I may not be into Bakudeku as a romance, but I am VERY HAPPY at the info coming out about MHA Chapter 322.

Regardless of whether one ships it or not, everyone should be pleased that Bakugou's character development has lead him to actually apologize for his past actions toward Izuku. That is a big deal, and even bigger to those of us that worried that typical Japanese socio-cultural behaviors would hold back Horikoshi from delivering on it.

Well done to Horikoshi, well done to Bakugou, and a hearty grats to the folks that had faith Bakugou would own up. I look forward to seeing the story play out from here.

Welp, I certainly feel sheepish, as I was apparently basing my knowledge of Arturian legend too heavily on more conventional adaptations (I've never even seen or read one that had Nimue/Vivian in it outside of simply being the mysterious Lady of the Lake, so that's egg on my face, and a "well, actually" into oblivion XD).

Thank you for the corrections. I appreciate the improved knowledge of the characters present in the Arturian legend. ^_^

As for that guardian of all three swords, I misremembered events in Changes, thinking he had all three swords when, in fact, he never had Sanya's, Sanya just happened to burst in to save the day. You are, again, correct.

Could have simply been a retcon due to Butcher realizing that the kind of injuries sustained by Murphy during that fight with Nicodemus would be impossible to achieve a 90% recovery when the victim is a 40+ year-old. Also, 90% likely wouldn’t be debilitating enough to force her into this aggressive mindset she now possesses.

So he threw in the lines spoken by Murphy about how “there was damage.” That isn’t, or shouldn’t be, for Harry’s benefit from a meta perspective. It’s for the reader. Harry and Murphy have been an item since the end of Skin Game, and would have had plenty of time to catch up on the medical details of her condition with how often he’d have seen her. They should have already discussed this, especially how much they were both craving intimacy with one another even in Skin Game.

The way Butcher writes her explanation to Harry seems to frame it as tho, over the course of her physical therapy and rehabilitation, they found more damage than they’d actually thought existed (ie, more than would warrant a prognosis of 90% recovery); evidence that her wounds debilitated her more than initially perceived. It’s a quick and dirty way of shaping her into whatever Butcher needs her for in Battle Ground, I suspect.

So I just finished my re-read of Skin Game, and Harry tells Michael at the end that Murphy will likely get back to 90% from her injuries. Then I was reading the Peace Talks chapers that are out and they talk about her being lucky to get back to 50%

Did I miss something?

Also..... Harry now possesses the shroud of Turin, which is rumoured to have healing powers. And its the REAL shroud, not the fake one the Vatican has. So plz sir, put the blanket on your girlfriend. Tuck her in and heal her up.

“Peace Talks” -- Ramblings About a Big Character Revelation

Mab is/was Morgana Le Fay of Arturian legend.

How is this important?

Well, in most versions of the Arturian legend, Merlin falls for Arthur’s half-sister Morgana after a period of mentoring her in the ways of magic, before she commits a betrayal that ultimately leads to his “death/imprisonment,” as well as the conception of Mordred, Arthur’s illegitimate son and a dark reflection of himself (Mirror Mirror, anyone?).

If we take a little of what we know about that legend, and apply it to what we have seen throughout the Dresden Files so far (and what little we have been told of possible future events), we come to realize that Harry’s life is full of ‘coincidental’ repeats of Arturian legend.

Harry Dresden was born to a woman with the title of ‘Le Fay.’ He is young for a wizard (a mere 40-ish compared to the over 300 he could possibly become), yet has already made massive strides in his magical capabilities despite his youth, is still chock full of untapped potential, can trace his line of apprenticeship back to Merlin, has served as a guardian for all three of the holy swords wielded by the Knights of the Cross (which includes Excalibur), has been exposed to all manner of supernatural entities and threats (including the Knights of the Blackened Denarius, and at least one religion’s version of Hell), has become the Warden of Demonreach, is a Starborn, and he trained an apprentice who is/was not only in love with him, but also partly responsible for his “death/imprisonment,” and who eventually became one of the Queens of Faerie.

