heyyyy, I’m so so so sorry for disappearing, I have like 5 wips I wanna post and no motivation… so uhh, have something short to get me back to writing (also hoping everyone who wanted phai got him!!)

You’ve been in that position for at least half an hour now. His head on your thighs while you play with his hair. He looked so peaceful with his eyes closed and hands resting on his chest, slowly rising and falling. For a moment you were sure he’d already fallen asleep.

“You remind me of the clouds, you know” is what breaks the silence. Your fingers halt for a moment, before making another one of the countless small braids. It’s just yours musings, after all, and you don’t expect an answer.

“I like them.”

There’s a moment of stillness before Phainon stirs, before looking up at you with those pretty eyes of his. Those beautiful eyes of the sky. You expect him to start rambling about those white fluffy balls floating high above your heads, but you how his innocent smile turns into a teasing grin and you know what to expect. Or so you think.

“It’s because of my hair, right?” you only nod at that.

“So…” he pauses for a moment, as if unsure, but you know him well enough to recognise that he’s just trying to keep you in suspense. “Does that mean that you like me, too?”

Your throat goes dry. You swallow hard, loud. It’s not a question you expected. The silence gets so uncomfortably deafening, you only hear your heart pounding in your chest. But then you remember something he’d told you a while ago; “why wouldn’t we hang out? We’re friends after all, and I do enjoy your presence!”

It’s not like that. He’s not asking for a confession.

“Yeah. Of course, I do” you just smile meekly at his heartfelt laugh, your fingertips grazing his cheek.

As much as his hair does feel like a real cloud, it’s not the reason of analogy.

The clouds are so beautiful, and yet forever out of reach.

Mydeimos, the crown prince of Castrum Kremnos, one of the Chrysos Heirs, your lover and… apparently a heartless man. You scoff at the idea. Sure, he may be a merciless warrior when it comes to striking down his opponents, but he is not ruthless. Especially with those he holds dear.

You can’t really recall when those rumours spread; suddenly, people of Okhema started thinking your boyfriend (extremely kind, in your humble opinion) was cruel. You were obviously first to deny that, but who’d believe you? It’s not like you could just walk up to a bunch of citizens and tell them “you’re all wrong!” They’d probably laugh at you. How could a random person know the Mydei so well? Oh, if only they knew…

But, as kind and benevolent you are, you decided to keep your promise and not tell the public about your relationship. Even if your powerlessness to those rumours made your blood boil and your fists clench.

When asked how he felt about them, Mydei at first pretended to be surprised. But you knew better than to believe in his act. “Don’t worry about that, their words shouldn’t be worrying you. Rumours always die out sooner or later, just like a fire. Pay them no mind, [Name].” Easier said than done, is what you thought to yourself. But he was right, as much as you hated to admit.

If you could speak up and defend him from all those terrible allegations, you’d tell them how he’s a fighter for the sake of protecting those who he holds close, how he always cooks the most delicious food for you, how he lets you do his hair when you had a bad day, how sweet he is with children, and how surprisingly gentle he truly is.

But, sometimes you think to yourself, maybe it’s better if only you get to see that side of Mydei, reserved just for you ♡

a/n: aaaaaaaaa I’m so so so sorry this is so late, I completely forgot about it >< btw I almost finished 3.1 and oof… this guy grew on me A LOT (there’s something about men who have rough hands, but a firm and gentle hold…)

Soft skin meets porcelain. Warmth lands onto that cold body of his. It’s weird, but somehow, he feels welcomed. With every motion of his hands, you feel like you’re about to be devoured. There’s something endearing in that, though. How gentle he is, yet also bold. It earns a chuckle from you.

When that freezing feeling reaches a certain spot, you shudder. He stops. Eyes laced with worry meet yours. A silent reminder of care. “It’s fine, you can go on” and so he does. Your hands wrap around his waist, to steady yourself. Uneven breaths tickle his neck, you never feel his. It’s all so eerie.

He leans in, beautiful eyes staring at you, with that pleading expression you rarely see. You let him, eagerly welcoming that sweet feeling of his lips on yours. It’s the only time you feel his body heat. Deeper and deeper, he ventures, as if you’re some unknown land. Hands roam, with so much devotion even the quietest whispers can’t convey.

For a moment, there’s no friction between you. That human body of yours yearns for more, but patiently waits for the puppet’s choice. With that smile, you seem like a god in his eyes. A god he once tried to be, a goal he hoped to achieve with so much effort put, and so little practice of how to be one. You didn’t need it; you don’t need a gnosis, a perfect body (which you do have, in his humble opinion), a whole palace meant for you, you don’t need anything at all. Just one follower who’d die for your happiness - that is, him. How ironic; faithful followers is what he needed the most (even if he saw them as pests), and now he is that, which he hated the most - someone in love.

