We Were Too Close To The Stars| Scaramouche x Reader | Part 1
wanted to do something a bit fun/different so have this apocalypse AU :)) (Fluff? Idk just a story that will have more parts.)
It’s feels like it’s been a few years since the apocalypse started. The zombie outbreak- You weren’t even sure how it started, but you knew one thing and it was that you needed to live. To live for your friends and family members so they can survive through the memories you have of them stored in your brain. Its grueling and tiring to survive in this day and age-you went from a giant group in the beginning to now roaming the world to survive by yourself, nothing but the wishes of friends and family to keep yourself sane and living.
It's what lead you here now, in some abandoned building rummaging for anything that can help you survive for even one more day at least. Most of the cabinets were broken, dust seemed to fill the air and grime coated the walls.
you continued to scavenge for anything- food, medicine, bandages, weapons. Yet nothing was found. You sighed and held the straps of your bag, holding it close.
Turning around your eyes in defeat, widened in slight surprise and you almost jump back from the scare as you're met with a knife right in front of your face.
"Who are you? State your purpose." A cold voice, sending chills down your spine as you follow the knife with your gaze, eyes trailing and finding a hand, the hand leads to a wrist and the wrist connects to an arm and then finally your eyes meets the holder of the knife in your face. Eyes cold and dark- yet they almost seem to glow in the darkness of the building.
“Hello? Answer me.” Your observation was cut off by the sound of his voice, the words slice through your brain sharper than the knife he’s currently holding. You can almost smell the caution and anger seeping off of him in waves- or was it just the fact that nobody really has any time to care about hygiene these days?
-
“Oh! Sorry about that.” You try to lean you head away from the knife subtly. Staring into his cold blue-ish eyes. You raised your arms and opened your palms for his eyes to see. “Just passing by. Didn’t know that this place was already taken.”
You tried to stay calm in this situation. Assessing that the guy in front of you was probably just scared as you were.
“Likely story” He rolls his eyes, his face morphing into a scowl. He keeps his knife up in front of your face, slowly moving it down to point at the middle of your neck. His movements causing you to swallow whatever spit had accumulated in your mouth.
“What?-“ You mumbled, but he cut you off immediately. “Cut the crap. I know you were sent by those bandits.” The knife was touching your throat now, but you could see the subtle shake of his hand as you continued to stare into his eyes- not wanting to make any sudden movements but also not wanting to show him any sign of weakness.
You attempted to take a step back, but his glare at your little movement made you pause. “Look, I’m being serious here. I wasn’t sent here by anyone. As I said I’m just passing by-“
He removed the knife from your throat but just as quickly grabbed your forearm and pulled you forward, making you stumble from the sudden action. He moved quickly behind you and all of a sudden you were at the entrance of the building, getting pushed out.
“uh- Hey!” You shouted in protest, turning your head to meet his eyes. The sun was out- the sudden contrast from dark to light stinging your eyes as you glared at the guy who still had a grip on the back of your clothes and kept pushing you away from ‘his’ building.
With a final push, he let go and you stumbled forward, luckily finding balance and turning around to see him already walking away. You quickly thought about your next courses of actions as you glared at his back. ‘What the hells up with this guy? He won’t even let me speak-“
You shivered, a sudden chill running up your spine as a sense of dread filled your veins. Freezing you even though the sun was beating down on you. Feeling a but of cold sweat as you remembered why you even ran this way.
Before you entered that building and met the strange man, you were running from a hoard of zombies.
“oh fuck.” You whispered to yourself as you stared into the direction you came from, even though zombie sightings has declined a lot recently it didn’t mean that they were going away. They were all just clumping up in a location and traveling in one giant hoard- a hoard that you might have lead in this direction.
You sucked in a breath as you saw a single zombie in the distance, then another and another and another and another and another-
You ran towards the male who dragged you out here and grabbed his wrist, he turned and glared at you about to shout something but you used your free hand to cover his mouth in order to not alert the zombies you saw.
He used his other hand to try and rip your hand away from his mouth, he was glaring at you but you simply shushed him and used your head to point in the direction of the zombies- however he didn’t seem to get the hint and used his strength to remove your hand off of him.
