Everyone is assuming Izzy is training Stede in those scenes in the trailer, but what if that's not it at all? What if Stede clocks that guy and then dials up his excitement because he knows it pisses Izzy off and he's just being a bitch?
What if the shirtless candle-whipping is just some weirdass macho coughgaycough bullshit thing Izzy does, and Stede is there to talk to him about something else entirely. Like "sorry to interrupt whatever this is but the crew told me this funny thing about how Ed was doing better until you went into his cabin and I just wondered if there was anything you want to fill me in on" while smiling really big and fucking around with a gun.
