More lore drop on the in between and spacial magic in the AU

The in between is a knot between three types of magic:

-spacial magic as the place where portals lead before going from one place to another

-soul magic since it’s some kind of afterlife where souls with unfinished business stay

-time magic, when a person goes from a portal to another it’s as if time stops itself in « reality » meanwhile if you stay for a long time in the in between,time will pass slower in the « real » world, 1 week in the in between is 1 day in the real world

In consequence of this link between the three magics, there is an extremely small chance of a mage of one of the three attribute to have a child possessing one of the other two attributes (ex: a spacial mage has a 0.0001% chance of having a child using time or soul magic)

There are differences between a spacial mage using nature’s mana(Finral in the AU) and a spacial mage using his internal mana(Cob)

A mage using nature’s mana can only create portals looking like holes, cracks or tears in the fabric of reality like Finral, they cannot bend the portals to look a certain way even in regular circles but

Meanwhile a mage relying only on their internal mana can shape however they like the portal whether it stay a hole but looks like a perfect circle, a sophisticated or simple door and even windows for some

In the in between you can find the souls of some person

For an internal spacial mage they cannot see the apparence or understand what the souls are saying but said souls can’t pass through their portals to go back to the living world

As for a nature spacial mage they can understand as well as see key features of the souls, but these souls can and will mostly try to escape and end up as vengeful or roaming spirits in the living world

Internal spacial mage can explore the in between only in a perimeter of 1 to 2 km around their entrance point

For a nature spacial mage the perimeter can be extended to 5 or 6 km around their portal

A nature spacial mage is only linked to the entrance portal and has to find by himself the exit portal who can be as far as 5 to 6 km away from the entrance. Exit portals are not necessary in their case. When a nature mage makes another person go through their portal alone they have to be extremely focused so the entrance and exit portals are close enough in the in between to be seen as the same to make sure the person does not get lost in the other world

An internal spacial mage has a guideline toward the exit portal who are only as far as 1 or 2 km from the entrance. An exit is necessary in their case. But if another person goes through portal alone it will automatically have the entrance and exit close enough to each other so the person doesn’t enter the in between

AU(headcanon?):this world is the in between for spacial magic users when they are making portals

Some AU lore about spacial magic and Finral, I guess?

-The butterflies are a symbol of the in between world, in this AU Finral has a deep link with the in between hence the butterflies on his grimoire

-his eyes being a bit star shaped is a specificity that some spacial magic users can unlock, making the ranges of their portals a lot bigger than classic spacial mages, they also have the possibility of marking a person with their magic instead of a place although it takes a bit longer to mark said person

-the dagger on his belt is a Japanese dagger without a guard(Aikuchi), since he has no offensives spells in an attempt to give him a way to attack or defend himself if he find himself with no mana to help him run away

-the green in his hair is still some kind of magic power up

-each bead on his bracelets represents a member of the black bulls (including one bead for Liebe and one for Nacht’s devils), more beads can be put on the bracelet (the gold band represents langris)

-finger scars by opening some of his first portals

-recurent diamond/star shape representing portals and stars(space)

-In this AU, the Roulacase family comes from the kingdom of heart explaining Finral having a great affinity for mana and his purely denfisive magic reflecting the mostly closed off nature of his mother’s kingdom

Ability: Janus Gehenna, creates portal to a personal dimension although it is inhabited with souls of past ability users

Likes: traditional clothing, Reading novels, her parents, crows and ravens

Dislikes: her arms going rusty, not being able to distinguish ghosts and living people, Arahabaki

Facts:

born without arms, Melville build these arms especially for her as prosthetics infusing a part of Moby dick to make them almost feel like real ones

Not knowing if she was going to have an ability Fukuzawa taught her sword fighting so she could defend herself

With her bangs in front of her eyes, she’s a copy and paste of Poe but has Ranpo’s attitude and brains

Seeing ghosts regularly in her dimension, she’s can feel and even see some of them in the real world (ex: Odasaku, partially Rimbaud or Tachihara Shuzen)

She also doesn’t like Arahabaki because unlike the souls who feel like real people, Arahabaki feels like a dangerous parasite, she doesn’t mind Chuuya though
