🌿Life Hack: Get to know your neighbors better. In fact I bet there would be a lot more of us with fresh local ingredients if we knew our neighbors. I found out like a week ago that our neighbor across the road had 5 laying hens in her (very small suburban) backyard. And she found out that I grow a large variety of herbs, bake fresh bread, & have lots of compost scraps for her chickens. We’re friends now and I walk over with my dog once a week to barter something.
At the very least you’ll foster a better sense of community. 🐤

When your friend is trying to convince you that you own too many plants, so you sink back into your jungle to avoid them.
I’m water propagating some of my Snake Plants and I thought one of the paintings in my room made a good backdrop.

my mom taught me the therapeutic power of cleaning. open all the windows. throw out the old. wipe down the entire house. burn some incense. roast some coffee. then rest. that way the tears from last night don’t feel as heavy.

Reason #5664 For A Good Day
Deep, rich, fresh mulch. The siren’s beckoning of the forest, found in a long-neglected garden. It’s like the raw musk of a bountiful earth and the dark, cool shade in the unknown parts of the woods, where you feel as if you could lay until your bones were gilded with dew. Where things are quiet and hushed, everything but the colors of the wildflowers muted and dull.

Danielle Nierenberg, President of Food Tank, shares a sustainability pro-tip in honor of Earth Day. Instead of wasting leftover pasta water by pouring it down the sink, you can save it, let it cool and use it to water your plants. The starchy H2O will give them a beneficial nutrient boost and help them grow. Just be sure to avoid using cooking water that has been salted or seasoned.

I’m telling you, if you struggle with sexuality, Jesus loves you. If you struggle with chronic lying, Jesus loves you. If you struggle with laziness, Jesus loves you. If struggle with gossip, Jesus still loves you. If struggle with bag language, Jesus still loves you. If struggle with anger, Jesus still loves you. If struggle with respect, Jesus still loves you. If struggle with modesty, Jesus still loves you. If struggle with lust, Jesus still loves you. If struggle with addiction, Jesus still loves you. If struggle with pride, Jesus still loves you.
He can get you past it, but He’s going to love you all the way through it.

My mother’s Philodendron bipinnatifidum - or, as it has recently been reclassified, Thaumatophyllum bipinnatifidum.
“A rose by any other name is still just as sweet” as they say. This specimen is stunning no matter what it’s called.
