In mine and many other east Asian cultures, the dragon traditionally symbolises things like power, wealth and strength (imperial symbol and all)

I think we often forget that in the story of the Great Race, the dragon came in fifth because it'd stopped to give people rain. Then it'd stopped again to push a rabbit adrift on a log across the wide river so it reached the shore safely (that's why the Rabbit year comes before the Dragon).

Dragons aren't meant to just be powerful - they are meant to do good with such power, and to help those in need.

So in this lunar new year, I hope you gain more power, so that you might be able to help others. I pray you have abundant resources so you may give to yourself and those around you. I wish you courage, endurance, kindness and generosity, for yourself and your people.

I hope you, and I, will be rain givers, life preservers, joy bringers.

I hope we will be dragons.

I am beyond proud of these kids for standing up and saying what it right when most adults remain silent. When will it be enough to affect a change? I know there are a lot of you that are for the right to bear arms. I am not trying to start a war about this but I would like to know how you can look at a tragedy like this and still think nothing needs to be done. I am not saying that all guns should be banned but assault rifles or anything that is a rapid fire weapon has no business being legal. When our forefathers wrote the constitution they did not have modern day weapons in mind. I can guarantee they would not be ok with what is going on in our society. Please stop hiding behind the constitution with this argument. None of us have any idea the terror these kids have faced. Because of one selfish act 17 lives were lost and hundreds of innocent people have had their lives forever changed. It is incredibly easy to have a pro any style gun opinion when you have never been in a situation like this. Our kids deserve to be able to go to school and be safe. We deserve to be able to go to work and be safe. We ALL deserve to be able to live our lives and not have to worry about being gunned down for absolutely no reason. Lives matter more then the right to bear arms. Enough is enough I am so proud of all of these children for standing up and speaking up in the face of such tragedy. I pray these kids will be the voice of the future and will be able to effect real change. I am so proud of this young lady for standing up and fighting for a better future for us all.    If i find the full video of this brave girls speech i will be posting it. Her voice deserves to be heard.
