Neil nearly smacked Maur. Nearly. The boy blushed deeply as he adjusted his tie for the fifth time. “O-Okay. Cool,” he took a deep breath, “God, he is cute, isn’t he? Shit. What the hell am I doing? He’s perfect and I’m…” He gestured to the mirror. He wasn’t perfect. Not even close. Not even remotely what the other deserved.

Maurevar couldn’t help chuckling. Perhaps it was unkind of him to tease so, but Neil made himself an easy target. “A perfectly charming young man,” he finished, reaching out to smooth Neil’s collar, “who anyone would be lucky to be with. I’ll not hear otherwise, not even from you.” He tapped the boy’s nose with a kind smile.

After joining the Inquisition, he tried to cut back on his lyrium intake only once. It was not a good time.

          The idea of someone scolding Garrett was enough to make Euphemia laugh again, hand cupping her mouth to quiet the sound, her brows jumping up. “That must have been quite the sight. Not that I’d be able to see it, but you know.” A joke, something the Commander would have to get used to just like everyone else. Some people found her jokes about her sight funny, others uncomfortable.

          “This was actually my first time meeting Garrett officially. I never really got to meet my extended family, what with the Blight and them being busy saving the world themselves. It’s…nice, knowing I have some family still around.” She paused, realising that must have sounded quite sad. “I mean, I have my father, and my siblings, but I’m not sure where they all are at the moment. After I was sent to the Circle and then the Blight, I lost touch with them.”

He chuckled, a warm rumbling sound. “It was entertaining to hear, at least, according to Master Tethras. Perhaps he can regale you with the story sometime. As I understand, Hawke is his favorite subject.”

Maurevar tilted his head with a thoughtful hum. “Perhaps you could speak to our spymaster? She has a...frighteningly thorough network of informants and spies. She may be able to help.” It had been some time since the Blight, true, but he did not believe it folly to hope.
