An apology

I’m little late to this since I quit tumblr not so long ago, but the situation revolving around my reblog of a fic which centers around pedophilia has been brought to my attention. To be honest, I was tempted not to say anything because it would have been easier to just let this die down than to wade back into tumblr, but that would make what I’ve done worse, and I owe it to you all to say a few things. 

1) I would like to publicly apologize to any csa survivors in this fandom for promoting something with a pedophilic message and appearing to support pedophilia. I am incredibly sorry. I know that doesn’t fix anything, but I need you to know that. 

2) My reasons for reblogging aren’t the point and I won’t get into that because I don’t want to detract from the real issue, but I did not reblog that post because I enjoy or support pedophilia. In fact, I want to be painfully clear that I am anti-pedophilia and I stand by csa survivors, always. 

3) I would also like to apologize to those in the fandom who have brought this to my and others’ attention. It shouldn’t be your job to keep me accountable. I am trying to do a better job of policing and educating myself, but sometimes I fail. I take full responsibility for the mistakes I’ve made.

4) Please, if I ever do anything that offends or harms yourself or others, let me know. One of the reasons I am so late to address/rectify this is that I was unaware. I check tumblr only for messages, and that is rare. If I had known about this situation earlier, I would have addressed it earlier. My silence on the subject has not been an attempt to ignore it or to slide by without taking responsibility.  

At the end of the day, all I can say is that I am so incredibly sorry. I hope you can forgive me, and if there’s anything I can do to help rectify my actions, please let me know.

Like I’ve said in my previous post, I’m leaving tumblr, but I check it every once in a while for messages, so if you need to say anything to me, feel free. Thank you for understanding.

I’m taking a break

hey fam! I’m sure you’re surprised to see me on your dash. I know I’ve been MIA for awhile now, but I wanted to take a moment to talk to you guys about something. 

as most of you will know, I have started my first year of university and am currently living abroad in Belfast. new country, new friends, new everything. I’ve been incredibly overwhelmed with my new life here, and that has significantly taken away from my time on tumblr. but that's to be expected right?? well, maybe. but something I’ve recently realized is that if I wanted to be on tumblr, I would find the time, because we make time for things that are important to us. that’s when I realized tumblr isn’t important anymore. mostly because it causes me a lot of stress - stress that I had been feeling long before I moved across the ocean. it just took such an immense move in my life to cause me to step back and evaluate.

don’t get me wrong. I love you all dearly. but I find tumblr culture plays havoc with my anxiety, and to put it bluntly, being in this fandom has nearly ruined my love for band of brothers. I see far too much spite in what should be kind interactions, and I see people withering under the harsh education they are receiving. I also see ignorance that makes no effort to correct itself, and I see these things colliding into what has become a toxic fandom, at least for myself. 

while I’ve been away I have experienced a community where my happiness doesn’t hinge on whether or not people will enjoy something I’ve put effort into, and where I don’t have to worry if they will treat each other civilly that day. 

I know there is still kindness here. there is still joy in a shared love of something meaningful. there are still wonderful people who I adore and would do anything to meet and hug in person. I just can’t continue to wade through everything else in this fandom to find them. 

so what does this mean? well basically, it means I will be taking an extended break from tumblr, and ao3. I’m not deleting because hey, what if I change my mind? my blog is, after all, for me. I have continued to work on Gene’s war because it makes me happy, so you may well see an update for that. but you won’t find me on tumblr, at least not for now.

I want to stress to you all that none of this is directed at any particular individual. no one person is responsible. it is what it is. and, despite all that’s happened, I still love hbo war, and you guys, with all my heart. 

it’s been a wild year since I joined the fandom via tumblr. I’ve learned a lot from you all, and I cherish the friendships I’ve made. I wish you all the best.

Slytherpuff

Slytherin: *organizing Professor Snape’s potions while standing on a ladder to reach the highest cabinets and shelves*

Hufflepuff: *suddenly appears from below him* Hello!

Slytherin: *jolts in fear and tightly grips the ladder as it shakes*

Hufflepuff: Oh Merlin! I’m so sorry. *climbs onto ladder to reach him* There, there *pats his fluffy head of hair softly and climbs back down*

Slytherin: There’s no need for that..I wasn’t even that frightened. *slowly descends from the ladder too*

Hufflepuff: No, I’ll take credit, it was my fault.

Slytherin: *still significantly taller as he reaches the ground* Well.. *bends down and boops her nose with his finger* You’re still apologizing for nothing. I just didn’t expect you to be there. *walks away and out the door*

I don't know if this has been done before, but what would a Slytherin/Hufflepuff relationship be like?

Both houses are incredibly loyal to their own, so their relationship is one of fierce devotion to each other. There’s nothing the Slytherin wouldn’t do for their Hufflepuff and vice versa

It’s just a really sweet relationship, very tender and passionate

The Slytherin pretends to be a grump, but it’s obvious they adore the Hufflepuff and can never resist smiling at them

Together they can find a good balance between altruistic and self-interested behaviour 

The hard-working nature of the Hufflepuff would inspire the Slytherin to work harder to fulfil their ambitions and be an excellent motivator if the Slytherin is ever struggling

In turn, the Slytherin can help focus the Hufflepuff and give them an end goal for all their effort and work

Snuggling under blankets to stay warm

The Hufflepuff has never judged the Slytherin for their house, even before they knew each other, which means more to the Slytherin than they can say

Both the Slytherin and the Hufflepuff give such well thought out and sincere gifts

A Slytherin/Hufflepuff friendship would include...
