"bring a jacket next time."
pairings: tetsurou kuroo x reader
genre: fluff
notes: in japan, their way of checking the time is much different than america. they use 24-hour clocks. so if it was 1 in the afternoon, it would be counted as 13:00 for them.
a/n: it felt like some special holiday for me today and i don't know why... but seriously, how is my last kenma fanfic getting so much love istg- anyways, enjoy this fanfiction! i couldn't think of a good title for this on... :sob:
you sneeze suddenly when a gust of wind blows against your legs. it is indeed cold outside, but the shriveled leaves scraping their way down the street makes it seem much colder.
"why does it have to be so cold on a beautiful night like this..," you mutter to yourself, wrapping yourself with your arms.
too bad you didn't contemplate on bringing a jacket with you before bursting through the door with kuroo calling behind you.
well, now you feel a little guilty remembering that you lied to kuroo that you were going to buy some snacks at a nearby konbini. in reality, you just want to spend most of the night searching for some shooting stars.
you make a brief trip to the park, to which you find everything abandoned. that one big red slide that you always see children fighting to have their turn on is now empty and lonely. the swings seem motionless, too. however, they still rock back and forth every now and then when a chilly breeze rushes by. the seesaw is tilted down at an angle, making one side touch the ground full of woodchips.
you search for that favorite brown bench that has legs made out of an elegant black metal of some sort. soon, you discover it sitting under a big maple tree silently. it faces a metal fence that is as high as your waist, which a beautiful view of a huge lake stretches out on the other side of that fence. you don't hesitate to plop down and make yourself comfy on the bench, admiring the wavy reflection of the glittering stars and moon on the water's surface.
you could stare at such a view all day...
well, you would if you had brought a jacket though.
the cold night air wraps around you, trying to embrace you in a friendly way, but all it does is make you shiver and lift your feet onto the bench. you hug your knees and bury your mouth and nose inside your arms and knees, cursing to yourself about why you were stupid enough to not bring some warm clothing before setting out.
"just like i thought," a voice that sounds very familiar booms out from behind you, making you flinch.
you turn your head around to see a bedhair walk up to you with a cheeky grin.
"tetsu?!" you squeal, a little shocked that he actually know exactly where you were. "how did you know i'm here?"
kuroo is bundled up in a scarf and his nekoma jacket. he also has a thick piece of folded cloth draped over his right arm, making you assume that it's probably a blanket.
"i've never seen you that eager to do some shopping at the konbini, kitten," he replies, taking a seat next to you.
"you've always been a fan of sceneries outside, so that gave me an idea."
you give him a look of amazement, awed by the fact that he knows you very well like you're his child or something. however, it isn't long before kuroo bonks you on the head.
"you little rascal~ why didn't you bring a coat? it's like below 25 degrees celsius, and here you are, hanging out at the park, short-sleeved, and without a jacket or coat."
you whimper at his remarks.
"well, you know i was excited, tetsu..," you pout, puffing your cheeks out.
he chuckles, "nobody was blaming you, ok?"
kuroo takes a moment to peel off his nekoma jacket and place it over your shoulders. you gratefully hug it over your shoulders. other than the fact that it smells strongly of that lavender body soap you gave him, the jacket felt warm from kuroo's body heat, making you feel safe.
an unintentional smile slips onto your lips and you readjust your gaze to the sky.
"say... do you think there will be any shooting stars tonight?"
kuroo lifts a brow before fixing his gaze at the sky as well.
"oya? hunting for shooting stars?"
you nod eagerly, continuing to look up attentively.
"mhm! you told me that it's shooting star season!"
the branches of the maple tree above you sway gently, swishing its leaves together to create gentle rustling sounds.
kuroo smiles and points towards one of the stars.
"do you know how stars are formed, n/n?" he asks you, his finger directing your gaze towards the appointed star.
you squint to make a more intricate observation of the star while racking your brain, trying to remember your astrology lessons at school.