“The fuck?! Do you want to die?!” The moment he shouted, you swore you felt your world shatter. ‘Why did he have such a big mouth??’ cursing him in your brain as you heard the sudden growls and fast footsteps of the oncoming hoard.
You gripped onto his wrist and sprinted away, almost dragging him as he now saw the zombies chasing after you both.
“What the fuck what the fuck??” You bit your tongue as you ran, trying to stabilize your breathing as you felt yourself getting tired from having to hold onto his weight behind you. You managed to hear a bit of his mumbled cursing as you both were running away.
You examined the buildings you were passing by as you let go of his wrist, unsure of why you even pulled him along with you- but it wasn’t a time to think at the moment.
He seemed to run faster, catching up to your pace and even leading the way a bit. You turned your head to look back and saw the hoard quite the distance away- safe enough but if you were to stop then they’d catch up in no time.
Suddenly a tug on the clothes you were wearing caused you to fall into an alley. You hissed in a breath as you felt the sting of the harsh alleyway ground scrape your arms and legs.
“Shh!”
You looked up and saw him- the man standing against the wall, tilting his head and pointing somewhere further into the alleyway. You get up as quietly as you could and follow him, he lead you to an almost broken and rusted looking ladder.
“Come on, climb. It’s safe.” You turned and gave him a disgruntled look, before trusting him in the end and climbing. Trying your best to stay quiet as you heard him follow you up. It lead to the top of the building, you pulled yourself up and quickly went onto the roof, examining in case of any zombies or even humans up here. Nothing.
You heard a huff behind you and you turned, finding the man staring at the edge. You keep your distance from him and also look over the edge. There, you see the hoard of zombies all running along- filling the alleys and running over each other mindlessly.
“ahh, fuck.” You let out a laugh of relief as you continued to watch them- it seemed like it would go on forever. Turning over, you gazed at the man who brought you here.
He had indigo hair, obviously not in its best shape as it looked sloppily cut and dirty- but you probably didn’t look the best either. Although, despite the current situation- his skin looks unharmed. No scares or cuts in sight besides a bandage wrapped around his neck. Your eyes meet his own, his dark and dead eyes captivating your own.
“What?”
“hm?” You tilt your head, lost in thought. He rolls his eyes and looks back down at the chaos beneath us.
“You really aren’t a part of those bandits. Right?” You shook your head, even though he wasn’t looking at you.
“No. No I’m not.” You removed my gaze off of him and stare below as well. Watching them- imagining the zombies as ants. “As I said before, I was just passing by.” You heard him hum- now noticing that he was closer to you than before, it sort of put you in edge as you thought he might just push you off the building.
It seemed as though he read your mind however, “stop being so tense. If I wanted you to die I would have just left you to run from the hoard and die from exhaustion.” Hearing that, you sighed and nodded to his words, ‘Relaxing.’
“sorry…” You mumbled and leaned away from the edge, getting bored of the sight of zombies running in a single direction. You stared into the sky, the fogged grey stealing your attention even though it was probably the middle of the day.
“Why’re you apologizing?” Despite the question, his voice is still cold. Harsh.
You glanced at him, a guilty feeling passing through your body for a second. “The hoard, I’m probably the reason why they’re even here.” You gripped onto the straps of your bag, probably for comfort or just out of habit, you weren’t sure.
A full soft breeze passes before one of you speaks again. “Don’t bother. It’s not like anything can change the fact that they’re here now.”
His words causes a sigh to slip out of my mouth, bringing my head down from its raised position to stare at him. “Yeah. You’re right.”
He stares back blankly, almost awkwardly as you see him glance away from the eye contact a few times and you notice him subtly shifting his weight from one foot to another.
“Alright, since we have nothing else to do but wait is it alright if I asked for your name?” You asked, blinking a few times from the now awkward and slightly uncomfortable atmosphere between the both of you.
He only seemed to laugh dryly at my question. His laugh felt empty- almost hurt. “Do names even matter now? I simply don’t find the point in such insignificant things now in our current situation.”
His words only made you roll your eyes, but he was sort of right. What use is a name when you barely even use it now? But you shook your head and gave him a small smirk.
