Please help me save my friend. I always admired Oleg's resilience and unstoppable commitment to helping others. Since fleeing Russia, he has been tirelessly working to help people who fled political persecution, like him, or war. Mostly for free. Even now, when he's constantly malnourished because of not having enough money for food, he keeps a vegan diet out of his care for animals. But now he's in a desperate situation. He still can't work because he can't use his laptop without glasses for which he needs 550 USD. He also needs to pay 350 USD for rent in a week. And recently he went a week without ANY food which scared me shitless. I try to help him out with money whenever I can, but my finances are scarce, I even have to take loans. Oleg also needs to buy meds and pay for utilities, in total it comes to 1000 USD for two mouths plus 550 USD for glasses. So far, we've only collected about 5 USD out of that. This fundraiser is for my friend, a fellow Russian activist in exile. I'm terrified that I'll have to remember him on the next Transgender Day of Remembrance, and I am starting this fundraiser, hoping your support will help avoid it.

Please help a trans and anti-war activist in a critical situation.

In early 2022, Oleg was involved in anti-war activism, which led to his detention, torture at the hands of police, and a criminal case against him. After fleeing Russia, he continued his activism, supporting Russian political prisoners and queer people, and Ukrainian refugees. He’s still helping others today.

In September, his employer refused to pay him, leaving him homeless and in debt to his landlord, which led to a suicide attempt.

Oleg has PTSD, ADHD, ASD, chronic insomnia, and lupus, an autoimmune disease that causes pain and fatigue. These conditions, combined with homelessness, have made his life unbearable. He also had to detransition due to being unable to afford HRT, adding to his mental and physical health issues. On top of everything, his glasses recently broke, so now he needs new ones to use his laptop for job searching and freelancing, but he can't afford them.

While trying to get back on his feet, he took underpaid jobs in hospitality and construction that were often exploitative, with one employer even sexually assaulting him. These experiences have severely impacted his mental health. In the past three months, Oleg was hospitalized twice for suicide attempts, his gastrointestinal health was damaged, and he can’t afford the medication he needs to recover. Here’s where I want to ask for your help.

Oleg needs 1000 USD, which should be enough to cover his medical and living expenses for about two months and allow him to commit to a search for a stable job. And an additional 550 USD for new glasses. Oleg was hoping to receive this money from an NGO that provides help to queer people in situations such as his, but with the recent cut of USAID, there's no certainty it will happen.

1550 USD is a significant amount of money for both Oleg and me. I don’t know if we will be able to raise the entire amount. Honestly, it terrifies me a lot. But not as much as it terrifies Oleg. And he’s very scared now, he doesn’t say it outright, but I know.
