Hiii I’m on Mac and have been so jealous of everyone else using Reshade for so long so I’m crazy excited to learn it’s possible to get it to work on MacOS. Is there a guide somewhere on how to do that?? Tysm 💜
Hi!
I know your struggle too well. However, there is a way around it. (Sort of.)
My Mac doesn't have an Intel processor (but Silicon) so I can't use Bootcamp to install Windows which, as I researched, would be the smoothest way to do it (gameplay wise). My other two options were:
Installing a Windows VM such as Parallels which proved to be lagging quite a bit and only loads the game with a minimal amount of custom content (waste of money, at least for gaming purposes).
Installing Crossover which installs Windows software onto your Mac and that's what I've been using. You install Sims on it and with that Reshade. (You basically end up with two Sims games on your computer so it's a bit storage heavy. I'm sure there is a way to keep only one game, but I don't want to delete the MacOS one, just for safekeeping.)
Once you install the Sims through the Crossover or, in my case, EA Play app, it's time to install Reshade. It's explained here. I followed it word for word and it worked for me. The author doesn't mention it, but I manually created Texture/Shader folders and chose a path when you load Reshade in the Sims for the first time. The Crossover is way better that Parallels, but it does glitch/crash sometimes and fps are not as high as when you play the game directly on MacOS. I use Crossover for gameplay when I want to do some screenshots and regular MacOS game for building and CAS 'cause it does run smooth (and won't crash and erase all the building I did.) My computer is iMac M3, 24gb RAM.
In the end, there is a way around it, but it will never run as smooth as when it's played directly on the MacOS and no middle man.
This is what worked for me, every computer is different. Best of luck! 😅
P.S. Let us all keep hoping there would be a MacOS Reshade version in the near future. I would help finance it.

Hi! Just curious, do you know what CAS background you are using that makes it so your Sim has a shadow under their feet? I have been searching for one like this but I am unable to find it. If you don’t know too that’s okay, have a wonderful day ♥️
Hello! 🧡 It's a combination of Luumiasims' solid white CAS background and SimplyAnjuta's neutral light CAS lighting.
Hope this helps!

hi! Do you have a photography account? Would love to follow since I love your sims posts as well! You truly have an eye for capturing gorgeous moments
Thank you so much! I do have a presence of such kind online, but my intention has always been keeping the simblr completely separate from my real name. I hope you understand. 😅