“Okay, but it’d still be nice to know the name of the person I’d be sticking with.” He seemed to process what you said before glaring at you.
“What?” You could sense the disdain in his voice.
“yeah, I just made the decision that I don’t feel like traveling alone anymore- and you haven’t killed me yet so now I’m sticking with you.” You smiled up at him, enjoying the annoyance that he expressed on his face.
“What if I kill you right now?” Despite the words, his tone held no malice.
“hm, I think I’m more valuable alive than dead.” You shrugged, laughing at him quietly.
atmosphere seems to change, it was uncomfortable before but now it’s just slightly calm. You hold out a hand for him to shake.
“My name is (Name). What’s yours?”
He pauses and stares at your hand for a few seconds. The brings his hand closer to your own and gently holds it- he seems a little bit uncomfortable but still gives your hand a little shake.
“Kuni-“ He stopped himself while you look at him curiously. His eyes darts off to the sides and back at your face, even traveling back towards your interlocked hands. You notice that he takes a small gulp and stares into your eyes.
“Scaramouche. My name is Scaramouche.” His voice seemed a but shaky when he first uttered his name, but it straightened up the more he spoke afterwards.
This only causes you to laugh, looking at him with a raised eyebrow. “Okay Scaramouche. Did you just come up with that on the spot?” You let out a few more giggles before shaking his hand once more and letting go, placing both your hands on your hips as you stared at his flushed face- embarrassed from getting called out probably.
“That’s fine. It’s not like I need a reason to know your birth name.” He seemed to calm down at that, glaring off to the side but you can still see the smile he’s trying to fight off of his face.
Alright, this is the end of this part 😘 Sorry about not making a part 4 for my other series things i jst dunno what to do or how to even continue it. Might actually just scrap it and start all over. I couldn’t find the words to say ‘I love you’.
omg guys its finally a part 3 😱 Finally got inspo to write sorry for the longest wait ever lmao
part 1 here. part 2 here. extra but also kinda important here.
It’s been months. You haven’t spoken to Mona or Scaramouche at all since you caught them in ‘the act’. Honestly it sent shivers of disgust all over your body.
You walked in the halls of your college- even though you shared the same one with both the people that you used to call ‘friends’ you thankfully havent seen them at all.
Taking out your phone and scrolling through anything to clear your mind of the nuisances that you foolishly allowed to be by your side for years, you bumped shoulders with someone.
“Ah, sorry I should have been looking where I was going” you turn around and say apologetically, not expecting to see the man that has been plaguing your mind for this long.
He turned, glared at you for a few seconds before the glare faltered. Both of your eyes stayed connected and the tug of your heart hurt so bad, but you just took a deep breath, blinked at him with the blankest face you could muster, turned and walked away.
And God, did that feel good- that was until you felt a grab at your shoulder, and you were pulled back slightly.
“(Name)…” His voice whispered out, but you didn’t want to turn. You shrugged his hand off of you, and turned your head slightly, just to get that look on his face and you glared.
“Don’t fucking speak to me. You chose to do what you did, so just do what you always wanted me to do and fuck off.” Then you finally walked away from him- with an aching heart of course, but it was finally a step forward. With every step away from him it felt like you could finally breathe, like you could finally feel the weight of all those years slide off and far away.
Going about your day, it’s only been about an hour or two since bumping into Scaramouche in the hall. You were so happy to have finally let go of such a burden- having finally broken a promise you’ve made to a ‘dead person’ (if ur confused read the prequel thing or just dont idk)
However happiness was cut abruptly when you were faced with the other half of the nuisance, Mona. You were unsure of your standings with her, she seemed to only be your friend when Scaramouche wasn’t in the picture, but she’d also treat you as if you were some gross bug when he was around.
Seeing her stand in front of you so casually as if she hadn’t just ghosted you for some boy made you pissed off.
“(Name)! It’s been so long, how’ve you been?” The casualty in her voice and actions towards you start irritating you. You give her a disgusted look.
“what the hell are you talking about? ‘(Name) it’s been so long, how’ve you been?’ “ You mock her words in an overly high pitched and obnoxious voice.
