Leyndell, the Golden Capital nestled among the grand peaks of the Atlus Plateau is the home of Marika, the Elden Lord, and her demigod children. The city is often a subject of speculation and muse among those across the Lands Between in both song and story. Many would dream to have a glimpse of it and bask in the Golden Order’s blessing. 

Visitors were only permitted to enter on political matters. Pure sightseeing was a foreign concept to at least one of the demigods. They may admire the city’s splendor from the villages.

Malenia turns at the sound of the unfamiliar voice. Locking eyes upon the stranger, she finds herself at a loss. Examining his person and rummaging through her memory, she has little inkling of who stands before her. News would have reached her well in advance. Her brother would also be quick to alert her. She narrows her eyes ever so slightly.

“State your business.”

There is an essential point that needs to be kept in mind: Miquella is a child. He is cursed to remain a child, both physically and mentally for the rest of his life. While he and Malenia are both prodigies, with him clearly being the brains with his talents in incantations and seemingly savvy with grasping how the world works pretty well. However, his naïveté is what causes his downfall.

When drawing from his motives and actions from the DLC, it really also makes Malenia's case much more tragic. Miquella is the older twin who Malenia very much admires and respects from childhood to adulthood. Unfortunately, Miquella didn't grow up with her due to his curse which causes that same clever elder brother to remain stagnant in age and mentality. He's stuck and behind while Malenia has grown up well beyond him. Given also that Malenia's deterioating, it's like she's clinging onto the last bit of hope she has left even though it's not necessarily something that quite fits with her anymore since she's grown up. Miquella patching her up is delaying the inevitable while he is simply stuck.

It really also puts into perspective, is this truly what is "love"? Rather, what is the extent of his love?

I strongly believe he cares deeply about her, but when Ansbach commented about how he thinks Miquella fails to grasp the implication of what he did with Mohg, it makes me wonder if he lacks that level of understanding for what he does for Malenia too.

Hi there and welcome! This is an independent roleplay/fanfic, low-activity blog for Malenia, Blade of Miquella from Elden Ring created by FromSoftware in collaboration with George R. R. Martin. I also incorporate details from the DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree. I do not own any rights to this character and have no association with FromSoftware. I do not own any rights to any images unless stated otherwise. However, I have rights to my writing. I will do my best to credit commissions. I am not affiliated with any RPC. While I am aware there is a questionable segment with Miquella, Mohg, and Radahn in the lore, I do not endorse it and I am not interested in exploring it any further than what is presented in Mohg’s Remembrance description. I also will not be writing with any Miquella roleplayers as I simply do not wish to write with child characters.

// Some thoughts among a handful regarding Shadow of the Erdtree (spoilers ahead):

The Shadow of the Erdtree story trailer shows Marika not how she’s portrayed as statues with her chest just completely out there. There’s also the thing with “...and so, too, is shadow born”. I’m thinking when she forged gold was when Radagon also came into being and split. I think this is also how Miquella (and most likely Malenia too), is privy to his parents' origins and prior details. I see him as both her shadow, so to speak, but he, ironically, winds up upholding the Golden Order, something that Marika initiated and expected to do. This switches them and places Marika as the “shadow” because she eventually goes against the Golden Order.

So, too, does Malenia stand several paces before the knight. She glances from head to toe, surmising that he may be in the company of knights affiliated with the Dragon Cult. Perhaps their leadership had met with her brother. And perhaps they had taken a brief recess and were permitted to explore the Capital. Surely, however, they would travel with at least one other within their company. So, she would assume. 

Still, Malenia stares at this particular knight with peculiarities in his possession. How he stands before her with no sword, spear, or even shield. In his possession were flowers encased in a stone-like, opaque resin; which she has found herself surprised at how well they remain erect given the notable contrasts in the stems’ and blossom’s structures. In another hand is a decadent box, one that she speculates to contain confectionaries; though the designs she could not discern if the box was acquired within Leyndell.

A stiff silence freezes over them. His lips remain locked as his gaze upon her still. 

Malenia had no intention of prolonging it.

“If you seek my brother, you will not find him in this part of the city.”
