Oh! I’m not very often on the Scott/Derek side of things, but I’m always game! This is probably more fluffy than hurt/comfort, but hopefully you enjoy :)

Scott had only recently become an alpha, and the power that surged through him was overwhelming. He ran through the Beacon Preserve, legs aching; still he pressed on. He felt a strong energy, like he’d downed every energy drink ever made. Scott couldn’t stay still.

His eyes darted back and forth as he heard twigs snap and leaves rustle close by. The red glow poured from his irises, fangs growing in his half-shifted form. He was taken off his feet suddenly, hitting the ground with a hard thump.

Scott let out a frustrated growl. He looked up at Derek and his heart beat wildly against his chest.

“You have to calm down, Scott. I know the power as an alpha is harder to control. You don’t want to do something you’ll regret,” Derek spoke evenly, but there was a caution to his words.

“You’re one to talk! When you were an alpha, it wasn’t long before you started biting helpless teenagers and picking fights with hunters. Don’t act like you’re some symbol of control,” Scott bit back with venom in his tone.

Derek sighed, “I never said I was, just that I understand what you’re feeling. Let me help. I know you don’t want anyone to get hurt.”

Scott growled low in his throat before letting out a frustrated huff, “Fine.”

Scott felt like he was starting from the beginning again. All of the control he’d learned wasn’t enough now. He wasn’t with Allison anymore, but he thought, even if he was, she wouldn’t be enough this time. Scott needed a real anchor. Stiles tried to help, but his attempts at pelting Scott with lacrosse balls weren’t cutting it either.

Derek was the only one making any progress. He taught Scott to control his breathing, channel his power rather than fight it, and command his pack.

“You’re going to do better than I ever did. They respect you. You’re a good leader,” Derek smiled over to him. Scott almost thought he was seeing things.

“I couldn’t have done it without you. You’re like.. you’re like my new anchor,” Scott hesitated on the words.

Derek scoffed lightly, surprising Scott, “Only you. Scott. Only you could constantly find an anchor in another person. You don’t need to. You’re your own anchor now.” He smiled fondly.

Scott could never figure Derek out. Just when he thought he knew who he was, he did something like this.

Scott never thought much through. He was made for action. However, he primarily lacked impulse control when it came to matters of the heart. Scott’s heart wasn’t just on his sleeve; it was pulling him around on a leash.

Maybe that’s why, when Derek gave him that caring smile and Scott saw how his green eyes shined, he leaned in and kissed him.

It was a hard kiss, full of confusion and realizations. Scott held Derek’s face firmly. Derek hesitated for a moment before wrapping his arms around the alpha’s waist.

When they finally parted, their eyes were locked to each other’s.

“Was that okay? Did I misread-” Scott started to question his judgment in retrospect.

“You didn’t misread anything,” Derek interjected, “I was just surprised.”

Scott wore his familiar lopsided grin, before leaning in again.