“You ghosted me Mona. Don’t come skipping back expecting me to be the same (Name) I was months ago- actually scratch that, I’m pretty grateful.” You cross your arms and look her in the eyes with a glare.
“(Name) look I’m sorry-“ You cut her off.
“shut up and let me speak for fucks sake.” You rolled your eyes, not letting her speak over you.
“You went no contact on me, blocked me from literally everything! Kind of glad you did that for me though, with you and your bitch of a boyfriend out of my life for all those months I realized how fake you are!”
When she opened her mouth to speak- or defend herself you just walked away, not wanting to even hear any more of her voice.
yeah sorry this is kinda shit, but like if any of u wanna take inspo or kinda remake this and my other fics into something else just feel free. I honestly meant to keep the first fic as just that, but ppl wanted a part 2 so I made the part 2 and then ppl wanted a part 3 and I was just like ‘damn wth do i do now’ so yeah. Thanks for reading 😭❤️

I Like You, Say it back | Scaramouche x Reader
yeah, this can be read as a whole new story or as a prequel to those 2 angst fics I got behind this one. but im just gna link them anyways
PART 1 (alarms) PART 2 (Heart)
Warnings: Fluff + angst near the end, Modern AU, Scaramouches real name (it should still be counted as a spoiler right??), This is all set in elementary - Highschool
Throughout elementary to high school, your heart had always belonged to a very specific someone. His name is Kunikuzushi.
At first it was just a small crush that started in fourth grade- when you first had classes with him. He was a shy boy, but as school was coming to an end he started getting comfortable with the class.
He made so many jokes. His sarcasm never failed to surprise you. Unfortunately, the most interactions you’ve ever had with him was when he had picked up your pencil and handed it to you because it fell from your desk.
“oh thanks..” You remember telling him, and he only gave you a small smile before returning back to his work.
Middle school was when you started getting closer with him. Even though Mona had introduced you both together and became a trio, there was an obvious ‘hidden’ duo- you and Kunikuzushi.
It wasn’t even that you two had ‘neglected’ Mona, she was just never interested in doing anything with the both of you when you and Kunikuzushi were together and she wanted to play with the twins- Aether and Lumine instead.
Middle school year was the year you gave Kunikuzushi the nickname “Kuni”. You loved that you were the only one allowed to call him that, and anyone else who called him that was ignored.
In Eighth grade, you both made a promise to one another. You remember that day so vividly.
It was raining, and you forgot your umbrella. Luckily Kunikuzushi had one, but he wasn’t being nice and everytime you tried getting under it with him he’d just move until you were out in the rain again.
“Kuni! Let me get under the umbrella you jerk!” You said with annoyance, trying to conceal your giggles while he only stared at you with a smirk.
After a while of you chasing him he got out of your reach again. “Alright alright! But if you want to get under the umbrella you have to promise me something.”
You stopped, confused. “Yeah yeah I’ll promise whatever now hurry up and say it!”
His smile fell and he looked serious. “I’m not joking around. It’s a serious promise.”
You only pouted at that. “okay okay serious promise.”
He sighed. “Promise you won’t ever leave me.” You could only stare at him in confusion. “Wh-“ You tried to start but got interrupted.
“Promise me.” You couldn’t tell if it was the rain, or if he was crying.
You were taken aback by the sudden serious atmosphere. “Okay, I promise I won’t ever leave you.”
You heard him sniff a few times before you finally walked closer and closer until you were under the umbrella with him.
shuffling your feet for a few seconds, you muster up the courage to quickly embrace him in a hug.
“Ah- Hey! Get off me you’re drenched!” Hey yelled, his free arm gently trying to pry your arms off him. You could only giggle and hold him closer.
“This is what you get for leaving me out in the rain!”
As fun as middle school was, it had to end. This is where things just went wrong.
You don’t know what you did, but Kunikuzushi started ignoring you. It was as if your whole middle school year got erased from his mind. He didn’t wave back at you in the halls, ignored you when you said ‘hi’, and he even spoke to Mona more than he spoke to you.
He started hanging out with this group called “the fatui”.
He became bitter and mean. The Kunikuzushi you were friends with was gone. He started demanding people call him ‘Scaramouche’ and when you went up to him and called him the nickname you gave him in Middle school he gave you a look of pure disgust and told you to forget the past because he doesn’t give a damn about you anymore.