"well... don't stars form from accumulated gas and dust in space?" you finally conclude, remembering one fact your teacher has emphasized back then.
kuroo nods happily.
"yep. stars form when the gravity of the dust and air collapse together, which makes them heat up out of pressure."
he continues to ramble on about how stars mostly contain hydrogen and helium, the lightest elements to exist in the universe, and how stars are, in reality, exploding balls of gas.
you listen patiently as he explains. you are always interested in his nerdy science talk, as well as the way he is invested in his own world when a discussion related to a scientific topic arises.
it takes him a little bit to finish his explanation with a sneeze.
of course, he's not wearing his jacket. that's why.
you take off the jacket you were wearing and hand it to him.
"you're gonna catch a cold, so take your jacket back."
however, he pushes it back into your chest.
"no, kitten. you have it. i'm worried about you more."
you begin to pout, angry that he's always caring for your health instead of his own.
"no, kuroo," you say with an upset look. "this is not my jacket."
you two begin fighting about who should wear kuroo's jacket, exaggerating the possibilities of not wearing one and lecturing one another.
"that's it," kuroo sighs, looking troubled.
at first, you are confused by his words.
"what do you m-"
it was at this moment that kuroo covers the blanket that you forgot he had brought onto his back and then trapping you inside his arms, wrapping your body inside the blanket.
"there, now we're both warm," he smirks.
you take a while to understand the situation you're currently in before blushing madly. you look up at him, only to see that usual proud smirk on his face. he obviously did this on purpose.
"tetsu?! what the actual hell?!" you scream.
"oya? anything wrong?" he asks a little too 'innocently', pissing you off.
you growl back, "of course, you dumbass! people might see us and take this to like a million different wrong directions!"
"kitten, it's almost half-past 23:00. it's really unlikely that we'll be seen since most people are asleep."
you can't counter back, because that sly cat is right. most people are asleep at this time, so it's highly unlikely that you'd get caught like this with kuroo.
you have no idea how to react, so you decide to lean your back against kuroo, resting your head on his chest. at least, you realize that you feel much warmer than wearing his jacket. in the end, you start to relax, paying closer attention to the steady rise and fall of his chest while he breathes.
"do you ever see stars as memories when you look at them?" you ask kuroo, tilting your head upwards to meet his gaze.
"sometimes," he smiles, looks at one of the stars.
"like that one near that giant cloud reminds me of when i stole your meat from your lunchbox."
you cough.
"do you think this is a great time to bring this up??"
he only smirks at you. "you asked if i get reminded of anything when i look at a star."
you pout a little and fix your eyes to another star and point your finger towards it.
"well, this one reminds me of when yaku beat your ass for stealing meat from my lunchbox."
you two begin talking back and forth, saying which star represented which memory, laughing about the old days, and fighting about various things, like who should've gotten to eat that scrumptious piece of steak.
as you come back to argue about the lunchbox situation again, a white streak catches your eyes, snapping your attention back to the sky.
"look, tetsu! shooting stars!" you exclaim.
what kuroo turns his head to look at the sky with you.
sure enough, more streaks of white rain down like a slight drizzle.
"hurry up! make a wish!" you tell him before clasping your hands together before your face and close your eyes.
kuroo looks at you, then back at the sky. after a while, he closes his eyes and makes his wish.
i want to stay by y/n's side, even after i graduate.
however, he doesn't say it out loud. instead, he wraps his arms around your chest after you have finished making your wish.
for the first time in forever, kuroo gives you the most genuine smile that you've ever seen, which surprises you since you're so used to his cheeky smirks. it reminds you of honey and its sweet flavor.
"you know, kitty, we could do this next time," he coos in the sweetest voice you've ever heard him use.
"did you think i'd stop you?"
"ummmm..."
you look side-ways towards the tree beside you before give him your honest response.
