I recommend brave browser. No ads, works just fine as a search engine, and you can turn on a feature to let you play videos with your screen off. You can also hide YouTube shorts in settings too.

Movies2watch.tv has TV shows and movies +for free+ and I've only had a little bit of trouble with the servers so far, mostly only on my slow internet.

Read comics online has such a good library of comics, and if you have a comic collection, you can scan and upload it too. Mostly superhero comics, even has some less popular ones, like the tick.

use overdrive, libby, hoopla, cloudlibrary, and kanopy instead of amazon and audible.

use firefox instead of chrome or opera (both are made with chromium, which blocks functionality for ad-blockers. firefox isn't based on chromium).

use mega or proton drive instead of google drive.

get rid of bloatware

use libreoffice instead of microsoft office suite

use vetted sites on r/FREEMEDIAHECKYEAH for free movies, books, games, etc.

use trakt or letterboxd instead of imdb.

use storygraph instead of goodreads.

use darkpatterns to find mobile game with no ads or microtransactions

use ground news to read unbiased news and find blind spots in news stories.

use mediahuman or cobalt to download music, or support your favorite artists directly through bandcamp

make youtube bearable by using mtube, newpipe, or the unhook extension on chrome, firefox, or microsoft edge

use search for a cause or ecosia to support the environment instead of google

use thriftbooks to buy new or used books (they also have manga, textbooks, home goods, CDs, DVDs, and blurays)

use flashpoint to play archived online flash games

find books, movies, games, etc. on the internet archive! for starters, here's a bunch of David Attenborough documentaries and all of the Animorphs books

burn your music onto cds

use pdf24 (available online or as a desktop app) instead of adobe

use unroll.me to clean your email inboxes

use thunderbird, mailfence, countermail, edison mail, tuta, or proton mail instead of gmail

remove bloatware on windows PC, macOS, and iOS X

remove bloatware on samsung X

use pixelfed instead of instagram or meta

use NCH suite for free software like a file converter, image editor, video editors, pdf editor, etc.

Seriously tho, you should consider using a ad-blocker. I only go on the YouTube app to post, and I hate how it auto-opens on shorts, they are trying so hard to steal your attention.

If you are worried about the creators suffering, support them in other ways. Kofi, patron.

Brave is pretty dang cool, it has a feature to let you play videos when the screen is off.

Screw big companies and their attempts on our time. Take it back.

If you're a Youtube creator with monetization privileges, click on the "Earn" tab right now and deal with this if you feel like its necessary. Youtube is going to start running more ads on your videos automatically without your permission, and the ability to opt out will go away in two months.

Youtube is not advertising this anywhere. Checking my "Earn" tab on my own is the first time I'm hearing about it. To me, that suggests they don't want people to know they're doing this, because they want to crank up ad frequency and make more money.

If you've ever seen what happens when you let Youtube automatically pick ad slots like this, they basically try to run an ad every 2-3 minutes. It's a nightmare.

They are going to flood their platform with ads and drive away 70% of their viewership. On the other hand, if you opt out and choose to continue showing fewer ads, you may earn the trust and respect of your viewers.

You have a strategic operative to turn this off before May 12th. If you don't do it before then, it sounds like Youtube will take away your ability to reduce your ad frequency.

Working on a new animatic, and am taking a more physical approach.

Here are some of my favorite frames so far.

Gotta have worms, I like how they look, moving all pointy.

This was spur of the moment, but I think it works.

This is referencing several characters, even if it just looks random.

More mystery people. Very happy with the silhouettes.

I had to draw hands, but it was worth it.

This was a attempt to make the background look as frazzled as the character, not sure if it carries, but I like the look.

This turned out so fun, looks better irl, but more effort will be put into the finish anyway.

Hopefully I'll post some little sketches later, I miss having characters to obsess over, I bounce around in fandoms to much.

More undertale au art.

Starting to get comfortable with the color scheme for brokentale.

Flowey is of course, a looming weirdo.

The four main characters are important, so I have to practice them. I think they look less basic, which is good. Now they will stand out.

I will post more about the story soon, perhaps small comics?

Not sure. I did try writing a story with them, a bit ago, but I feel words won't do them justice anymore.

I want to write, to draw, to create.

I want to make stories people love, as much as I love them.

It's so easy in my head, I'm bursting with ideas, overflowing.

They prick at me like thorns when I ignore them.

But I'm so tired.

I haven't written in months.

My art feels like it's missing something.

How do you do it?

How do you keep going, when your own mind is against you.

I could quit, I could throw it all away.

I'd be free from the stress, the guilt, the feelings of failure.

But I'd tear myself apart.

Is this what being an artist is?

A frayed cage of feral ideas, that gnaw and gnaw with sharp teeth, never sated.

They leave wounds I can't close, words and pictures bleed from within.

I try to tell the stories, draw the pictures, do right by myself.

But it's never good enough.

I'm not good enough.

I give up.

But it's still there, bleeding in the back of my mind.

I try other things.

I fail.

I pick up old threads, tape together ripped pages, make something new.

Something beautiful.

It rots in my hands.

I let it fall.

It's never good enough.

I try again.

Someday I'll get it right.

I have to.

I need to.

I want to.

I will.

I can't.
