A new story! In a world where sea slugs and humans live side by side, two adventurers discover Molly Doris- a sea slug from 2 million years in the future. He joins them on their trek to Kennedy Space Center, facing harsh dangers along the way... perhaps not everyone is really cut out for the wilderness survival life?

heads up, and it's not like posting on this site was a priority for me already, but... there's lots of people and artists i like following here.

i've realized that tumblr as far as a social media platform goes is bad for me. when i scroll through the dashboard i see political posts. i see a lot of guilt-trippy posts. i see opinions and takes on morals.

and it's given me a bad mindset, and i became obsessed with having the Most Right Opinions on everything, which led me to some doomscrolling and looking up some really uncomfortable, distressing topics i really shouldn't have looked into. i've gotten into some arguments i didn't even have any standing to argue on, because i read some random opinion somewhere about something being morally bad. it wasn't my opinion, i've been absorbing all these opinions from total strangers i don't even know, and i barely care about these things, personally. even if it'd be good to know about, thoughts and prayers alone don't do a thing for improving the world.

being on this site isn't for us.

so i'm going to unfollow some if not all accounts. tumblr has RSS feed support, so i'm going to copy/paste a lot of urls onto my rss reader, where i can be much more selective with my timeline than when i scroll through tumblr.

i'll still see your art, mutuals. i'll see your words and comics and posts. i just won't be active on this site itself as much as i used to.

Exercises for all the homies who want to have a long career drawing.

The true problem with being an artist and drawing all day (as I wanted my whole life) is that human backs are not designed to hold that position, so it is very common for artists and designers to have really stiff shoulder blades, creating a chain of muscle strain towards the arm AND the back… and a lot of pain.

These are some physical exercises for artists and honestly anyone who works at a desk.

"What if you were cured?"

This is a question I get a lot, usually after sharing that I am deaf and I do not speak English. Deaf people get this in general. We've likely been asked this thousands of times in our lifetimes.

Most people treat it as a casual, sometimes playful question. Like it's something that would have a "why, yes, I'd love to be hearing!" answer. As if it's obvious that everyone who's ever deaf or disabled should simply choose to be abled. As if it's even remotely easy to get that kind of treatment, to simply learn a language you've never even heard, to simply have your ears altered to take on a small, artificial fraction of the full range of hearing people have.

I've been asked that question so much that it all sounds like "Why don't you just die?" to me.

I'm used to shrugging it off and I constantly educate people about deaf culture and accessibility and why these kinds of questions are wrong. Now, I'm surrounded by people who defend me if this is asked. It's a nice balm to the decades of isolation and pain I've been through, particularly when I rarely find any deaf people online or in person.

"everybody hates me" factoid actually just a statistical error. The average person doesn't hate you, especially not your friends. You, a person who sits in your room experiencing self loathing every day, are an outlier adn should not have been counted.

this is a niche one but instead of "they would not fuckin say that" it's "they would not fucking use American sign language".

ASL is not the only sign language. two british characters in your fanfiction would not be using ASL. England in fact has its own kind of sign language, BSL, that forms a sign family with many other sign languages around the world.

ASL isn't even the original member of its sign family, it comes from french sign language. do you know sign languages aren't related to spoken languages? that's an important one! it's not a direct 1:1 with people speaking English around the world. people in other countries don't learn ASL just in case they run into an usamerican or Canadian (who do often use it)

i know the entire world is the USA or whatever and sign languages do sometimes borrow from ASL for signs they don't have, but please be aware that there are other sign languages and families in the world that are not in fact ASL.
