Good Health and Nursing as a Profession
People commonly say: "Live life to the fullest!"
However, behind those same words, you'd find someone who doesn't care about their physical or mental wellbeing. They also say, "Have fun since life is short," yet they spend their days indoors doing nothing as enjoyable or useful as the activities done outside, resulting in a lifestyle that is causing people to live shorter lives. Ironic isn't it?
So, let me remind stop hiding from behind those statements and put them into action! Say you're enjoying life to the fullest when you actually aren't, since it's clear that sitting on your sofa isn't experiencing life to its greatest extent. Yes, I understand that technology is progressing and that television is just as exciting as anything else, but what else are you getting out of this but entertainment?
Maintaining good health is essential, that's all I'm trying to say. It's the key to a much longer and fulfilling life, since that's what we all want don't we?

PHYSICAL HEALTH
We've all accumulated some sort of disease in our lives. It could have simply been the flu or unfortunately something greater than that, but the point here is that your body's physical status is a reflection of how you're taking care of it!
Gentle Reminder: I'm simply promoting good physical (and mental) health! Encountering someone who does not appear to be physically or psychologically healthy, gives you no right to humiliate them. Please show some compassion and respect, thank you!
Physical health refers to the state of being healthy, free of sickness or abnormalities, and in a state of optimum well-being. It occurs when the body is doing as it was supposed! Good physical health comes with a list of important upkeep activities: Regular exercise, a well-balanced diet, enough sleep, and a reduction in smoking, drinking, and drug usage are all recommended.
I know. I know. But as exhausting as it sounds, you'll see that it's all worth the sweat and effort once you'll realize how fortunate you are to be healthy and fit as not many can be.
Here's my personal exercise plan! I made sure it was as practical and as realistic, which meant that the duration, intensity, and frequency of the stated exercises we're according to my ability to perform them. I suggest you make your very own exercise plan that'll suit you and your body or you can follow mine of course. Along side this, you can always include a proper and balanced diet and you'll see results in no time!

MENTAL HEALTH
Life is a roller coaster of emotions. You are occasionally confronted with events that have a significant impact on your thinking as an emotional and intellectual being. Some people may not realize how essential mental health is, and as a result, they disregard this aspect of their lives. I've heard MANY opinionated individuals voice things along the lines of, "Depression isn't a real thing, it's just all in your head" or say "Come on, things could be worse". I don't know about you, but I think this is really insensitive of someone to say, and I encourage you to never say anything like this to people dealing with mental illness!
If you're someone going through mental issues and you're reading this right now, I want you to know that YOU'RE HEARD. I hear your cry for suffering and I'm proud that you're here! I really am!
For the people at the back who want to know how to help out, the only way to do so is to be there for them, show them that you care by listening, and be sensitive with your words! You don't know what they're going through which is enough reason for you not to judge and think so lowly of them.
Tumblr media
Both mental and physical aspects of ourselves are significant. None of the two stand greater than the other so let's all try to value our lives by taking care of our well-being. As a soon-to-be registered nurse, I'll take up the obligation of nurturing for you someday just in case you can't do it for yourself :) Kudos to all the nurses and doctors (all medical professionals in general) out there who are striving to serve you all for the healing and development of our bodies and minds despite this pandemic.
Let's stay healthy people! You'll thank me for reminding you this someday.

My Personal Nursing Philosophy
Taking up the nursing course has been quite the ride for me. Being half-way through the school year, there were definitely points of realization and valuable lessons jumping out the bushes every now and then. Surely enough, more of these realizations and lessons will come forth once I finish all the needed preparations for my future occupation. Of course, knowing that I will be a registered nurse in a few years time, I'll have to stick to what I believe in to keep me motivated. All the actualizations and enlightenment gained from the months that I've spent (and will spend) here in the university will all contribute to my very own Nursing Philosophy that'll improve me not only as a destined registered nurse, but as an active individual in my community as well.
Tumblr media
Here's something you might deem interesting: All my sisters are nurses. In fact, I can say that there are plenty of my family members that are of the same occupation, with some not falling too far from the branch and are still part of the medical field (which basically means they're not exactly nurses but they do work at hospitals.)
I personally know that they have their very own set of values and beliefs for their work, which is the main reason why I'd like to form my own set as well. They do it to better themselves in their profession and I thought maybe I could do the same to prepare for what's to come!
- What Is My Nursing Philosphy? -
I accept Nursing to be an opportunity to help heal those who know not how to tend and care for themselves, and not just as an occupation for the sake of earning money. Seeing my sisters work hours to do what needs to be done has helped me realize that they don't just do it for profit, but because they truly care and nurture for their patient. To attest to that, here's a short story about my oldest sister's experience at work a year ago back when she was working ate the ACE Medical Center:
I vividly recall my sister weeping on her way home from work. Of course, as the only available sister at the time, (since my other sister works in the COVID ward and cannot go home until the weekends) I showed some concern and curiosity and asked her what had happened. She refused to speak to me the first time I approached her, so I left her some alone time 'till it was dinner. We always eat dinner together with my extended family as a whole which meant my cousins, uncle and aunt would eat along with us too. That was the moment she opened up to us about what had happened. The patient she was handling had died and I guess she grew to be fond with her/him. We all know she had no fault in the situation but she used it as fuel to better herself in order to effectively save more lives as a Nurse.
Tumblr media
As you have read, it just proves that Nursing IS caring and loving at the same time. It's healing others because you want to, not just because you need to. This nursing philosophy of mine focuses on the value of providing personalized care for my patients rather than that of financially benefiting from them. It'll help me think critically in future experiences of my work and contribute to realizations that'll keep me motivated and inspire me to improve myself as their nurse.
THATS WHAT MY PERSONAL NURSING PHILOSPHY IS! and I stand by this quote by Carlos Ruiz Zafon that says:
"Making money isn't hard in itself... What's hard is to earn it doing something worth devoting someone's life to"
and nurturing for those that need it is surely worth devoting my life to...