"weeeeell, i thought you'd tell me it'd be too late into the night to do something like this and that i wouldn't be able to wake up if i stay up star-hunting."
kuroo chuckles, petting your head lightly with that big hand of his
"things like this are exceptions."
your eyes light up to his words. he has officially announced the permit to stay up searching for shooting stars that you adore a lot. it makes you very happy that you smile back warmly.
"thank you, tetsurou," you sigh, leaning into his chest comfortably.
"it's nothing, y/n."
he continues to stroke your hair in a soothing way as he maintains that genuine smile on his lips.
"just bring a jacket next time, or star-hunting will be off-limits."

"on caffeine."
pairings: kenma kozume x reader
genre: fluff
a/n: i felt a little kenma today, so this one is a little more "spaced-out" or just "randomly-torn-out-from-the-notebook" kind of feel if you get what i mean... anyways, enjoy! :) (i'm a little surprised that there were some people who liked my last fanfiction i wrote lol)
"kyanmaaaaaa?!" kuroo screams.
kuroo currently stands in the doorway of kenma's room, eying the see-through containers on the floor. they're obviously coffee jugs used to fill up coffee in the coffee machine.
you sit beside kenma, watching him trying to beat the difficult level of the game repeatedly as he quickly chugs the content of another coffee jug. his eyes are glued to the screen, focusing on every action of his small character, who is jumping and dodging about in order to evade the fire pellets spat out from a plant-looking monster sitting on the right side of the screen.
at this moment, kuroo scrambles over to the computer and forcefully turns off the pc system by jabbing the power off button on the screen forcefully. the screen instantly blinks into a pitch-black, making you and kenma look at kuroo incredulously.
"kuro! we were about to beat that boss!" you whine angrily, looking back at the now dark screen.
kuroo doesn't care though. instead, he swipes away the coffee jug that kenma is about to take another swig from and collects the remaining jugs from the floor.
"both of your eyes need a break," he lectures, wearing a stern expression.
"you two have been superglued to that computer since high school started like glitter glued to paper."
"kuro, at least we do what we're supposed to," kenma retorts, his eyebrows furrowing into a mad frown.
kuroo frowns back.
"cut the lies, kenken. you've been skipping meals with n/n and you know it. you two can't survive off of caffeine, tannin, xanthine, or any of that shit. you two are literal coffee addicts."
"ahem, it's not me drinking the coffee?" you point out, mad at him about being accused of drinking coffee.
you watch the bedhair march towards the trash can and lift it up, showing you its contents that contains unhealthy sugary drinks. obviously, you were the only suspect who would drink them.
"well, n/n, if you're trying to live by eating glucose, then become a tree and photosynthesize. even plants do better than you."
with that, kuro places the jugs and trash can down on the carpeted floor. the next thing he does pisses you and kenma off. he checks the wiring behind the computer screen, unplugs the wire cable that is supposed to project anything that was inside the computer system, and pockets it.
the two of you stare at him in silence as he lifts up the things he placed on the ground and exits the room, closing the door behind him.
"goddAMMIT, TETSUROU!! GET THE FUCK BACK!!" you screech, rushing to the door.
"COME BACK YOU LITTLE- eh?"
you are taken by surprise as the doorknob won't even budge no matter how much you try to turn it.
with the help of kenma, you try other ways to bust the door open, like pulling the knob, pushing the door, and even slamming into it. every attempt you make is proven unsuccessful and you sink down onto your knees in exhaustion.
eventually, the two of you give up.
"looks like he stuck a knife in the door since he knew there's no lock on it," kenma states, peeking at the crack between the door and the door frame.
"and he knew he'd be dead as hell if he stole the cable for the computer," you sigh, plopping on the bed.
you live in the same apartment as kenma, but your room is down the hall and nothing connects it other than that hallway. because kuroo locked you inside, there's no way to even make an escape down the hall.
"damn it, that sly feline..."
"maybe, we play games on your phone?" suggests kenma, his eyes looking hopeful.
you sit up excitedly.
"that's actually a great ide- wait, no. my phone's in my jacket, which is in the living room."
kenma exhales in despair.
