ngl I was almost finishing that big ass essay about J&J I've been writing for the past 3 months little by little because there's just so much to say, and I was trying to rewatch J&J to get more details but the whole Prom thing made me want to take a break from it because I can't stand looking at his face right now. Especially because I was a huge fan of his, I've liked him since 2020, and not long before this whole mess I complimented him for being cute with his friends, so you can't even imagine my disappointment. Now I'm like 'that's just another goddamn man (derogatory)'

I just really hope I can overcome this soon because that's my most favorite Thai drama and, to add to that, Nuea is my favorite character in Love Mechanics, too. But deep inside I know both of them are tainted forever.

I reflected for a little bit and realized that, obviously, neither Jack nor Joke are villains, but they did all of that for each other simply because they're morally grey and (quite literally) madly in love. And yes, the world of J&J has actual, even rather cartoonish villains: Billionaires. and Carbon but he's also another rich dude so same shit

“Villains will burn down the world for a last kiss goodbye” well, wasn't that kind of literally what Jack did? It was the first time he's killed someone (and it was even more than one person at once). He killed for Joke. And he was finger on trigger ready to kill again, blow Carbon's brain out with a point blank shot through the skull. He was NOT fucking around. He did that solely for Joke. The fact the situation was also hurting several other people wasn't really in his mind.

Eventually, he'd also decide to die with Joke, not before kissing him one last time.

And he's still a character with one of the strongest moral compasses I've seen in fiction.

Now, the whole thing about Joke is precisely that he's extremely selfish - while being completely selfless for Jack. He's ambiguous as fuck here: you don't do whatever comes to your mind without measuring the consequences only because you're oh-so-regretful and want to be forgiven; you don't push someone to forgive you no matter what, you have to earn it.

Yet, he still sought Jack's forgiveness doing everything he could to help him, no matter what would that be, even and especially at his own expense, because the only thing in his mind was Jack.

All of that while still also having a strong moral compass; though he's much more morally grey than Jack, since he's kinda chosen to be a criminal instead of falling into it because of the system like Jack did.

Did he steal? Yes. Did he deceive? Yes. But it was always to help other, more vulnerable people.

I think when people think of a 'villain' and a 'hero', we tend think of disney-like or marvel-like polar opposites, when it fact you can have a morally grey character doing everything for their loved ones without necessarily turning into a villain or even acting like one. You just need to put a little bit of actual humanity into them. And this balance is what makes J&J such a good and interesting story, and Jack and Joke such complex and layered characters.

i think villains in general provide better, more epic romances because they're allowed to go to extremes. they're allowed to put their love over the greater good. they're allowed to be selfish. the best a hero can offer you is number two, because their duty comes first. villains, though. villains will burn down the world for a last kiss goodbye.

I cannot seem to put this in any other way, but the way countries like the US speak about LGBT issues in other countries feels like propaganda.

There is so much news that feels like purposeful misinformation, or incomplete facts meant to make their own population believe other countries have it "worse."
