"Ah, no matter. I've said too much, already." With a small huff, Colress concluded, "The point is that science is far too important to be forgotten or disregarded. Scientific knowledge should always be sought after, regardless of the situation."
Barry just looked at the man in utter confusion.
“…. Okay you had me again, and then you lost me again.”

"Is that so?" Colress asked, suddenly leagues more intent on Lucas. With a faint smile, Colress added Lucas to his notes, hopeful that he would be the perfect subject to further reinforce the flimsy correlations of his most recent hypothesis.
"Wonderful! I can see how ambitious you are upon mere observation," he mused. "Tell me, what compells you to do this? Pokemon are far too powerful to be studied on a whim of curiosity."
Scientastic! [Open]
Lucas blinked at the question. Was he offering something…? Research? Or maybe he was one of those odd male escorts his dear Professor Rowan told him to be wary of.
Rowan’s words echoed in his mind, ‘Now’s not the time for that, Lucas. Stranger danger!’ Of course, this was the same Professor that had mistaught him the ways of copulation. Feeling a bit adventures, Lucas nodded.
“Oh, yes, very much! I love researching Pokemon,” He smiled, “It’s one of my passions. I’m going to be a Professor some day!”

"Things become drastically different from each other the more you build upon matter," Colress said, perking up at the mention of Infernape. "On that deep metaphysical level, everything the same. Even slightly further above, objects very too much to be rationally distinguished as one--so it is only natural that not everything in the universe looks, acts, and functions the same way."
“But… wha.. but.. how? I mean we can’t all be made out of the same stuff. My infernape burnie is constantly on fire. For him, it’s just how he was born, for me, it would hurt…. a lot. Plus ground dosen’t really talk… or move.. or anything.. It’s just ground, super cool trap doors non withstanding. “

"Pokemon and humans are no exception," Colress said, pleased. "Anything that takes up space is matter--so in a metaphysical sense, we are no different from Pokemon, nor the ground we walk on."
“…….” Barry was entirely lost after objects are composed of matter “But wait if objects are matter… then what are humans and pokemon? Are things that come from pokemon, poop, pee, leaves, hair, etc, matter or are they something else? ” Barry clutched his head in frustration

"Wonderful," Colress chimed. "It's not often that opportunities like this present themselves. You've made a wise decision."
Completely disregarding his notes and Leaf's distrustfulness, Colress continued, "For the best results in the least amount of time, I would need to examine the Pokemon you feel you share the strongest bond with."
Scientastic! [Open]
Leaf was getting a bit irritated with the extensive amount of notes this guy was taking. She still didn’t even know his name and he didn’t know hers. “Fine,” she said after a slight stare-down. “But only for a little bit.” She was still suspicious of him.

Colress sighed. "Objects are composed of matter, so depending on how far you choose break down an object when perceiving it in a scenario such as this, all objects could be the same. Since his can be done with--theoretically--anything, it suggests that everything is intertwined through this common factor. Because everything is matter, one could argue that everything is also science since matter is a scientific construct."
“…….you lost me after depending on”

hey qt who do you ship colress with?
(( hsdjskah oh my gosh you are too sweet!!!!!! (ノ*゜▽゜*)
In regards to the canon, I ship him with science no one. He’s like the modern Sherlock Holmes of Pokemon—so devoted to his research that he doesn’t care about anything else, especially other people. Only he’s on an even more intense scale of Holmes, considering how he--uh--put millions of lives at stake without even batting an eyelash just because it was something to advance his research. Also, not to mention the fact that he so sporadically unempathetic and manipulative to every person he came into contact with in-game.
My point is, it feels ridiculously out of character for Colress to be in any sort of relationship. Maybe he’s tricked people into thinking that he cared about them in the past, but it really all comes down to science for him, hahaha~ o3o
If we COMPLETELY DISREGAURD THIS and ship him for the sake of shipping, then… it’s actually kind of the same deal for me. Oh gosh, I know I’m weird when it comes to shipping—even though I don’t ship him with anyone, I am 100% cool with people shipping Colress/anyone!!! I love it, I just don’t ship it myself. My only super-unpopular opinion on the matter is that Ghetsis/Colress or N/Colress is really creepy if you think about it, but I don’t dislike either pairing at all.
TL;DR = Colress/Science OTP but I love everyone~ ;O; <3 ))

"Essentially, yes, depending on how technical you wish to divulge into science's loose definition."
“Really…. did science create my underpants?”

