61 - Bloody Bowling Ball Head - Into the Badlands
Download the episode ( MP3 | iTunes | RSS )
In our final episode, we conclude season two of Into the Badlands by covering the last two episodes “Nightingale Sings No More” and “Wolf's Breath, Dragon Fire.” And as it is our last episode, we talk about why we’ve decided to end the podcast and our favorite memories.
How trustworthy is Bajie?
Will we watch Season 3 of Into the Badlands?
How does Quinn have ice cream?
Is this show even sci-fi?
Hopefully this won’t be goodbye forever, but for the moment… buh-bye

60 - Waste of a Perfectly Good Bus - Into the Badlands
Download the episode ( MP3 | iTunes | RSS )
Next week we cover Into the Badlands “Nightingale Sings No More.”
Sunny and co. make their glorious return into the badlands (casual name drop) and pick up the pace heading into the final few episodes of season 2.
Why does anything happen? Usually because aesthetic.
Why are most of the barons so easy to kill?
Did all of the economists die off early in the apocalypse?

59 - Secret Interstate Road Crew - Into the Badlands
Download the episode ( MP3 | iTunes | RSS )
“Black Heart, White Mountain” tugged at our heartstrings with the life that Sunny could never lead. Sadly, the MK/Bajie road trip couldn’t maintain the same momentum the previous episodes had been building.
Could there be only one bathtub in the Badlands?
What did MK even learn in abbot school?
Is Flea the Widow?
What’s up with the badlands economy?
What is Bajie planning?
Next week, we cover the next episode of Into the Badlands: “Sting of the Scorpion’s Tail.”

58 - Mitsuha, Taki & The Great Comet of 2013 - Your Name
Download the episode ( MP3 | iTunes | RSS )
We tackle the widely acclaimed Japanese animated movie, Your Name, written and directed by Makoto Shinkai, and despite its misleading beginning, we highly recommend it to sci-fi fans.
Was it overhyped?
Does Your Name work as a cohesive piece without cultural context?
Who was the main character? Which character had more agency?
Should the live-action remake happen?
Next week, we make our long-awaited return to Into the Badlands with “Black Heart, White Mountain.”

57 - Logic is Bae - Star Trek: Discovery
Download the episode ( MP3 | iTunes | RSS )
We discover Star Trek: Discovery and debate whether it’s worth the price of the CBS All Access pass, but mostly we just make horrible Star Trek puns.
Are Klingons a modern metaphor?
What’s Michael’s personality?
Is Star Trek social justice liberal propaganda?
Who would Finn’s drift partner be in Star Wars?
Next week, we’ll be discussing the acclaimed Japanese animated film, Your Name.

56 - Sensori LinkedIn - Sense8
Download the episode ( MP3 | iTunes | RSS )
In “I Have No Room in My Heart for Hate” Riley journeys to Chicago, Capheus’ father gets his first screen time, and there’s a battle between two celestial bodies (AKA Sun and Mun), just another day in the life of Sense8.
Why do TV intros matter?
Is Will being too controlling with Riley and Diego?
Does Rajan genuinely mean his apology? And what does that mean for our OTP Kala/Wolfgang?
Will we ever seen Dani’s parents again?

55 - Traitor to America - Sense8
Download the episode ( MP3 | iTunes | RSS )
Come for the despair, stay for the passionate sex? “Isolated Above, Connected Below” was Sense8’s love episode, and oh boy, there was a lot of it. But… it worked?
Is love within a cluster narcissistic?
How does the Sensori archipelago work? Could there be a spy?
How will class play into Capheus’ relationships going forward?
Is Sense8 hypocritical?
Tune in next week and we’ll cover the next episode of Sense8: “I Have No Room in my Heart for Hate.”

Consistent themes, good feelings, and one adorable dog carry “Fear Never Fixed Anything” because when in doubt, bring out the dog. Because dog.
Did Capheus’ house change or are we going crazy?
Why does Wolfgang reject Leila?
Do we care about Jonas?
What is Anonymous doing here?
Next week we’ll return with the next episode of Sense8 “Isolated Above, Connected Below.” Just a quick note, we had problems with our audio this week. We tried to make the best out of a bad situation, but we apologize in advance and hope we’ll be back to our usual middling standards next time.

53 - Bajielands - Into the Badlands
Download the episode ( MP3 | iTunes | RSS )
In “Leopard Stalks in Snow” Maggie finally gets her money’s worth for her English degree and Quinn is just now becoming affected by his brain tumor which is approximately the size of a fist.
Why did no-name characters get such dramatic deaths?
Where is the gasoline coming from?
Is it possible that America is the only country experiencing post-apocalyptic madness?
How do the abbots track the “dark ones?”
Was the main death in this episode justified?
Next time on Sci-Fi in Color we return to Sense8 with “Fear Never Fixed Anything.”

52 - Team Instinct - Into the Badlands
Download the episode ( MP3 | iTunes | RSS )
Even though “Monkey Leaps Through Mist” didn’t have a lot of fight sequences, it made some really interesting plot pivots with Jade, Sunny, and MK. And the one fight we got? Excellent. The rest of the season is looking promising.
Can fictional characters kill with morality?
What’s going on with MK and the monastery?
Should Quinn have come back from the dead?
Where was the foreshadowing?
Next time (in two weeks) we’ll cover Into the Badlands’ “Leopard Stalks in Snow.”

51 - The Butt Lights Up - Firefly
Download the episode ( MP3 | iTunes | RSS )
Firefly is a sci-fi classic, but how does it hold up? We dive into the pilot episode “Serenity” along with our college friend, Angie, and cry about how Firefly was tragically cancelled.
How does this episode play with our expectations?
Is Mal a good main character?
What was the point of the Asian-inspired universe? And why was the Chinese SO bad?
Do we consider the movie Serenity canon?
Tune in next week and we’ll return to Into the Badlands.
Two minor corrections from the episode: It’s the Battle of Serenity Valley and yes, Joss Whedon did direct the episode “Serenity.”
