Was shown this video in both group therapy and solo therapy and I figured it would make a good offering to Sobek, one of the many Gods associated with masculinity.

As a Kemetic pagan I believe embracing both masculinity and feminity (not in a Wiccan context) can contribute to upholding Ma'at.

It is a valid and human desire to procreate AND that same passionate energy can be put towards protecting, providing, upholding Ma'at, and fighting against isfet.

Spiritual Psychosis

this is regarding the normalisation of psychosis surrounding spirituality in social media.

as someone with Paranoid Schizophrenia, i’ve been wanting to say my piece on this for a while, but finding the right words and the motivation has prevented me from doing so. however, recent conversations about this with Tarm have given me the inspiration i needed to do this.

on certain social media platforms, there has been an influx of people over the past few years, believing things such as seeing ‘shadow people’ is just your ‘third eye being opened’, believing you can have relationships with deities or that they can speak to you, etc.

these things aren’t true.

my heritage is rooted in paganism, which i have embraced as i’ve grown up, and i am telling you these are not actual spiritual acts. if you are seeing things that aren’t there or if you believe there are gods in your head talking to you, i strongly advise you to seek the support of a doctor that is willing to help with psychotic symptoms.

it’s not normal or spiritual or anything to do with witchcraft to be having hallucinations and delusions such as these. there is definitely a community of people on social media who are at fault for normalising these things, and for telling impressionable, vulnerable people online that it’s a good thing spiritually for them to have these experiences. it not a spiritual gift. it is a strong sign of psychosis, and if this persists you likely have a psychotic disorder that must be treated.

if you engage in spirituality and you see someone say they experience things like these, do not tell them it’s a positive thing, point them in the direction of a mental health professional that can help.

Spirituality and Psychosis

Hello! I am a person who experiences hallucinations, but I also have a healthy spiritual life. This may raise the question: how do I differentiate actual signs and communication from the gods and other spiritual beings from hallucinations and delusions?

Here are a few rules I have established that may be useful for other people who struggle with this sort of thing:

~ gods do not take physical forms. they will not appear in your room or in your mirror. they also will not squeeze your hand or call your name

~ gods communicate using their specific symbols and signs (example: i notice the sun in my eyes a lot more often when apollo has something to say)

~ other than that, you should only communicate with your gods through some form of divination that you trust, whether that be tarot, dreams, throwing stones, runes, or anything else you like. be careful with scrying if you have visual hallucinations.

~ on the note of prayer, if your thoughts are sometimes so loud that you can't think properly, you may want to get a prayer journal. either a physical notebook, scraps of paper, your notes app, a google doc, or even a discord server with nobody in it. i especially like that method because it is private, you can access it anywhere on any device, you can make a channel for each deity, and you can look back on your past prayers.

~ your gods will not hurt you. they do not want to hurt or punish you. they will not leave bruises on your body or try to make you feel afraid or paranoid. if you are seeing things in the corners of your vision or feeling watched, it is not them. i recommend talking to a doctor/psychologist first, then maybe using some protection magic as an extra measure if it will make you feel more comfortable.