"Oh?" Colress asked, raising his head to look at Leaf again. Fascinated, he took the time to input extensive notes on the matter into his research. "As I said, I am a scientist. My field research is for the sole purpose of expanding scientific knowledge. It would be a shame for such extraordinary secrets to remain hidden when the knowledge is so close to the surface--if you choose not to comply, of course."
Scientastic! [Open]
Leaf sensed suppressed excitement almost radiating off of this scientist, and she appraised him doubtfully. “You want to see my Pokemon? I don’t think so. I still basically have no clue who you are.” She adjusted her yellow bag, lifting it higher onto her shoulder and placing one hand on her hip.

Colress hoped that his perception had not previously been clouded as he watched the trainer. "So you are," he declared, reminding himself that anyone could prove useful under select circumstances. Silence fell upon the two as Colress added such notes to his research, tapping away at his tablet.
"I am testing a theory, conducting imperative research that will further excel our ability to understand Pokemon as a whole." Colress absently pushed up his glasses, studying Lucas with a professionally neutral expression. "Surely you would be thrilled to be involved with such ground-breaking research, yes?"
Scientastic! [Open]
Lucas gave a start as the strange man suddenly acknowledged him. He turned and gave him a nervous smile. It wasn’t common for anyone to really pick him out of a crowd; he seemed to blend in in almost every aspect, save his hat.
The usual, common, average Joe.
“Oh, pardon.” He squeaked instinctively. “Yes, I am, actually.”
Tumblr media
“M… may I ask why?” He said, starting with a large amount of interest at the other male’s… Unique… hair.

"Excellent," Colress said, proud that his assumptions were right about the girl. He had a good feeling that he would obtain valuable data from Leaf, and made note of her confidence as part of his data while trying to bar his excitement.
"Yes, that is correct. I'm trying to prove a hypothesis--for my research to be absolute, I need to collect data on many different experienced trainers." Smiling, Colress pressed, "I would be most ecstatic to be able to observe your Pokemon."
Scientastic! [Open]
Leaf didn’t try to be modest. “That’s because I am,” she replied, peering down at his screen. There was a bunch of letters and numbers on there, scientific formulas off to the side. Leaf didn’t try to decipher what they meant, yet she was a little curious as to what she had to do with this scientist guy.
“Why is that any of your concern, anyway?” she asked bluntly, eyes still narrowed. “There are plenty of other experienced Trainers in the world, and I’m no different.”

"I see." A faint smile appeared on his face as he tapped something into his tablet. Skipping over the menial details, he answered, "I'm a scientist, researching the bonds shared between trainers and their Pokemon."
Colress paused to pick Leaf apart with his sharp stare. "You seem quite experienced."
Scientastic! [Open]
Leaf glanced over at Colress, her eyes a bit bored. “Yeah, I’m a Pokemon trainer,” she replied, narrowing her eyes a little. She never really did trust strangers. She stared skeptically at his strange hairstyle, adjusting the bag slung around her shoulder.
“Who’re you?”

Scientastic! [Open]
Disengaged from the environment around him, Colress sat on a vacant bench, scrawling notes onto his tablet with Magnezone hovering at his side.
Being away from the laboratory was a definite way to make Colress antsy, but fieldwork didn’t do itself. The diverse selection of specimens littering the area satisfied him. However, he felt as though he was wasting his time, disappointed by the lack of Pokemon traveling alongside their trainers. Overtly baiting them by having his Magnezone glaringly visible earned him many glances, but did not seem to change anything.
Upon glancing up from his notes, he noticed a trainer with a different miasma about them--less chaos and more control. Perfect. Colress abandoned his station, deciding that it would be more worth his time to confront the confident trainer with a greater probability of having stronger bonds with their Pokemon, rather than observing the masses in disarray.
Tumblr media
"Excuse me. Might I be correct in assuming that you are a Pokemon trainer?"
