World Quest: Mondstadt Malady (Gen/shin Im/pact, Lu/mine)

I wrote this over the course of last week. Recently gotten back into Gen/shin and Ae/ther has me in constant brainrot. He’s fuckin adorable, I couldn’t help but do something with him. That said, I also decided to make a Lu/mine version, since the point of how the Tr/aveler’s character is written is that they can be changed around with minor differences. Hence, there are minor differences between these two versions, maybe read both and try to spot all of them. The benefit of being bisexual is that I think both of them are hot so it’s no skin off my nose to make 2 versions of it. :>

Will be crossposting this to AO3 once I get my account set up there.

I might write a second part to this at some point, but ech. I also might have some other fics to publish, but there’s one in particular I want to get done before posting the other, soz…

Description: The Tra/veler has never been ill, as far as they can remember, but after falling into freezing water on Dragonspine Mountain, they start to experience some strange symptoms, which concerns Mondstadt’s finest.

(Additional Note: I wrote the Aether version first and edited it into this. There might be some weird hold-overs from that, but I’m pretty sure I edited all of them.)

that one post about sneezes as objects is probably part of why I'm such a fan of tissue sneezes (containing the whole of a sneeze in something? my word), but in general I feel like there are a lot of underappreciated little niche things to it.

like, someone who always tries to sneeze into tissues is so good. if they sneeze often, they've probably got tissues at the ready, but still have to make an effort to get them out--all the while wrestling with the building sneeze (or sneezing fit), their tickly nose making it harder and harder, grabbing out the package with increasing desperation, opening it, just barely managing to get a tissue to their nose in time so they can give up the fight with their dignity in tact. if they don't sneeze often, they're likely way less prepared, making the mad dash to SOMETHING they can use to cover their nose that much more desperate, that much more blatant, obvious to everyone around them (maybe they even have to ask others if they have any, all the while sniffling and hitching).

but like, most people don't make an active effort to sneeze into tissues. yeah, they know they probably should, it's more considerate, but it's so much effort carrying them around, or running up to a tissue box, and it's embarrassing to go out of your way for something like that just for a sneeze.

but like, if you're blowing your nose, and you've already got a tissue in your hands? you'll do it out of reflex more than anything, or maybe, since you've already got tissues next to you, you'll just pluck out one fresh--ugh, your nose is so itchy today, and blow your nose again afterwards.

bonus points for someone shy who would usually only do this in private but just can't help themselves in the current situation, whether it's a cold, allergies, something in the room setting them off...
