, the rings are Corona/Sun themed. But we now know Arianna is not from Corona thanks to the series. Are we chalking this up to a continuity error? I guess a cute headcanon that I can think of would be the rings being repurposed to fit Rapunzel and Eugene/their future in the Kingdom... it'd make for a cute mother/daughter scene

That is a very interesting observation, and one I had not considered!

I would personally chalk it up to a continuity error, because there had been so little known about Arianna and Frederic (and heck, all things considered, there’s still very little known about them), that for all we know they originally intended her to have Corona ties. Like maybe she wasn’t supposed to be a princess when they got married, but a duchess or countess. Some lower level of nobility who was still Coronian?

Another headcanon we can consider is that Arianna’s grandmother married a noble (not necessarily directly a prince) of Corona, who came to Arianna’s country (rather than her moving to Corona) and brought the rings with him. Yes, I am implying that there could be some royal inbreeding going on here, as such a thing is very much not unheard of, but I’m not attempting to imply that it was, like, close family. Like, the nephew of the present king or something like that. Or even farther back, because they were her grandmother’s, but what if her grandmother wasn’t the first owner of them and got them, herself, from someone in her ancestry who had links to Corona?

Or, failing that, what if Arianna never really knew either of her biological grandmothers, but got attached to Frederic’s when she and Frederic got engaged and got the rings directly from her?

But since Eugene is an actual Prince. Seriously, A Real Honest To Goodness Long-Lost Royal like Rapunzel wouldn’t he still be considered a king of some sort when Rapunzel does take the throne. Not to mention if the situation was the same for Arianna than wouldn’t she be addressed as Princess and not as Queen like you just said?

No. Again, look at England as an example of how this works. Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, was born Prince of Denmark and Greece. He has never been a king. Arianna is technically Queen Consort (that’s the title of the wife of a king), but the husband of a queen is a Prince Consort.

This has to do with sexism.

See, according to European royal ranking, King outranks Queen, but Queen outranks Prince. You can’t give the non-ruling husband of the ruling queen a title that outranks her, so he is Prince Consort (”consort” means “spouse”). But since kings outrank queens, the non-ruling wife of a ruling king would be Queen Consort, and she would still not outrank - or even equate - his position with that title.

I know this is kinda old, and I made an entire video on youtube about it, but lets focus on stuff that I dont like about the show, and that could be a reason why some people also dont:

First of all, and the most important thing: Eugene.

Eugene is a great character, but he and his relationship with Rapunzel has been cast aside by the show for two characters that movie watchers are just not interested in: Varian and Cass. WAIT. I LOVE VARIAN AND CASS, and I know that many people watch the show only for Varian, so it is actually good that he is in there, but as a movie person you dont care.

As a person coming from the movie, you want to see Raps and Eugene content, not two new characters. And please. No one in his right mind can deny that Eugene has been complete ignored by the writers. He got DPE. Thats awesome. But it has been totally overshadowed by Cassandras betrayal, and after Destinies Collide is has almost been never brought up again. I am not gonna lie, but at least 1/4th of the entire movie fanbase was in the fanbase because they had a crush on Eugene. Me kinda included.

Another thing that bothers me with the show is this weird addition of random magic. The only magic in the movie was the hair, and now we have time travel, amnesia wands, robots, ghosts, demons and so much more, mostly for the sake of Filler episodes. Let that sink in: The added TIME TRAVEL, for a filler episode. (I love the episode but couldnt it have been something else? Time travel doesnt make any sense xd)

And one thing that can be annoying for movie watchers is this gigantic Varian fanbase. I have nothing against Varian fans, but I get it when a movie watcher loses their mind when there are actually people complaining that Varian is not in the movie.

I love the show for many other things but these are some things that many people coming from the movie dont like.

I genuinely wish I could understand why Tangled doesn't have the popularity it deserves.

Fan of the movie? Guess what, same cast! Same songwriters, too! As well as an intense story that extends the lore of the movie! Ever wonder why the flower responded to a song? Show expands on it. How did Gothel know about it? Show expands on it. And the question of their life between the movie and marriage? Guess when the show takes place!