He told you to your face that you were ‘just a phase’ and a ‘thing to pass time’ to him. He said he never wanted to be your friend and with all that said, he left you behind.
The only thought that you were thinking back then was “he must have forgotten that he made you keep a promise.”
So from Freshman year to Senior year, you stuck by his side. Back then you believed that you have fallen out of love with him, and stayed just because of your promise that you made to your old friend ‘Kunikuzushi’.
But you were lying. You were still as deeply in love with Scaramouche as you were with Kunikuzushi.
It seems time has only ever pushed you two apart though, because despite your efforts he still treated you like trash.
He even showed you himself that you were worse than everyone else in his standards because he made it very clear with his actions.
He would treat other girls with more respect than he treated you. Every time he was with Mona and you were around he’d joke around and playfully tease her while your heart squeezed oh so painfully in your chest.
You should have taken it as a sign to have just break that stupid promise you made. But you didn’t. You stayed with him no matter what still.
All in honor of your friend. Your Kunikuzushi.
So, all those years of trying. All those years of ‘friendship’. All those years of unrequited love, you must think that it would have a happy ending.
As you look at his contact name in your list, and the red message from the system reading “unable to send messages to this user” slightly out of breath from running away from the sight if Scaramouche and Mona making out in the library, all you could think with red watery eyes is “How did it come to this?”
Okay sorry idk how to signal that Scara blocked u 💀💀💀 yeah i tried adding some fluff because the other ones were just angst also I think I’m seeing a quality decrease in my fics so dont expect a part 3 for this ‘series’ thing so soon
so like there will be a next part, just idk when so have fun w this one for now!

My Heart Will Never Feel, Never See, Never Know | Scaramouche x Gn!Reader (part 2 to previous one)
Warnings: hurt no comfort, No happy ending (sorry lol) probably ooc Mona, mean scaramouche (kind of?), Angst, really rushed and really bad oh my god
The next day you acted as if nothing had happened. You met with Mona at the usual spot, and felt disheartened that she didn’t even bother to ask you about what happened the day before.
Instead, Mona chose to speak about a different topic that day.
“(Name), I need your help.” She asked, her face having a slight pink hue to it now. “Yeah, what’s wrong?”
Mona brought her hands down to her lap, twiddling with her fingers. “So… I like Scaramouche.”
Without her knowing, those three words shattered your world. You knew of course- that Mona liked Scaramouche. Hell, it was so obvious many people came up to ask you after classes if those two were dating. (They wouldn’t dare ask Mona or Scaramouche themselves because of how intimidating they looked)
Her words seemed to echo throughout your mind, but eventually you cleared your head of those unneeded thoughts, and forced a small giggle.
“H-Hey! What’s with the laughing??” Mona only seemed to grow even redder at your response.
“Sorry, it was just so obvious! I was waiting for you to tell me when you liked him.” You grinned and lightly jabbed her arm with your elbow.
Mona was flustered, face red and she was trying to conceal her smile while you could only hold back the tears threatening to show.
Scaramouche eventually shows up, late like always- and once again you try to strike up a conversation with him, only to get an eye roll and an irritated sigh from him. You could tell he was unhappy with your presence due to the fact that the obvious look of disgust and irritation on his face.
But like usual, you ignored it. Still holding him close to your heart despite the cold shoulder.
Mona immediately went to his side and thus the walk to the school had started- you trailing behind like the last few months.
Although, you felt as if things could be different today, feeling a little confident you increased your walking speed a bit to the point where you were almost right next to them- although you were a bit off of the sidewalk, you were next to them. Next to him.
You put a small smile on your face as you listened to what Mona was talking about, something about her interest in Astrology and how she had just recently befriended a girl named Layla-
You eyes widened at the familiar name. “Oh you know Layla too?” After hearing you both Mona and Scaramouche looked at you- causing you to feel nervous.
You wished you failed to notice how Scaramouche (who was in the middle between you and Mona) seemed to just move closer to Mona’s side- seemingly as a way to get away from you, while Mona looked surprised yet uncomfortable. She looked at you as if you had just intruded on something.
