Rune Reading for the Week of 5/1-5/7 runeworksbyamanda.wordpress.com The heart of the matter is Mannaz Reversed which stands for separation and isolation, a time for figuring things out on your own and not turning to others for help. However, it also carries the danger of ego and being self-centered. What to Do Othala is a rune of prosperity, generosity, and receiving advice and ideas from one’s elders or kin. This is a reminder that isolation represented by Mannaz Reversed is not meant to be absolute. This is echoed in Gifu, the rune of exchange, sharing, favors, gratitude, and of honoring one’s debts and obligations. Taken together, this means that, while you should, or may have to, go it alone in many ways for the time being, this is not an excuse to not be kind to others, not keep your word, or otherwise treat people in a decent way. The separation of Mannaz is temporary and you still need to remain on good terms with others. What not to Do Lagaz in the rune of intuition, imagination, and occult abilities. The isolation of Mannaz and it’s attendant risk of selfishness means there is a risk of loss of perspective and attempts to use divination or magic in the current situation is likely to only return the results we want to see, not what is real and sustainable. Sigel also warns against egotism and being self-centered as well a need to be in charge. Sigel is a rune of success but here it warns that, left to your own devices, that success may appear greater than it is and one should be cautious of viewing themselves as a big-shot who should be running things, focusing instead on the mutual, sharing, types of interactions represented by othala and gifu. #runes #runereading #may #runeworksbyamanda #divination #oracles #mannaz #gifu #othala #lagaz #sigel #isolation #ego #selfcentered #sharing #delusionsofgrandure #giveandtake

Rune Reading for the Week of 4/17-4/23 runeworksbyamanda.wordpress.com The primary energy for this week is represented by Daeg, the rune of sunrise, new beginnings, and the gradual increase of good things. This reflects the start of spring with more warmth and longer days as well as the spring energy inside us, where we feel the urge to get outside, be active, and start new ventures. What to do: Othal stands for material prosperity, looking to the past, continuance, freedom, and self determination. This represents the newness and abundance of spring but with the idea that our new actions shouldn’t always be new ideas as well. If there were any plans or desires that you were sitting on during the period of winter stillness, now is the time to bring them into play. Thuriaz represents awakening, good fortune, aggression, force, storms and chaos, and the use of tools to break the earth for planting. This again underscores the idea that this is a time for fortunate new beginnings. However, it also carries a warning that spring is a time for some nasty weather as well as the grueling work of sewing your seeds. Thus, while your new ventures can still go well, there will be opposition and you should be prepared for a of hard work to see results. What not to do: Berca also represents fertility and new beginnings but does so in a decidedly domestic context and here is a warning not to be homebody. While introducing small innovations at home is fine, this is a time for thinking bigger and step outside your comfort zone a bit. Sigel is the rune of success and victory, which normally seems like a good thing but it can also represent a tendency to worry and to overwork yourself. Appearing in the same spread as thuriaz this is a reminder to not try to do too much too fast. There’s a long hard road ahead and you need to be careful not to become exhausted, burnt out, or de-motivated. Also, remember that the pervasive energy of daeg stands for slow gradual change. You need to be able to sustain your new projects over the long term, not try to get results quickly. #runes #runereading #april #runeworksbyamanda #divination #oracles #spring #newbeginning #hardwo

Rune Reading for the Week of 4/3-4/9 runeworksbyamanda.wordpress.com The central force at work this week is Berca the rune of motherhood and, as such, it represents two seemingly contradictory energies of a place of safety and nurturing and creativity and new beginnings so this week is all about the challenge of holding onto what we have without stagnating, of growing without taking unnecessary risks. What to do: Hagall is the rune of bad weather and the obstacles and chaos it represents, but it can also represent controlling that chaos, seeking shelter, and being prepared. Change can be difficult and, while Hagall warns against bringing too much change too fast, the presence of Berca shows that change is unavoidable so Hagall tells us to take care and be ready to seize the opportunity. Ehwaz is the rune of initiation, of climbing the World Tree and, as such, it also stands for steady, gradual, change and growth. It can also stand for endurance and protection, another reminder to cultivate your “safe place” represented by Berca. It is worth noting that Hagall can represent nine months in the womb and Ehwaz can stand for death and rebirth. Due to the central role of Berca in this reading these energies are likely to be at the forefront this week. What not to do: Mannaz of interdependence, groups and social order, so here it is a warning not to rely on these things during the coming period of change. However, this time, this does not mean you have to go it alone. Berca being a rune of family, now you should be relying on your physical or spiritual family, rather than larger communities or social groups. Mannaz is also the rune of mental ability, thinking, and analysis and here is a warning about over thinking things and focusing too much on the problem. Thuriaz stands for much of same sort of chaos and conflict as hagall and, when the two appear together, especially when Mannaz is also present, it is a warning not to rush into new ventures, especially without advice and it also serves as a reminder not to be overly agressive or start unneeded conflicts. #runes #runereading #april #runeworksbyamanda #berca #hagall #eihwaz #manaz #thuriaz #chang