Coincidence? I think not. Harry Dresden may as well have a sign taped to his back saying “Second Coming of Merlin.” XD

I don’t really know what else to add at this point, cuz it is past midnight and my mind is all a-jumble.

Oh! The revelation of Mab’s past mortal identity does also would go a long way toward explaining why the Leanansidhe would have thought Morgana’s athame a fitting gift/tool with which to acquire power enough to potentially challenge Mab. Something like that might still have had some bit of power over Mab, some bit of influence linked to its connection to her mortal past life.

A bit heavier on the spoiler talk for this one, so click the thing to read more if you wanna see me ranting about stupid Butters nonsense.

I do not care that Butters is in a poly relationship with two attractive werewolf women. As a concept, polyamory isn’t something I am against.

I DO care about the fact that Butcher wrote it terribly. I care about the fact that ever since Cold Days, Butcher has been framing every aspect of Butters’ “development” in some of the shittiest ways possible, and at the expense of other characters (especially women). I’m certain I don’t need to remind everyone of how god-awful it was for Butters to gain his Knighthood on the back of the pain and suffering of Murphy losing her very identity as a warrior. I apparently don’t have to, because Jim Butcher himself reminds us in both of Karrin’s intimate scenes with Harry.

Butters gets to be in good physical shape, wield a lightsaber, have a polyamorous relationship with two women, and best Sanya in a swordfight (fucking WHAT?!). And Murphy? “[Murphy doesn’t] get to be [her] anymore.” She doesn’t even get to be as intimate with Harry as she wants because of the severity of her injuries! What the FUCK, Jim?!

Real talk. Butters was one of my favorite DF side-characters pre- “Cold Days” and subsequent novels. Operative word there being side-character. He was a funny, nerdy everyman who popped in here and there to serve a limited role as Dresden’s personal pseudo-mob doc, a touch of comic relief, and an occasional brain to balance Harry’s increasingly idiotic brawn. To see him turned into the sort of crazy wish-fulfillment character found in isekai anime is a disservice to him. To make Andi and Marcy party to that disservice is gross, which is to say nothing that hasn’t already been said about Murphy.

Now, I’ve seen some of the preliminary theories that Murphy will die in battle and get to be reborn as an Einherjar. Honestly, considering how much Butcher is hammering us with the knowledge that she can’t recover past 50% without supernatural assistance, as well as her previous interactions with both the Einherjaren and the Valkyries, I’d say that’s almost a given.

Doesn’t make up for the fact that all of this suffering she has experienced was used to uplift a nerd stereotype into becoming fucking Kirito.

Fic Update Status: A Word of Apology

To those of you who began following me for my fanfic "For Want of a Notebook," I deeply apologize. I know it's been nearly 2 months since the last update...

The simple truth of the matter is that I had a downward spiral after my last depressing episode, and it has taken every ounce of willpower I have to try and claw my way back from it. Real world problems, particularly those relating to mental health, don't care about schedules and promises.

So, I apologize.

I have set a new goal to have Chapter 5 out by the end of the month. I hope you will continue to enjoy beautiful wonders of DekuMomo in the meantime.

Status Update (Part II): “For Want of a Notebook” Chapter 5

Hey hey!

So, y’all might be a little disappointed, but I am unfortunately going to be delaying Chapter 5 of FWoaN by at least a day. Between paid proofreading/editing work I’m doing for my cousin, in addition to my actual primary job, plus laying the foundation for my future YouTube channel, and an incredibly miserable couple of nights post-rejection by my crush of the past 7 months, I have been all over the place. All things considered, I need a bit of self-care. ^^;;

With that being said, the delay won’t be excessive (no less than 1 day, but no more than 3 days), and I think I’ll be able to hop back into the writing pretty quickly.

Some things to look forward to in Chapter 5:

Izuku’s academic capability is measured

Momo’s diehard love for tutoring is revealed

Sebastian shows off his sadistic side