"my phone isn't in my room, either. i left it in the kitchen, i think."
good grief, now both of your plans are ruined, unfortunately.
kenma plops onto the bed next to you, and you stare at the ceiling boringly with him.
"man, is there anything else we can do other than doing absolutely nothing?" you ask, closing your eyes.
kenma only shrugs, making you groan sadly.
now that you're fully aware of the room you're in, you begin to realize the chilly air surrounding you since you're wearing short-sleeves.
"i'm cold."
kenma notices you wrapping your arms around yourself and the slight shivering of your body. if he had been wearing his nekoma jacket, he'd lend that to you. however, he isn't wearing it, and he was too lazy to get up and take a walk to the closet and back just to get the jacket.
he takes a moment to examine the soft and fluffy covers that both of you are currently laying on before lifting it up, making a hole that's enough for him to slip in.
he holds the blanket cavern open and looks at you, which you understand without him speaking. you fit yourself inside the covers with your body squeezing against his as kenma closes the entrance to the cavern to your shoulders.
with the covers enclosing kenma's warmth around you, you feel a sense of security.
the feeling that everything is going to be alright.
kenma usually isn't that inviting though. deep inside you know it. he's usually reserved and he doesn't really give a crap to kuroo. he usually doesn't really care for you, too, even though you're his best friend.
maybe it's because of the caffeine that kenma is willing to give you such an intimate opportunity. he usually doesn't get too hyper when he drinks coffee, but he's usually a little more welcome and emotional after consumption.
but, that doesn't matter now.
you feel the soft feeling of an arm wrap around your shoulders, and a small push that makes the side of your face lean against his chest.
there, you experience the soothing sound of his heartbeat pumping at a steady pace ever so peacefully.
"i guess staying like this while not having video games is not that bad," kenma points out. "even though it'd be better with video games though."
you are about to agree with him out loud, but a light drift of exhaustion takes over you. your thoughts become fuzzy and your eyelids gradually close.
there was nothing you could do, other than to agree with him silently as you drift off into a peaceful slumber.
nothing can be ever so inviting without him by your side.
suddenly, you get jolted awake by the clack of a doorknob. although your vision is still blurry, you are still able to see.
a crack of light shines into the dark room from the door as you hear someone sing in a low voice, "kenkeeeeeeeeen... n/nnnnn-"
but, the singing gets cut off and before you know it, you realize it's kuroo who has just come into the room, staring silently at you and kenma on the bed in a cuddling position.
he blinks at you.
you blink back at him. and then, you start clearing your throat, trying to resolve the embarrassing scene.
"ahem. kuro. i can explain."

"on that april day."
pairings: tetsurou kuroo x reader
genre: fluff
note: school starts in april for japan, and i thought i'd make a fanfiction about the day before school starts for tetsurou and you, as the reader!
a/n: this is my first time writing a short fanficition like this! if there are any suggestions on how i can improve, please please PLEASE let me know!
you've always been a ball of sunshine, running around like a cat at play when days are well. no matter if it's raining or cloudy, you'd always manage to find a way to light up the world.
she's not lively, kuroo would note to himself when it comes to thinking about the choice of words to describe you.
she's radiant.
she's the sun to the solar system.
she's the greatest star.
she's radiant.
in this particular morning, however, you wake up later than usual. it gets so late that kuroo has come into your apartment room to wake you up.
"oi, (y/n), time to wake up," he beckons, shaking you on your sheet-covered shoulder.
after a few more shakes, you finally manage to get shaken awake. reluctantly, you lift yourself up from your warm covers and rub your eyes sleepily.
"how long have i've been asleep?" you mumble in a tired tone, but distinct enough for kuroo to understand.
"it's past 8 in the morning already," he replies, not pleased with you sleeping in.
instead of panicking about the time, you return to your comfy covers.
"just 5 more minutes, tetsu..."
kuroo doesn't take that as an excuse. he uncovers your blankets and pulls you up, looking at your face and your clothing. swollen dark bags are visible under your eyes and you are still in your casual outdoor clothing from yesterday. he inhales for a few seconds, closing his eyes slowly before opening them back up while exhaling.