Warm skin melts with porcelain, like a candle. Two people turn into one in a dance of gentle love and passion. “Happy birthday. I love you always, and forever. Remember that, okay?” He loved you twice as much.

sitting on the floor of his room (in alhaitham’s house), his back turned to you as you comb through his golden hair. nimble fingers swiftly doing a braid and clipping it carefully, not to pull any hair strands (you don’t want to hurt him or mess up the hairstyle and redo the whole thing. it’s a long process.)

you’ve learned how to style his hair by heart; after all, seeing him do it himself so many times, looking so pretty and focused (and kissable) helped you a lot. and anyways, what kind of lover you’d be if you didn't? a heartless one, that’s for sure.

this became part of your daily routine: you wake up early, go to alhaitham’s kaveh’s place, say hi to althaitham as he opens the door for you, wake kaveh up with a kiss on his forehead and a soft good morning whispered, watch him eat his breakfast and get ready, and then - finally, sit down together and do his hair.

in moments like these (when he’s not in a sleepy state of mind anymore), he usually talks about what happened the day before, but also anything else that comes up to mind! like annoying clients he already mentioned twice (you never really mind, you just love listening to the sound of his voice, although sometimes you’ll ask questions which hint that you already know the story), some lucky accidents that might have occurred recently, someone from akademiya asking him for advice, or a rather annoying scribe who’s (in kaveh’s opinion) too lazy to still legally have his job. that always makes you chuckle under your breath.

and when you’re done, you admire your work, stand up and give your lovely (and lively) boyfriend three kisses - one on the left cheek, second on the other, and the final - on his lips. you always adore how shy he gets afterwards, no matter how many times you’ve done that. (you also enjoy seeing him lean forward in search for something more, not just a quick peck, but a long kiss full of love. you sometimes indulge him and do so, even if he might be late to a meeting.)

Waking up everyday to the sight of your lover cuddling into you is probably the best thing that has ever happened to you. The warm light shining down onto you two through the curtains, the quiet morning with no sound of alarm ringing.

You blink once, twice, to wake your eyes up. When your vision finally stops being blurry from your sleep, you register something - a bunch of messy blond locks stuffed into your face. It smells nice and it’s fluffy, sure, but it really tickles your cheeks. You try to wriggle out of this weird position you’re in, only to be yanked back into your place by a hand

“Good morning…?” you whisper, somehow unsure if the one next to you is awake (as if what just happened wasn’t the proof).

“No” Aventurine mumbles and leans into your touch more, as if you were about to disappear into thin air. You chuckle quietly at this and prop yourself up on your free arm to kiss his cheek. You notice how a faint smile creeps its way onto his lips, yet his eyes are still closed - as if trying to fool you into believing that he’s asleep (you both know he’s now 100% awake).

“Wake up, sun’s already up” you try again and earn a quiet groan from the man. He shifts under the duvet, his golden hair disappearing and reappearing moments later. This time he’s facing you, eyes squinted to let in as little light as possible. You smile; his eyes are one of your favourite things to look at, and to see him in a situation like that is a sight to behold.

“That doesn’t mean we need to as well, does it?” Before you can answer, he adds “besides, it’s comfy in here. And you can’t argue, it is rare for us to be able to wake up like this, together. You could reward me on my day off and let me sleep longer, [Name].”

For a moment, you’re not sure what answer to come up with - after all, he is right. Situations like these don’t happen often and you should savour them as much as you can. But not when it’s… wait, what system time exactly is it?

Before you manage to even turn around to check, Aventurine cups your cheek and stares at you with so much intensity behind those pretty eyes of his, as if his life depended on it. (Quite funny how it’s just another morning; nothing less, nothing more.)

“Don’t. Just, focus on me right now. You’re not in a rush, so why the hurry?” Something in his voice stops you in your tracks, and for a split second you’re just staring at him with wide eyes. He chuckles at that expression, bringing you closer to him and kissing your forehead. You melt into that warmth, suddenly hyperaware of your surroundings, of the sun’s rays you don’t really want to accept yet, of the comfortable position you found yourself in, of the softness of Aventurine’s lips, and most importantly, of Aventurine himself.

You sigh, half in defeat, half in relief, as you slide one of your hands underneath the silky fabric of his shirt and placing it on his bare back, cold fingers meeting warm skin. He shivers just slightly, but doesn’t push you away. Instead, he leans in closer, chin resting atop your head.

You move in a little, until your lips are mere inches away from his neck and your breath’s tickling him. You place a kiss on that burn mark, the commodity code that stings, yet the blonde sighs at that feeling, as if content.

“You smell nice” you manage to whisper into his skin before drifting back to the dreamland, this time in your lover’s gentle embrace.

so imagine, sunday boarding the astral express, to see the universe in a new light, to have a fresh perspective on things, to try and change the way he views himself. he lets himself loose a little, his body less stiff as he lets his guard down around the crew (that is, including you). he doesn’t try to smile all the time, doesn’t try to control his body as much as he did in the past, his halo glowing more or less depending on his mood and his wings… twitching from time to time. as the head of the oak family, he had to be composed at all times and never let his facade slip. but now, as just another traveler wondering through the cosmos, he’s free of all the responsibilities. as he grew accustomed to this new life the astral express has offered him, you began to notice tiny changes in his behaviour. those were details, really, but you couldn’t help yourself but smile whenever you looked at him. he seemed more alive, now that he was out of his cage. his eyes look liked two shining suns, instead of cold gold, smile less forced, steps unsure, but more free. and your favourite part; his wings. they would always flutter when he laughed, and you prayed to akivili that he’d never learn about this, only so you could see that sight more often. sometimes, when talking to someone (especially you), that same thing would happen again. and you had to try your best not to crack a laugh, because how could he be so adorable without even realising that? it felt like you were staring at a very cute dog wagging its tail whenever you approached it. another detail you almost missed - his sweet tooth. whenever pom-pom said something about desserts, a spark would ignite in the halovian’s eyes, barely noticeable. every time he’d get a taste of that sweetness he so seemed to love, he’d look like a giddy child. the way he smiled, you just wanted to grab him and kiss his lips. how could someone be so cute and unaware of that charm?