Rune Reading for the Week of 3/20-3/26 The heart of the matter is represented by Fehu reversed which is definitely not a good sign, representing disappointment, obstacles, failure, poverty, conflict, and cowardice. This means that there is a bit of a rough time ahead. But it also serves as a warning against greed and can stand for conservation and temporary retreat. So, this means this is the time to focus on what you have and what you are doing now, not on trying to get or do more. What to do: Uruz represents strength, resilience, survival and endurance reminding us to hold fast through whatever crap Fehu reversed throws at us. With time and hard work, things can get better and Uruz provides that inner toughness. Jera stands for both both cycles and hard work as represented by the harvest and advocates taking the long view in this situation. With the strength Uruz promises, you can not only survive but by putting in the hard work, turn the situation to one that will prosper. What not to Do: Eloh reversed is a signal of deception. It is likely that either, someone you are dealing with has suspect motives or that you are deceiving yourself so it’s appearance is a warning not to be taken in by these deceptions. It can also represent feelings of fear or being overwhelmed and so reminds you not to give in to these emotions but to channel the endurance of Uruz instead. Ehwaz is the rune of teamwork, loyalty and partnership but, given the presence of Eloh reversed, this is not the the time to leave your fate in the hands of another. Being loyal to someone who is not loyal in return or putting more into a group effort than others brings no benefit. Now is a time when it’s better to be safe than sorry and look after your own interests first. #runes #runereading #march #runeworksbyamanda #fehu #uruz #jera #eloh #ehwaz #roughseasahed #holdfast #survival #endurance #deception #lookoutfornumberone #dontbegreedy

Rune Reading for the Week of 3/6-3/12 runeworksbyamanda.wordpress.com March comes in like a lion with Thuriaz, a rune of great power, of breaking through barriers and the uncontrolled forces of chaos. But there is also a negative side to this as these forces can also trigger strong energies of aggression and conflict so the focus of this week is on avoiding unnecessary conflict while ridding out the positive chaos energies and making room for the changes they bring. What to do Ehwaz is a rune of journeys and messages. Reversed it can represent a far journey or a sudden unpredictable change, especially with Uruz. This is a reminder to embrace the breakthroughs brought by Thuriaz and step outside your comfort zone. But Ehwaz reversed can also represent betrayal and enemies so it reminds us to guard against these things, especially in the current hair-trigger environment Thuriaz is creating. Berca is another rune of change though of a more gentle nature, usually referring to new beginnings and life cycle events, especially relating to home and family. It also represents patience nurturing, trust, and love so, even as it brings changes, it reminds us to embrace our more gentle, caring side, as a counter to Thuriaz. What not to Do Uruz represents many strong and forceful qualities such as resilience, endurance, courage, and persistence. While most of these sound like positive qualities, they also sound a lot like what Thuriaz represents so here Uruz is a reminder that too much of a good thing makes it bad and trying to be persistent and forceful in the current environment is likely to go out of control and possibly blow up in your face. Sigel is yet another strong and active rune representing victory, great power, will, and persistence, energies which are, again, are too explosive combined with Thuriaz. Sigel represents active energy as opposed to Berca’s more passive energy and it’s appearance here clearly states that now is the time to receive, not to do. #runes #runereading #march #inlikealion #chaos #change #ridethestorm #thuriaz #sigel #berca #uruz #ehwaz #aggression #toomuchofagoodthing