Fan of modern animation? Fantastic animation with an adorable style. Every episode has fantastic scenery, gut-wrenching expressions and just an overall fun style!

Fan of musicals? James Monroe Inglehart, Eden Espinosa and Jeremy Jordan. And if you aren't familiar with musical actors but still want some fun new songs, this show has them for everything. Fun and exciting songs? Wind in My Hair, Next Stop Anywhere, Stronger than Ever Before, Buddy Song. Emotional solos? Make You Proud, Waiting in the Wings, Everything I Ever Thought I Knew. Triumphant songs that make you wonder if the "villain" is really even a villain? Ready as I'll Ever Be, Crossing the Line.

Look, it just annoys me that there's such a huge fandom for Tangled, but the vast majority of them cast the show aside. You ask for a Tangled 2, and here it is, right in front of you. If you're on the fence, considering watching it but not sure? Let this be your deciding factor. The team works so hard on the show only for Disney to repeatedly fuck it over, and they deserve better than this.

I’m looking forward to the New Dream engagement most of all, but we know for sure that it’s going to happen. I don’t even know if “Prison Breakout II” is going to happen or not, and I’m even more anxious because the future episodes seem to be pretty Cassandra-heavy. Focusing on Cassandra is one of the series’ main reasons for pushing Eugene aside, which has always bothered me.

But please, please just give Eugene the spotlight for once. He is Rapunzel’s foundation, her closest support, her future husband, and according to Demanitus, his faith is what keeps her powers awake.

Hiccup, Adrien and Varian are pretty much alike

I really couldn‘t come up with a good title, but I realized someting.

Varian From Tangled, Adrien Agreste from Miraculous and Hiccup from How to Train your Dragon have A LOT in common.

First of all: They all have a gigantic fanbase! (Compared to the fandom) For Hiccup and Adrian this is kinda clear, because they are the main characters, but Varian isn‘t even the main character, and he still has a fanbase that is probably bigger than the rest of the fandom.

And I know that especially Hiccup and Adrien are probably designed for being a cartoon chrush (i think Varian wasn‘t, but if a crew member sees this, please tell me if you thought Varian would become THAT popular xD)

Lets start with listing things they have in common:

1. They all have no mom. This is actually a major thing that bothers me a lot. Why always the mom? Lel. Also: There is more about their moms than that theyre just dead. Adriens Mom is kinda in a coma or something, Hiccups mom ran away to the dragons and we dont know about Varians mom so far, but I really think something important happened to her.

2. They have daddy issues. All their dads are disappointed in them or just dont care about them or are just dicks. And they desperatly try to get their attention or make them proud and show them that there is more to them. Hiccups dad is just generally disappointed in him and doesn‘t think he can become a good viking, Adriens dad is just never there for him and pretty much ignores him and Varians dad is also just disappointed and thinks Varian can’t do anying. And getting the attention of their dads in one of their major character traits.

3. Their chrush is a super strong female character that is just in every way better than them. I know it sounds kida harsh but it’s the truth. We have Astrid, an incredibly talented warrior, Ladybug (And I talk about Ladybug, not Marrinette), who is a talented superhero and Cassandra, who is also a super good warrior.

4. Something happenes in their lives, that makes them less dorky and they have a purpose and makes them hot (or something) Hiccup finds his dragon (and has kinda uhm a change in his looks and appearance in httyd 2) , Adrien becomes Chat Noir and Varian turns evil.

5. They are so diffent actually. Though they are all around the same age, they dont look nearly alike. Brown hair, Blond hair, black hair. Dark green eyes, Light green eyes, blue eyes. But: They are all CUTE! And that is what is important. Another thing: They all arent from the same studio: Hiccup is from Dreamworks, Adrien from ZAG and Varian is a Disney character.

I dont know why they have so similar character arcs, maybe its a huge coincidence or lazy character writing, and I bet there will be fangirls spaming the comments why their crush is totally not like the others and is super special, but I don‘t really care.

They ARE NOT the same, just kinda very similar and they are all great characters.

I hope I dont get a shitstorm for that.