Vaccines and Zombies
We’ve heard about it all!
“I’m not going to get vaccinated. I know it’s going to cause a zombie outbreak”
Tumblr media
Oh Karen, Karen, Karen. I never knew you had the capabilities of out-smarting our scientists!
Let’s just forget you ever said that to save you from embarrassment. And to prove you wrong, here’s a picture of me two months ago getting my vaccine.
Tumblr media
“I’m not a zombie yet, am I?”  I just look pretty haggard but all is good haha.
You see people, it’s not about what the vaccine “might do” but instead its about what the vaccine “will do”. I’ve heard so many opinionated individuals voice out how the think the vaccine might likely turn us into “zombies” by the end of the year, and it’s disappointing how these rumors came from some of my very own family members! We don’t have the intellectual capacity to fight against actual scientists who know exactly what they’re doing, especially since we don’t excel in the field and that we only know less about it. Getting the vaccine can really help the country get back on track in terms of economic recovery! And aside from that, we’d be able to stray away from the virus and be less likely to accumulate it, stopping or delaying it’s spread.
This pandemic is certainly no joke. We’ve lost tons of lives in just days and still, people wouldn’t take this matter seriously and even have the guts to fight against all the needed safety precautions implemented to keep us safe. It’s definitely giving me entitled, bratty energy. I’ve seen clips of silly Anti-Mask Protests done across different countries like the United States and I don’t see the essence of participating in such pointless protests.
Tumblr media
There we’re plenty of people in line for the vaccine. Although it took half the day to finally get injected, I’d say it was worth the sweat and patience!
One thing you should really know about me is that I’m Trypanophobic, and my family and friends can attest to that. It’s a fear of medical procedures involving needles and injections. There’s just something about that uncomfortable and painful sensation that just isn’t for me, and I would cry in seconds the moment I’d realize I’d get injected.
It was funny how the medical practitioner who injected me was trying to calm me down by saying:
“Magnurse raba ka puhon, ayaw paghadlok-hadlok haha” (”You shouldn’t be afraid cause, you’re going to be a nurse yourself someday haha”).
Yes, I do plan on taking the Nursing field! and it’s quite ironic how I’m afraid of injections when my field does require the art of injecting and getting injected. Please spare me your laughs hahaha.
Anyways, the point here is, there shouldn’t be any excuse for you not get that vaccine. Zombie outbreak? Fear of needles? Just get over it and take this as an opportunity to help the world out. TO HELP YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY OUT MOST IMPORTANTLY! I’m knocking on your compassionate hearts right now, and begging you to please change your contrasting minds and line it up with ours. I promise you, that vaccine won’t be the end of you, instead you’ll likely die from accumulating the virus than the virus vaccination.
Take this as a reminder and spread this to hopefully change someone’s mind.

Introducing Myself
I mean, how rude would it be to not properly introduce myself...
"What race are you?"
" What's your sign?"
"Aren't you too young to be writing a blog?"
    ___________________________________
Nobody really asks me these. I honestly just figured it would make me seem as interesting as I could be. Don't get me wrong, I'm quite a unique individual, I mean, aren't we all? You've got your fair share of amazing qualities and so do I.
Since the ownership of this blog is under my name, I thought maybe I could let you in on a small conversation about me and my very own life! Well, though my existence is not as much of a thrill than that of others, I'd say I'm good at story-telling and exaggeration which will very likely contribute to a more entertaining read for you guys! But enough about that, let's get to the real deal...
Hi! Hello! The name is Karyll. I don't really know why most people either misspell my name and add an "e" at the end or either say it wrong, but all is good when it does happen (
and it sure does happen a lot).
I'm a nineteen year old taking the nursing course at Holy Name University here in the Philippines, Bohol to be specific. Not to brag or anything but being nineteen and looking like I'm three years younger is such a flex. Looking young can be quite the hassle for many, no offense ;), and for some, getting to look young would mean for a lot of regimens and procedures which requires
a lot of good ol' money.
Tumblr media
Moving forward,
I'd like to add that I'm a Taurus, considering that I was born on the 10th of May. They say
Taureans
tend to be honest and trustworthy and they're damn right about that one! I value the essence of being honest because I know what it feels to be lied to, and you can completely trust me with secrets because it's either I'll never tell anyone or I'll forget you told me about it in 10 minutes. I typically am not one for horoscopes, which doesn't line up to the fact that I believe in Tarot Card Readings, but all these may be just my way of grabbing on to strings of hope for a brighter future.
Now that I've got that over with, I'm going to list down a number of facts you'd maybe like to catch on about me!
__________________________________________
INTERESTING FACTS:
Will likely become the typical "Crazy Cat Lady"
Pure Filipino, I'm definitely not mixed.
Musically inclined and in fact has quite the passion for singing and playing musical instruments such as the guitar, ukulele, and beatbox.
Dances but I cannot say I'm well at it hihi
Extremely, and by extremely I mean very, clumsy.
Would dip her fries in her icecream
Believes in "no pineapples on pizza" supremacy.
A sucker for the olive green color!

I don't want to get you too caught in my life do I. But, if you do want to get to know me better or if you've got a hand full of questions up your sleeve, then feel free to contact me through my social media accounts or leave it as a comment here!
I'll be more than happy to answer all of them <3