"i knew it. something happened."
"no, nothing happened, okay?" you reassure, putting a smile onto your lips.
but, kuroo doesn't buy it.
"no need to deny it. you're obviously hiding something."
you notice that kuroo is serious. he isn't wearing that playful smirk he usually does, but it's a stern frown that covers his features.
that frown can only be described as not scary, but intimidating. it's the first time he's ever been that serious towards you.
the two of you keep staring at each other for a good long while. you finally sigh and shift your position to the side of the bed, letting your legs dangle off the edge. without invitation, kuroo sits right beside you. his warmth calms you, encouraging you to spill the truth.
"i can keep up the silence all day since the folks say peace and quiet considered therapy," you say, trying to fill up the atmosphere with a bit of humor.
kuroo's lips curl into a smile, so you take that as a win.
"but that'd just haul up your and my time, so might as well just spill it."
there's a pause of silence as you try to regain your thoughts in order to convey your feelings.
"yesterday, i didn't sleep well. and it normally doesn't happen to me. but i was worried about tomorrow, like after today. you're all grown up, and i can't believe you're already going to college after all this time..."
a sharp inhale of breath interrupts your words, followed by a small tear rolling down your cheek.
"(y/n)-"
kuroo is taken aback by your reaction and his face becomes twisted with worry.
you're never the type to cry in front of others.
you continue to speak, unable to hold back the trembling and cracking of your voice in between.
"i thought that i can survive my third year without you during my two years in high school. but, yesterday, after i thought it through, i was doubtful about that..."
your speech gets swallowed up by your sobs, which are increasing in volume by every second.
"breathe, (y/n)," he tells you, patting your back in a friendly way.
you nod and begin sniffing away the sadness. soon, the tears stop streaming that much, but you're still crying a little.
unexpectedly, kuroo pulls you into a gentle embrace, enveloping his warmth around you. although surprised, you slowly wrap your arms around his back in response and bury your head into his shoulder. you can smell the faint scent of the cedarwood soap he uses to shower, but everything else smells exactly like kuroo.
"(y/n), you're a strong and tough girl. don't let that get you down, okay?" kuroo whispers in your ear in a soothing way, patting your head lightly.
after a while, the two of you pull apart from the hug, revealing a wet circle on his grey shirt and your tear-stained face. he gently caresses your cheek with that big hand of his and wipes away the remaining tears with his thumb.
"i know we're very good friends, but we have to be separated sometime in life. but, it's not forever."
he suddenly pauses, and the next thing you know catches you off guard.
as abruptly as it may seem, kuroo pulls you back in, brushing his lips against yours before pressing you with great certainty.
a warm feeling rushes inside you. it felt like it was mixed with reassurance, comfort, and another feeling you are unable to make out.
it isn't until after a few seconds that he leans back from the kiss and smiles genuinely at you.
"i want you to know that i love you. even if we're not together, we're still connected in a way that's unbreakable. so, i want you to endure your last year in nekoma. it may seem long, but you will get over with it eventually, okay?"
your face was originally in a shocked expression with a slight red tint dusted on your cheeks. however, those words make you feel much better and all of your worries go away. you place back that bright smile of yours onto your face and giggle cheerfully, maintaining the red color on your cheeks.
"okay, tetsu! just promise that you'll make sure you make time to video call me on LINE."
seeing that you've returned to your usual demeanor, he sighs in relief with a bashful smile.
"yeah, that might not happen every day if i have a lot of studying to do in college."
"eh? really? then, promise me you'll treat me to that fancy buffet down the street when you come back!"
"(y/n)! do i really need to promise you that?!"
eventually, you two agreed to swing by that nearby konbini to get some snacks for today (due to the fact that you two didn't eat breakfast during the morning).
you knew that deep down inside your heart, you will never forget about this pleasant april day.