The silence quickly became uncomfortable. Nobody speaking up as you all walked together.
You tried not to focus on the way you wanted to cry as Scaramouche held Mona’s hand and sped up away from you, leaving you behind as your walk pace slowed down to an almost stop.
This time you could help the sobs coming out of your throat as you walked alone.
-
You showed up to class late and with red baggy eyes. Some of your classmates had asked if you were okay- you so badly wanted to tell them whats on your mind, but you knew it was only out of pity. They didn’t deserve to be dumped with your problems, so you just reassured them that you were fine.
As your classes ended around lunch time, you pulled out your phone to text Mona, feeling better after not being able to think about what happened this morning during class.
‘Hey Mona, wna meet up at that cafe near the univeristy and eat there?’
‘Srry (Name) Scara asked me to go somewhere with him, wng be able to dho todya’
You felt.. Disappointed but not surprised- well you were surprised by the text message that Mona had sent. She usually always makes sure her spelling is correct and even scolds you when you make a spelling error, you were confused and just sent her a question mark as you went on a search for your best friend.
Walking around the halls, you remembered that Mona had shown you a spot where she liked to relax at to get away from her studies, so you went to check there first. (oh how you’d regret that.)
Mona liked to hang out in one of the lesser known libraries, the specific one she went to had a lit of books about stars, which was the reason that had drawn her there and the atmosphere was why she stayed. Plus, there was barely anyone there and the people that did show up were mostly the workers and they usually stayed in the front of the library.
Quietly opening the library door, you saw the librarian fast asleep on the desk. Shaking your head with a sigh, you went past the bookshelves and chairs heading deeper into the library.
As you got closer to the end of it, you could hair the sounds of heavy breathing and sighs. You could feel the uneasiness swell in your stomach.
The cold pricked at your skin as you finally found what was the cause of the noise. Your eyes wide and you felt like you wanted to break down right then and there.
The burn in your throat has never felt worse as you struggled to contain your tears.
After all, the sight of your crush making out with your best friend is never a pretty sight to see.
You weren’t standing there in shock for long, as Mona eventually catches your figure, and breaks off the kiss.
“(Name)?! O- oh my god”
Scaramouche’s head turned and you shared eye contact.
He was glaring at you with the meanest glare you’ve ever seen from him. If eyes could kill you would have been dead right then and there.
“Shit- sorry, fuck I didn’t know- I’ll be leaving.”
and with that you turned and sped walked out of that library, making sure to text Mona a quick, ‘sorry lol’ as you rushed out of the university with a red face and eyes full of tears.
You were so shocked that you didn’t notice that the tiny message from the app had read ‘User Unavailable’.

Turn Off All Alarms and Lie to Me| Scaramouche x Gn!Reader | part 2 here
Angst, hurt no comfort, use of Scaramouche’s real name, Modern Au, probably ooc Mona (I dont have her so it’s hard to understand her character, plus she doesn’t exactly interest me as much as others so I won’t put that much effort into writing her cuz of that 😭 sorry) also they’re all in University
-
“(Name), how about I read you a fortune?” Asked your best friend Mona, who sat right next to you on the bench. The both of you were currently waiting for your other childhood best friend (frenemy in Mona’s case) Scaramouche.
You just tilted your head up to the sky, pretending to think about your answer before turning over to look at Mona. “Nah, I think I’m good.”
Knowing about things- the future, scared you. You felt like sometimes (most times) it’d just be best to go with the flow, knowing things you weren’t supposed to know only lead to bad decisions you believed.
However despite your answer, Mona gave you a playful huff and an eye roll. “You sure? How about I sneak a peak into what your love life would look like? You were always so curious about it in elementary now I can actually fulfill a wish of yours!” She said excitedly.
You weren’t annoyed by her behavior- actually her insistence about your fortune made you a little bit curious.
After a few seconds of contemplating, you gave Mona your opened palm.
“Just this once, okay?”
Mona beamed up at you upon hearing that. Hastily yet gently she reached out for your opened hand and placed hers above it, making sure her gloved hand and your skin aren’t touching.
She closed her eyes and you waited.
