Tamsin is, for all intents and purposes, the most stable neurotic person you will ever meet.  While she is highly anxious most of the time, she tries her best to conceal it with hyperactivity instead.  To those who don’t know her too well, she appears to be just another hyper twenty-something with way too much sugar and caffeine in her system.  Truth is, she over-reacts at the smallest sign of trouble and can often be found breathing into a paper bag outside of the nightclub.  She gets jealous, but she wears green well.  She is one of four siblings, all of them older.  Despite popular belief, Tamsin does not have any of the “baby of the family” benefits as she is more often than not compared to her well-to-do oldest sister Katherine who married a Duke and therefore must be quite successful in her quest to, so to speak, level up.  Her two brothers pay absolutely no attention to either sister as they have found their own fame in theater, giving Tamsin’s parents even more leverage to brag about their three eldest children as profoundly successful. 

Even with her slightly neurotic streak, Tamsin is never without friends and seldom without a boyfriend or at least a love interest of sorts.  Her fun-filled and deceiving care-free nature (when she pops her anxiety medication) makes her a sponge for attention, wanted or not, though she loves to surround herself with people.  The spot light has always called her name, but her fear of the unknown has held her back from pursuing anything new and keeps her in her sage cocoon of what she knows and what she knows she’s good at.  Sevenoaks Academy affords her the luxury of being away from under her parents’ watchful eyes, and it’s something she takes advantage of even with the impending stricter rules set forth by the new headmaster.

She has a great love of food.  Tamsin will try anything once, and if given the opportunity she will cook and bake for anyone willing to eat.

She has an irrational fear of ladders.  It isn’t so much the height as it is the fear of whatever accident can be caused by one such contraption.  God forbid there is one leaning against a wall, Tamsin will go miles out of her way to avoid them.

When she was 10, she attempted to run away from home.  She packed a lunchbox for full snacks and juices but neglected to pack any clothes.  She got about 2 km down the road before she decided that it wasn’t worth it and besides… she was out of food.

She is ambidextrous.

Her middle name is Rose, but she hates it because she found the character of Rose in the Titanic absolutely annoying.

Para Sample (In character, third person POV. Must be at least two paragraphs.):

“Well that isn’t exactly fair, now is it Katherine?”  Tamsin was nearly spitting fire at the phone as she yelled at her thirty year old sister who was well over 5,000 km away at the moment.  “You know very well I’d rather stick a fork in my eye than sit through dinner with mom, dad, you, and the Duke.”  Her top lip curled up in disgust as she spoke that last word.  Her free hand not gripping the phone pushed into the sofa as her slender frame stood and began pacing back and forth over the wooden floor in the dimly lit den.  When she had enough of hearing Katherine’s voice, she muttered a goodbye and slid her finger across the touch-screen to end the call.  Her cellphone was carelessly tossed on the couch before she looked out the window.  Her hand rose to gently push away the thin satin fabric that lined the panes as her eyes stared at nothing in particular.  Why did she get so worked up?  Why do those people --- her family --- have the power to kick her anxiety into high gear without even being in the same vicinity?  Another sigh escaped her pink-stained lips before she let the drapes fall back down as she turned around and walked away.

Damn her.  Damn her stupid sister.  As much as Tamsin didn’t want to admit it, she missed him.  Talking to her sister always brought back those memories, and whether it was because he was her first boyfriend and Katherine was the only one she confided in, or because Katherine still brought up his name… she didn’t know.  Maybe it was both, but speaking with Katherine about relationships, love, and happiness in general brought back memories of him and how they used to be.  How she used to feel.  Feelings that haven’t been evoked in her since she was sixteen.  By now she had made the lonely trek to her bedroom and sat on the edge, staring at nothingness this time directed at the floor.  Her hands rested idly in her lap, though now there was that need, that almost itch to touch him.  Her eyed closed as she took a deep breath, and she could almost smell that lingering scent of his cologne, she could almost hear the way he would laugh at the stupid jokes she made, and she could almost feel his t-shirt under her hands.  Why…  For the second time in ten minutes, Tamsin took a deep breath that did anything but calm her nerves.  She needed him, she knew she still needed him… but did he still need her?

How difficult would it be to actively and fully participate in this if one is not British and has little knowledge of the culture and educational system?

Not particularly difficult. We could write you a character from your country who is sent to the boarding school, or you could write an OC. Then your character can know little about it as well and have to be taught by others.

