Imagine a world where everybody has the knowledge tools to be well, successful and positively engaged in the world. It would elevate the levels of wisdom and effectiveness at which our entire species operates.Scott is here to help teach and deliver those tools. He does that with illustrated storytelling, helping people share their gifts with the world, their organization, clients, loved ones, and anyone else who they aim to lift up.Scott launched his illustration career in 1994, drawing cartoons and illustrations for publications of the Office of Research at the University of Guelph, where he also earned his honours B.A. Scott went on to work on the creative team at the safety communications company Creative Options for three years, and then moved on to a freelance career where he worked independently and led teams of artists to efficiently produce large numbers of high-quality illustrations on a tight schedule. Team projects included two graphic novels, a series of 260 illustrations for 3 publications by the Canadian Red Cross, and a series of eight whiteboard animations for the food security organization Feeding Nine Billion.Scott works in Guelph, Ontario, where he lives with his wife and dogs.

The Passing
This was one to those projects that compelled me to completion. I don't get that too often. My heart got involved, which always drives me to push the boundaries of my abilities and my expressive courage. I tend to candy colour everything so this was a good challenge in keeping everything as muted as possible in the background so that the spirit dog could appear to glow. I think this was my third colouring attempt.

#foodcrisis Back Cover
I designed this image, John Perlock, my main assistant on this project, inked it. We worked quite interchangably on rendering the artwork in this book. I'm particularly pleased with myself for the clever lettering design in the store's signage. The store is called "Food Oasis" and then the graffiti over the sign transforms it to say #foodcrisis.

Arctic Train
This is a full-page illustration, with room for titles and headlines and bullet points, for UpHere Business Magazine. The topic was about building a rail line to service the mining industry in Northern Canada. My goal was to make a shiny red train with that feeling of crisp cold frost on its hull.

Conversation
This is from a series of illustrations for a manual for people in plus/minus HIV relationships. Thankfully HIV has become a manageable disease, at least in Canada and other countries where effective treatment is accessible to everyone. The manual helps guide people with tools to live full and healthy lives.

Farley s Dogstronaut - nwtm
A buddy of mine designs dog parks. He asked me to make him this. The helmet is from the Mercury spacesuit, which is about as sci-fi as you can get in its original design!

Migration
The original layout and pencil drawing for this page were made by me. John Perlock, a great illustrator in his own right, assisted greatly in producing this book and was the inker of this image.

The Frozen Globes Awards
This was a full-page illustration for the award-winning magazine, UpHere Business, a publication about industry in North America's Northern communities. The ran an annual awards ceremony and likened it to the Golden Globes. So I put a glowing globe in there and made the illustrated lettering reference the Northern Lights, and calving glaciers.

COVID-19+Infographic+VER12b+HOZ+1000
I reached out to one of my favourite clients, Evan Fraser at the Arrell Food Institute, the University of Guelph, for help to create an infographic about COVID-19. I knew with his help I could make one with really relevant information about an under-noticed issue arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. What came of that was a great collaboration to create this unique infographic.
