Development

Director and writer Sandeep Vanga wanted to make a Hindi remake of his 2017 film Arjun Reddy after the immense success of the film. He originally wanted to see Ranveer Singh in the role of Kabir Singh, however, it didn’t work out. He then wanted to see Shahid Kapoor as the lead, however, the remake rights for Arjun Reddy were in the hands of Murad Khetani and Ashwin Varde of Cine1 Studios, who wanted to see Arjun Karoop in the lead role. Sandeep Vanga was very disappointed when he said, “I’ve come to know that the remake rights of Arjun Reddy have been sold and it would star Arjun Kapoor. I am caught in a dilemma, as I’ve already locked Shahid for the role. It’s a very embarrassing situation for me. I don’t know how I’ll face Shahid.” Despite all this, In April 2018, it was announced that Shahid Kapoor will be starring with Sandeep Vanga returning as a director.

Sandeep Vanga even spoke about the sense of freedom he’ll get while working in Bollywood. He stated “When I made Arjun Reddy, I wasn’t sure where to draw the line in terms of representation of certain things. I don’t think I’d have to restrict myself when it comes to the Hindi version. I believe I’ll have more freedom in Bollywood”.

Who Is Kunal Bansal Chandigarh