A few seconds pass by, and she opens her eyes. A look completely contrasting her previous one.
“oh (Name)… I’m sorry-“ You gave her a confused look, feeling your heart drop at the words.
“hm? What’s wrong?” You asked as she removed her hand away from yours. Mona just shook her head and looked away from you.
“Your fortune… Isn’t exactly a good one. I’m sorry (Name) you said you didn’t want to know yet I still pushed-“ Mona started, but you cut her off.
“Hey, it’s fine really. It’s just about my love life, I don’t really care about it.”
She seemed hesitant, but then folded. She had owed you an explanation after all. “Your love will be unrequited. The person whom you hold all your affections towards will be cold and distant, favoring someone close to you instead.”
Mona caught the way your expression fell and quickly went back to apologizing, saying that she would bring you to your favorite fast food place, or even take you to your favorite restaurant after classes ended to make up for it.
You just recollected yourself and reaffirmed that she didn’t have to do all of that. It’s not her fault that your fortune is the way it is.
As she was about to continue, Scaramouche finally arrived. Wanting to distract Mona from the previous conversation, you spoke to Scaramouche.
“You’re as early as ever.”
You only received an eye roll and a scoff that seemed way too annoyed to be taken as a friendly joke.
The action caused your heart to sink.
Mona immediately jumped up from her seat to ‘scold’ Scaramouche for showing up later than we all agreed, but you zoned out on their conversation opting to think about how long you’ve liked Scaramouche.
You were introduced to him through Mona, though all of you used to share the same class from elementary to early middle school and sometimes even Highschool.
The first day you shared a class with him was when you started liking him- when he used to go by Kunikuzushi. He was shy and nice, you remembered constantly staring at him during class (before you befriended him) and his sarcastic remarks towards the teachers and students that you would over hear sometimes would never fail to make you laugh.
You would be lying if you said you lost feelings for him a long time ago, because even as he grew colder and meaner to everyone around him- including you and Mona, you still loved him the same if not more.
Seeing Mona and Scaramouche walk off towards the University you all went to, you followed behind.
Scaramouche and Mona walked besides each other while you trailed behind. Eyes glued to their backs as you saw them talk.
Bitterness swelled in your throat, but you ignored it just like how you ignored it all the years before.
Jealousy wasn’t something you were unfamiliar with- in fact you felt it every day. When Scaramouche grew colder, you and him both had a slight distance much to your disdain, while him and Mona only seemed to get closer. You assumed it was just due to Mona’s persistence to get him to walk to correct path.
The two always bickered and fought, yet they had the closest bond between the three of you. Some days it made you want to curl up in a ball and cry because the feeling that you were third wheeling, or was just an extra piece to an already finished puzzle was too much to bare.
Snapping out of your thoughts, you realized that the sounds of Mona and Scaramouche’s ‘not-so-quiet’ quiet argument went dead silent.
Your eyes focused on the two, trying to figure out what caused them to go dead silent since it wasn’t normal- only for your eyes to catch a sight that made your heart slowly sink into your stomach.
They were holding hands.
You could only hear the background noises as you heard Mona’s fortune repeat in your head.
“Your love will be unrequited. The person whom you hold all your affections towards will be cold and distant, favoring someone close to you instead.”
you felt sick. The temperatures felt off and a slight feeling of nausea swelled in your stomach.
It didn’t help that none of them even turned back to check on you as you had stopped walking.
-
They didn’t even notice that you walked away from them. They didn’t even bother to text you about where you went- were you really that much of a bother?
Had they preferred it when you weren’t there? Walking home felt bad, but with the lack of texts from both Scaramouche and Mona made you feel even worse.
the thoughts were overwhelming and you just wanted to sleep. So that’s exactly what you did.
I want there to be more of scaramouche but I just wanted to get this little fic out there. Sorry if it’s bad, might make a part 2 if it’s requested tho.
Extra note: HELP I MADE THIS LATE AT NIGHT SO GOING BACK TO REREAD SO I CAN SEE WHERE TO START FOR THE PART 2 IS MAKING ME CRINGE SO BAD OMG NOO ALREADY SO MANU PEOPLE SAW THIS 😭😭
