Just watched Kpop Demon Hunters and it was actually so fire, oh my god.

I really liked the fact that Jinu wasn't stereotypically "Yay we bested the bad guys you're free now!" redeemed because, realistically, no matter how he was freed he would always have voices in the back of his head reminding him of what he did. I don't think he'd ever actually move on. So, being able to save Rumi as a partial repentance for never saving his sister and mother is, I think, the best way his redemption could've been executed.

(EVEN THOUGH JINU WAS MY FAVORITE. I WAS SO DISTRAUGHT IT WAS SO BITTERSWEET...)

And oh my fucking god, Celine. Oh Celine when I catch you Celine. The way she only loved a part of Rumi; the part she promised to love. She loved the concept of Rumi. The grief of losing her friend and the promise she made outweighed her humanity and compassion...

I remember a friend sending me the trailer for the movie and I was like "Hah, that's a silly concept." And I SEVERELY underestimated this movie. The message behind it and how deep it hits.

AND THE MUSIC WAS SO FIRE.

Easily one of the best movies I've watched in a hot minute.

New Kai hc just dropped (Sorta Monstrosity Spoilers)

After Rusty's death, Kai always ends arguments — even the worst arguments that leave him seething — with the other ninja or people he cares about with some sort of affirmation that he cares about or loves them because the guilt that his parting words with Rusty were nothing but callous eats away at him constantly. He is afraid that some day he'll end a conversation on the wrong note with the wrong person and, who knows? Maybe they'll be gone. Maybe his last words to them would've been arguing. Even over something petty, even if it didn't affect either of them badly, he just can't risk it. They'll reply with 'Huh? I know that, silly' or something of the like, but they'll never truly know. He just suddenly starts blurting out such things before he leaves to calm down, and nobody knows why or when exactly that started.

(Lego Monstrosity Spoilers)

I see a lot of people not fully understand the entire scene with Kai walking into the water with the monster/siren thing where he just slowly accepts his fate rather than suddenly snapping out of it because why would he walk in there in the first place?

The thing is that Kai's entire motivation is his friends, family and the people he cares about. This is shown in the way he is quick to harshly blame himself for things or consider himself inadequate if he could've done something to prevent the injury or loss of someone; the fact he became a ninja only to save Nya; the fact he persevered through the Land of Monsters if only to see his family again.

Without the people he loves, Kai is, honestly, nothing.

There's also the fact that he was not only quite physically fatigued and most likely malnourished, but he was also so clearly mentally exhausted. There's no way he could 100% rationally think (And I say this because I also don't think he would've snapped like he did at Rusty had he been in a better headspace).

The creature in the water seemingly preys on that sort of thing: Creatures with strong desires or the mental fatigue of creatures struck with the loss and grief of a loved one.

• Loss can come in various ways that aren't just death. Kai had lost his home, path and contact with the people he cared about in the Merge, and damn well nearly lost himself too.

We see this same loss and grief thing with Daidan and Rusty. Daidan's child, who was cruelly taken from her all too soon and Rusty's creator who succumbed to the Land of Monsters.

Daidan's reason to live was stripped away from her when her child died. Her purpose was to be a mother, to protect her child. Of course she'd risk herself for one small, slim chance that it was all a bad dream and that her child was safe alongside her.

Kai's reason to push forward was, is and always has been — as I've said — his family and friends. He'd started to reach his limits, and was desperate to see them again. Of course he'd fall for the illusion and walk into the water; he was at wits end. He would do anything to go back.

Now, why did Rusty manage to break free from the spell while Kai and Daidan failed to do so? The answer is simple:

Rusty's creator, while someone he cherished and missed tremendously, wasn't his purpose or his grief anymore. His purpose was to protect, and his grief would've been failing another fire wielder and failing his creator's wishes. He knew his creator wouldn't have wanted him to let others die for no reason.

And I for one am glad we got to see Kai not be strong and certain all the time. He ran, he cried, he was scared.

He was so so human.

Yes he was brave and moral, but he also was not a strong unflappable Ninja, he was simply Kai. He had raw fits of frustration and anger, grief and pain, fear and hopelessness. And I think that's so refreshing to see, especially from Kai who hasn't gotten nearly enough time in the 'Emotional Depth' spotlight (In my opinion).

Genuinely I'm so tired of seeing a massive lack of media literacy in the HSR Fandom, specifically when it comes to Dr. Veritas Ratio.

Like, somebody please explain to me why on earth people portray Ratio as an unfeeling, uncaring, brash asshole who can and will punt you because he simply felt like it.

Why do people act like we don't have multiple receipts of him being a kind and caring person who does have (logical) empathy, and who wants nothing more than to spread knowledge across the galaxy because that's his passion. Even if he goes about it in a way that might seem less than ideal.

There are numerous things that he HAS done in canon that directly oppose whatever 'ideals' fanon Ratio is written to have. It's like the man can never catch a break and is constantly being doomposted for literally no reason other than the fact certain Ratio haters™ took his words personally. (I mean that half jokingly, to be honest.)

I've also noticed a substantial amount of people who despise Ratio but absolutely adore Ruan Mei who, objectively, is a lot worse than Ratio. She just takes the time to sugarcoat her personality. (Was the whole drugging ordeal not just symbolism for a lie being wrapped up in sugar with a bow on top (e.g a sugar coated lie) or is that just me looking too deeply into it???)

*Not to say I don't like Ruan Mei or that she's a fully terrible person.

And yes of course he's going to think himself better than some people because he was raised in such a way that he'd been alienated from his peers since childhood because he was always told he was "better" and was pushed to be the absolute best. Does that justify certain behaviors? No. But people give him absolutely zero grace while going and woobifying other characters who have done bad things just because they had a bad past.

And these are all just surface level, shallow notes of his character, by the way. I can't do his entire character justice but people have done some in-depth character analysis on him that were most definitely worth the read.

In a way it's almost amusing (albeit sad) how this random purple haired man has sparked so much outrage simply by existing. But it's also exhausting because I don't want to open my socials and see 8 Ratio OOC and/or hate posts consecutively even if I try to avoid them.

AU where Luo Binghe transmigrates into real life/Shen Yuan's world and his protagonist halo just completely dissappears—

Say goodbye to perfectly clean, unwrinkled clothing! You move even two centimeters? Wrinkles. And the fact Luo Binghe wears primarily black clothing? You bet that any and every dust particle, animal hair, piece of dirt or literally anything that shows against black clothing will stick to Luo Binghe's clothes so often that the man starts to carry around a small lint roller.

Luo Binghe will trip over anything and everything. The only thing that was saving him from being an absolute clutz was the protagonist's halo, which is gone now.

His skin? Insanely sensitive, he learns. He needs to spend the next five months (minimum) looking into what products help with the ten different problems (minimum) his skin has — depending on the season — making sure they work and that he also isn't ALLERGIC to them. Yeah, allergies are also a thing now.

His hair, instead of being effortlessly styled and kept without doing anything, is now a bird's nest. Frizz so bad that the curl pattern is barely visible. Not only that, but it's also super dry and damaged. He now has a fifteen step skin care routine and eleven step hair care routine and is also the reason Shen Yuan's bank account regularly dips into the negatives — more than usual.

He not only randomly spawned into a world he knows nothing about, but he also just got debuffed to the max.
