I managed to fix some of the issues I was having with Spine, so I had another go at Che’nya! he’s a little more on-model now (the gradients really make all the difference) and has a much better rig, more eyes/hands, significantly improved meshes/weighting, and…slightly less janky animations. I like making rigs more than using them okay

some parts still look weird to me so I might keep poking at him. I like how he’s turning out though! (now watch, they’re going to drop him into a rhythmic or something and it’ll turn out I got him completely wrong. all that time agonizing over the gradients on his pants, wasted…)

I got really excited when I found out the twst chibis are apparently made in Spine, because hey! I can kinda use that!! so here’s the result of the last couple days’ attempts at reverse-engineering plus I might be trying to actualize a Che’nya card into existence shhh 

there’s a looooot of issues but I think he came out cute anyway! he is supposed to have the shadow but I ran up against alpha threshold, my old nemesis. this is what he looks like free of the shackles of gif compression:
