Each of the pieces of this work comes from photos I’ve personally taken of living (or previously living) beings in the natural world. I’ve always been fascinated by the evolution of homologous and analogous structures within earth’s creatures.
Biology Review:
* Homologous structures - similar structures, different function.
* Analogous structures - different structure, similar function.
I love how wood grain patterns are so similar to muscle striations. How a dragonfly wing is the same shape as a birds feather. How the markings on a cat’s chin can show up on a spiders abdomen. How the network of veins in a leaf radiate the same way as the bronchioles in our lungs.
I see each piece as it is and what it has potential to become.
