A place for anyone considering self injury recovery, in recovery, battling relapse, or trying to help a loved one. Of course, TW, but my goal is to keep triggers at an absolute minimum. I steer clear of most terminology, absolutley no pics, etc ... And all types of self injury welcome. Let's get better together!

TW: Almost relapsed
I have been using “I am Sober” to track my self injury. I sort of forgot about the app but when I checked learned it has been, as of maybe today (idk), a month. Sure, I thought it had been longer, but my timeline is blurry in my head, so at least it is something! I made a list of 100 things to do other than S.H., my own personal list, recently with my therapist. The urges came back this week. Then something broke and I was unsure if it was made of what I assumed it was. I won’t explain that further. I gently tested it lightly upon myself, and forgot about it for a few moments until I looked back and saw that it had done a little harm (trying to be vague but also it is probably nowhere as bad as you are thinking). I then had the overwhelming urge to do it purposely, I wanted nothing else. But I threw it away and stayed clean. I am not counting this as a relapse/slip-up. I will tell my therapist, but I worked to hard afterward to not see it as a victory.

This is, again, a possibly triggering resource, which does detail a couple common methods, so please know this before visiting. It is, however, 100% great for those trying to learn about the issue and help loved ones/become more informed.

I personally find “Calm Harm” much more useful than the company’s other app “Clear Fear”. It was very useful when I returned to school after PHP.

Warning: This article does include examples of types of self harm!!! I would suggest this is a better resource for loved ones of those struggling with Self Harm/Injury.

Safety Contract (12/16/19)
I ____________________make a commitment to living. I will not harm myself or anyone else in any way. I will not attempt suicide, or any other self injury. If I begin to have thoughts of harming myself: 1) I will try to identify specifically what is upsetting me 2) I will review alternatives to self-harm, such as thinking about my friends, family or the future

Daily Safety Contracts
I think one thing I will do on this blog is post a daily safety contract that people may like, comment, or retweet to show they agree. It is just to hold oneself accountable, of course I do not know who follows it.
