Berthon is involved through our apprenticeship programme and the apprenticeship expansion pilot where Government funding has allowed us to encourage our competitors to take on apprentices. Through this scheme we have placed or hired over 100 apprentices with a 97% graduation success rate.

Its been a big year of Peter Watson and his FPB 64 GREY WOLF and the voyage continues for this bluewater cruising motor yacht

After hitting a submerged container in the channel wooden fishing vessel CHALE BAY came to Berthon to be surveyed and repaired by our skilled shipwrights allowing our apprentices to learn valuable wooden boat repair skills.

Berthon Apprentices’ Project - West Solent One Design (January 2014)

The Berthon apprentices are currently restoring a West Solent One Design (RIPPLE) as an educational project on behalf of Boatyard owner Brian May.

With the laminated frames in the mid ship section now in place, bronze fabricated plate floors have been fitted, tying the two halves of the boat together along the centre line. The stern post, stern knee and rudder box have been removed, with the new stern post and and stern knee having been made and later installed.