It’s the year at school they are in. I’m not entirely sure how the american system works if that’s what you’re asking about but I think it’s this:

Liam had spent the day in the library again, mauling over one of his favourite books of all time. Well, in reality, a lot of books were one of his favourite books of all time. He didn’t really like people knowing how…wordy he was though. He didn’t want his popularity to be destroyed by his love of books, people who looked like him weren’t normally that into books, well in his opinion anyway. As far as this particular book went however, it wasn’t a classic, it wasn’t one that was often read but it was one he thoroughly enjoyed. It was called ‘The Book of Lost Things’ and was basically about a young boy’s experience and how he was dealing with his mother’s death. Liam had never really experienced the death of a loved one, he’d never really experienced anything. He wondered sometimes if that was why books held such an appeal, the life and angst he’d never had. Not that he had wished his mother to drop dead, he loved the woman to death, despite how overbearing she could be.

He sighed and put the book down, massaging his temples. Why did this bring his mother to mind? Maybe somewhere in his depths of his mind, he did wish she would die, so he’d have something to write about or so that she’d stop planning his future for him. Or maybe it was because the boy in the book lost his mother. He’d never know. He didn’t really want to delve into his subconscience at that very moment in time, afraid that he was far more sadistic than he gave himself credit for. 

His thought process made him think that maybe it was time to call it a day with the reading and see what everyone else had been up to. Thinking of his mother dying had been too much for one day.

Born into a family of success, Elena Harrison could not feel more out of place within her own family. Her mother and father, once successful models turned fashionista and photographer, don’t have much time for young Elena. Maybe once a month a family dinner is set out only for one or both of her parents failing to show, Elena has learnt to take care of herself instead of depending on her parents.

Elena feels like an outsider in her own home, her elder brother and sister don’t care much for her either, preferring to spend their time wasting their own money from their successes in the industry their parents brought them into. Preferring to spend her time locked in her room painting and playing piano, Elena’s parents fail to see why their youngest daughter would choose such a lifestyle when they could give her so much more.

After one too many nights spent alone again, Elena decided to throw a massive party, inviting some of her brother’s friends and getting high in her living room. Her parents came home as a surprise for her 15th birthday to find her getting it off with her 18 year old brother’s best friend of the same age. Her parents packed her suitcase that very night and sent her to Sevenoaks, in the hope she would see sense.

Upon arrival at Sevenoaks, Eleanor almost fell back into her usual ways but somehow word of her party had got there before her. She was quickly swept up in a reputation which wasn't wholly true. She still believes materialism to be foolish and prefers her own independent attitude and ways of life - making do with what she had got of her own - but on the outside, she lets go and enjoys the party. After all, it isn't often Jess Richards talks to a brand new student on their first day.

Sexuality: Up to player Friendships: Popular with the student body but due to a reputation which she doesn't really have or believe in. One day it wouldn't be surprising if Eleanor cracked and gave it all up. She's like a time bomb.

Meet William Lance, some would say he’s a 'stuck up prick', but no, he’s so much more than that. See there’s a difference between being an ordinary stuck up prick and being a filthy rich, stuck up prick. Not that William is rich - no, his father is - but all he has to do to get a bit of that wealth is simply snap his fingers. William's father, Charles Lance, is the proud owner of a successful record company and music imperium, Wildstream Music Works. He started out at the bottom of the business and worked his way up. He wanted to make sure his son would have a nice solid roof above his head and a bright future ahead of him, so he pampered his son whenever he could.

Growing up William got everything he wanted, a new bike, a puppy, a brand new top of the range guitar and as he got older; a car and his own goldcard. His dad never thought he was spoiling him, but without the stern hand of a woman in their household this was slowly becoming the case. About a year ago Charles met a very charming lady, who was, and still is, after nothing but his money. Her attitude towards William was so negative that he decided to ship himself off to Sevenoaks, just to make his father feel guilty.

He’s been here for a year now, always getting what he wants when he asks his father and annoying Crystal, his new stepmother, everytime he does so. Only William has come to realize that not everything is as easy as getting money, that being rich doesn’t guarantee people like you and that having 6 digits on your bank account doesn’t grant you straight As. He’s failing almost every class he takes and his bragging about his dad’s company is only pissing people off. To numb the pain this causes him, William has turned to the white powder, cocaine, just to shut out all of the negativity. How long will it take for his father to realize that’s he’s investing in a lost cause?
