Update on my fic 'A Leg to Stand On'! :)

Summary: While escaping from Ruidus on their recon mission, Bell's Hells is attacked and Orym is grievously wounded. Ashton holds him together in more ways than one.

Chapter 3: Bell's Hells managed to reunite and escape from the Ruby Vanguard on the moon, but they're not out of the woods yet. Orym is in critical condition, and the road to recovery will be a rough one.

okay so let's think about this. If we make Clara Kaine's mother then the plot would go something along the lines of forced him to pursue Avon in order to increase her social status. Or she lost her husband to the same disease that's killing Kaine and she knows the La Runs are working on some sort of miracle cure. They were allowed into the testing group for the treatment but it got shut down suddenly. Just when Clara's husband was showing signs of improvement.

I think the second scenario is more solid than having Clara be Kaine's secret lover.

About Kaine:

Dying from the same disease as his father before him, Clara and Kaine seduce the heir to the La Run family. Somewhere along the three years they are together Kaine begins to actually fall for Avon. But for now he's content to work beside Avon researching Star Fall together, but Clara grows impatient as she knows her son's disease could progress any day now. Through their research Avon discovers that something in Star Fall is too dangerous to be used as a cure for anything (and it has something to do with how his parents both died). He plans to scrap the whole project. Clara won't let that happen, and reluctantly, neither will Kaine.

Kaine and Avon both end up in a blast that destroys their lab and throws Kaine out the glass window on the 13th floor. He's presumed dead. And his mum saves him. (Clara is a plastic surgeon). That's when they discover Kaine's new abilities thanks to the Star Fall. Something in Kaine's psyche breaks somewhere down the line. Whether it's finally believing Clara's mad ravings about Star Fall or if it's simply survival at this point. Kaine becomes the monster his mother created. And he learns to enjoy it.

Super Starz (Zodiac based superheroes)

This is just my brain dump of an original story and some details about the world/universe and established characters and power systems. Look for the tag #Super Starz# in my blogs if you wanna read more about the story.

Alright on with my nonsense

Basically the plot:

Avon La Run's fiancé has been believed dead for six years, but Avon knows better. Once upon a time he was excited to marry a brilliant man, whose ambition mirrored his own. But six years ago he found how much deeper and darker those ambitions were. Now Astera, the city he loves, is under attack by a dead man and an army that Avon perhaps helped create.

Now he must use the same dark power that tore their lives apart and create his own warriors to stand against the threat. Surely, he won't turn into a monster like his undead ex-fiancé.

The inspirations:

I really like DC and their superheroes, as well as astrology and witchcraft so this is very much inspired by those themes. People being given power and deciding what to do with that and choosing to do good because there's enough darkness in the world.

Astera the City of Starlight:

The city was built in the crater where multiple giant asteroids had hit several hundred years ago. The remnants of the asteroids were scattered into smaller meteorites in the earth around and beneath the city. These remnants are called "Star Fall".

Avon and his fiancé (can you tell I haven't thought of a name?) were both well known scientists. Avon himself comes from the richest and therefore most influential family in the city. He devoted much of his research to Star Fall along side his soon to be husband. They discovered that the substance had a magical quality to it (although Avon wouldn't exactly call it 'magic' that was his fiancé's phrasing, he preferred : 'yet to be understood science'). Anyways, the story is pretty typical from there, fiancé turns evil (details I won't hash out here just yet). Fiancé kinda dies, and Avon is framed as a murderer, faces jail time but gets off the hook earlier than normal cuz y'know rich.

But now five years after his fiancé's supposed death the city has been plagued by these people... horrors really, with unique powers and abilities. Asterians have taken to calling them 'Fallen', thanks to a lot of online theories circulating that the 'Fallen' are connected to Star Fall. On account of the fact that the La Run family and the city's government cracked down on anything to do with Star Fall, confiscating, commandeering and hoarding the stuff. But that's all just theoretical.

Power system and dynamics:

So you get the whole thing about Star Fall so far, basically a magical (fuck u, Avon) substance that grants people powers. And the powers aren't uniform across the board it's very much unique to the person.

The way you get powers through the Star Fall is highly... medical...? Is the best I can describe it. Basically it is very much like a medical procedure to bond a person to a piece of Star Fall. It also doesn't adapt to everyone, and if your body rejects the Star Fall it will either kill you or irreversibly corrupt your body and then kill you eventually. So how do you identify if someone's body will accept the Star Fall? I don't know. No one does. Avon has his suspicions but we're all just fucking around and finding out at this point.

Also you may or may not be wondering, what does this have to do with the Zodiac. Basically the Zodiac element comes from this: Avon creates three teams of four heroes. Each of my heroes are inspired by the Zodiac signs and if there's any Astrology nerds reading this (first of all hi bestie) then you know Zodiac signs have corresponding elements of Earth/Air/Fire/Water. The teams are basically split this way with each team having one of each element represented. For example a team could be made of: Aries (fire), Scorpio (water), Aquarius (air), Taurus (earth).

The reason for this is that the characters I'm creating are made to work in a team because every team will have a heavy hitter (deals a lot of damage), a healer (heals but also have either high attack and low defense or vice versa), a defensive (absorbs a lot of damage), a support/co-ordinator (has a balance of low support and attack, their powers are often boosters to others on the team).
