Something ive never seen discussed like ever in this fandom is the reality of the “omg they didn’t HAVE to do cannibalism coach ben survived the winter without it just fine” like yes… ben, the 6’1” adult man did in fact have more body mass to lose then a bunch of skinny teenage girls. Yes, he was more capable of surviving longer without food than any of them. Thats like… kind of a given. Also, he was expending far less energy than any of them given the fact that he was missing a leg and was unable to participate in chores like the others could. So all in all he naturally had a lot more staying power in the beginning than any of these girls but i think especially shauna, and natalie too (shauna being pregnant and natalie expending a large amount of calories every day to go hunt. Travis was hunting too but i think he was also in the camp of having more starting body mass). Of course it helped that his mindset was in the right place and he wasn’t willing to commit cannibalism, but from a logical standpoint any of the kids would have starved to death long before him.

I love the locked tomb series bc even if i told you to your face what happened in the series you wouldn’t know what was happening bc like i read all three books multiple time and i still don’t know what’s happening. You simply can’t sparknotes this shit i fear

Absolutely insane that shauna and van were canonically not close like they don’t have the shared experience of having to go through physically the worst, most painful moments of their lives (childbirth and the face stitches) in the most humiliating and public ways. This show sets up so many insane connections between characters with so little to come from it

Natalie and Ben’s relationship was genuinely so tragic and i wish more people talked abt it so here are some things i think about

-the fact that ben never knew that natalie “letting javi die for her” wasn’t actually her fault

-i imagine that somewhere in her heart of hearts nat does believe that ben started the fire but never acknowledged it because she wanted to believe someone was capable of staying good out there (and she never realized she was that person all along)

-the fact that nat spent months hiding ben even if it eventually cost her her leadership and spent even more time refusing to kill him, meaning combined she spent almost a year trying to keep him alive and in the end when she eventually did let him die it turned out if she’d fought one more day she would’ve actually succeeded in saving him

-i personally believe that her killing ben was also symbolic of her killing her own will to live. She lost her purpose when she lost her dad

-i think he would be proud of her for growing older than he ever got to be. And i think he’s proud she didn’t die by her own hand

If i were to get rich not like billionaire rich but rich like i could probably reasonably live okay for the rest of my life without really doing a ton of work i think i’d spend all my time getting certified for random things and gaining new skillsets to max out my resume and then have a job for like three months before i move on to another thing. I want to learn like 85 languages and get forklift certified and spend a year as a truck driver just to quit my job and be the competitor who taps out 3 months in for no reason in one of those survival shows. I loathe that i need to devote my life to a singular thing in order to scrape by, why can’t i just make pottery and sell it alongside my roadside spaghetti stand for 2.50 for no reason.

I’ve always headcanoned that nat’s birthday falls either on or around Christmas Day bc her first name can be translated to birth of the lord. I’ve seen another theory that javi’s death and consumption took place on Christmas Day as a Christmas feast. Which means in my universe Nat turned eighteen and became an adult the day she was chosen to be sacrificed to feed her teammates
